  • For model year 2024, Ski-Doo has made some quite significant changes to the Freeride model suspension and track in particular to add stability and allow for more track speed, which affects the handling of the sled significantly from the 2023 model.
In this video, Mountain Sledder testers Sean and Pat ride the 2024 Ski-Doo Freeride 146 with 850 E-TEC TurboR, and go over everything that's new and updated on the Freeride model for 2024.

This particular sled tested has the 146" x 15" x 2.5" track, and is powered by the 850 E-TEC TurboR. It really wants to loft the skis! Hang on tight!
Some folks have asked if this sled (146" track) can climb hills in the deep snow, and it can, but truthfully it wants to wheelie more than go uphill. This particular configuration is a ton of fun to freeride, and it excels at re-entries, bowties, hopovers, etc. and would be a really fun choice for springtime freeriding.
If your goal however is to go exploring or try to make it somewhere in the backcountry in deep snow conditions, a Summit model or a Freeride with a longer track would be a better option. The 154" track is a more versatile option that can be used more effectively all winter to have a lot of fun and still make it around pretty well.
Thanks for watching! Any questions, just leave them below and we'll do our best to answer!

@@eskluvan I truly believe a mountain sled is the toughest life a 2 stroke motor could ever hav, it’s either wide open or idle. It’s inevitable that they’ll break, it’s just clear Polaris breaks more often.

I’m gonna check a 146. I wish it had a 3in track though. The 2.5 just seems like it won’t eat enough snow. At least a 2.75! That track spin though! Hopping across from poo, so we shall see!

Do you happen to know the weight of that new track in the 146x15x2.5?
