Same thing happened to us on our Transatlantic cruise on 11/22/19 (Epic - from Barcelona to Puerto Rico). There were long lines and we had to wait for about 2 hours. We were informed that the reason was that during last sailing, more than 2% of the crew and/or guests reported acute gastroenteritis symptoms so they had to deployed its response plan, they conducted a rigorous cleaning process.
Me been on a lot of cruises same area my ticket said time show up. Makes sense first morning group large outside. Building opens at certain time so showing up makes no diff till they open.

At what time did you think was no line? Which is the better time to get? I was in the Breakaway last may 26, 2019 and we have to wait like 1 1/2 hr - 2 hrs to get to the ship.
There is no indication whatsoever about the best time to get to the pier for embarkation. It varies without a logic. Once we arrived at 11 AM, the embarkation started (official start is at 12 PM) and we were the only passengers at the check-in (!!). Another time I arrived at 3 PM, very few were waiting inside the terminal. This embarkation was also May 2019 and a passenger told me during the cruise that he arrived at ~ 9 AM and the line was already there (unverified information). I noticed that after 2 PM it is a much more relaxing experience (I tested in several ports)
Nice, informative video. Clearly there was some delay in embarkation. When we boarded the Epic in Barcelona there were no lines ands we went from taxi to onboard in less than 30 minutes. It's just unfortunate they couldn't have informed everyone what was going on
Lol no offense learned a lot 1 st cruise mistakes not to make. The next ones were so much better. Disembark morning easy if you have all luggage clear your bill don't charge on card then check out 630 am d day. Off by 920 am.
Totally agree, I cruise with NCL once in 2016, and never again, I have the same experience with Holland American cruise line also. I never cruise with those two companies again. BTW, I hear Costa is not so good but I never cruise with Costa so I don’t know.

I've cruised Epic 3 times from Barcelona and there's never been a line!

Norwegian is the new "Motel 6 of the Ocean". NCL has been is a downward spiral since 2013 with no end in sight.

At 12.00 PM. At 12.05 I was already in the queue.
