Tony Yayo recently shared his thoughts about the current state of New York hip-hop and the impact of Pop Smoke's untimely death. Speaking with Vlad, he reminisced about the rich tradition of fashion and swagger in New York, highlighting the influence of past hip-hop legends like Run-D.M.C. and their impact on trends. Yayo emphasized that New York artists have always brought a unique flair to the scene, which was exemplified by Pop Smoke. Yayo reflects on Pop Smoke's cultural influence and believes that Pop Smoke had a distinctive ability to create hit records and that his presence had a significant potential to elevate New York's hip-hop scene even further. Yayo asserts that had Pop Smoke not been tragically killed, New York hip-hop would have been in a much stronger position today.
At this point I gotta fly to Romania 🇷🇴 and order me a 3 piece Duck 🦆 with a side of mashed potatoes and 2 biscuits.. gotta hit
Romanian mf here, where yayo ate it the serve it with thin pancakes and cheves . I bet the pancakes sealed the deal for my boy :)))

When Pop died so did NY drill…from the outside looking in nothing I hear now compares to the qaulity of music he gave the world in such a short amount of time,RIP the late great
You dck riding hard drill never died kay flock was better then pop smoke
Thankfully cause New York didn’t fit drill music!!! Being from TN I’m on the outside looking in, but I love New York music all the way up until the drill scene
😆😆 After NY thought they was ATL for 10 years now they wanna be Chicago. And NY have LA gangs which they not even doing right 😆😆 SAD

Ever but the young boys ain’t got the ears for that💯😭🤷🏿♂️
they’re new york state not new york city !
That's a fact. Pop Smoke had a 50 Cent type of buzz and was on his way. The city took a hit when he died
💯
His music was garbage juice and NY should've never got on that drill wave. It shows how bad of a state NY hip-hop is in when that garbage was considered good music

I'm from the South Selma, Alabama. I'm 50 years old now New Yorkers know how to fashion every time boy cousins came to visit from New York City. I took their clothes back in the days. if I can't fit it. I tried. Yes New Yorker always been trendsetters.
Adidas sweat suits!! Girbaud jeans!! NYC is a true fashion house
It's the money, the industry, international port, Fashion Weeks....
If Pop Smoke didn’t get Smoke NY will be Popping..
If k flock and his crew didn’t go to jail nyc would be popping..
Pardon the puns
If Big L didn't die, NY would've been better off.
Everybody knows that!

It’s was Eric Monte not Norman Lear that was the writer & creator of those iconic shows in the 1970’s.
And Mike Evans
Black folks should own a piece of Vladtv... Yayo is on to something here
As a Brooklyn girl …. He ain’t lying pop had Brooklyn littt when he died that shit really hurt us & still does
big facts
That's you in your profile picture
I agree. He had a different sound/style
You never fail to keep it interesting!
U can tell by the silence Vlad never seen any of these shows 😂😂😂
lol you doubting that Vlad never watched Cosby & Martin 2 of the most popular sitcoms ever… but Yayo didn’t even know Norman Lear was the guy behind Good Times
He seen them he just doesn't agree and might look anti black knowing he has a Chanel full of us so it's best to not talk
Nah everybody knows these shows Brodie

NY rap died cause we started copying others. We are no longer trend setters. NY is just copy cats now. Copied gangs, drill music and other things as well. NY needs to get back to that lyrical word play we used to have.
If they had to stuck to the boom bap style rap with that grimey NY feel to it I can only imagine what it would of evolved too but instead, like ya say they just started copying everyone else and shit is weak now for the most part. You could be anywhere in the world back in the day and see a person and know they were from New York.
4:29 To be fair Kangol Kid was wearing Kangols before LL popped off.
New York produced icon rappers than any other states in USA
Y’all should have the shit started in NYC but Philly Never Wanted to be like y’all nicca 😂 never ..we respect y’all but we never wanted to look or be like or Talk like yall 🤷🏽♂️
Niggas from Oklahoma and Virginia talking about ny is dead. As if these niggas from Rhode Island ever even had a rapper to be on
We not boutta act like Biggie aint steal the Versace style from Pac
So? Did Pac copy other rappers that wore Karl Kani or Fubu first?
That was Biggie’s line. Rock it til the the tape pop
Norman Lear stole good times from a black guy
Eric Monte and Mike Evans
I heard
Every drill artist that dies everyone says “he was the next one up”.
Pop was already at the top, your buggin his first song Complete smash n then it was Smash after Smash After Smash....n he had alot ol school samples my child hood shit m he younger than me. If I can't n many men 50, genuwine differences , alot of classic shit. No features while he was alive except Tjay. He was dat NIGGA. Niggas started hitting the gym too 😅
Exactly because they on their Playlist like foh.more people don't fuck with drill than people do. People think a UA-cam video with millions of views means they next up lol.
True but pop had enough hits and buzz to really believe it and after he died that dropped like 4-5 Hits so imagine if he was here to really promote those songs
The only person yayo doesn’t overtalk is 50
I fully agree. He was bringing everyone together. US UK FRANCE ETC POP SMOKE 💨 was special
It's crazy how awesome this turned out!
Pop Smoke was 50 Cent, DMX, and Migos all rolled up in one ninja 💯
Love Yayo, but NBC has been around since 1926. Cosby didn’t make NBC what it was.
If Big Poppa didn’t get popped, NY would be BIG and hip hop would be Popping!
Pac was personally picked by Versace to model it. Biggie didn’t make Versace hot.
🧢
Fact. Also, Biggie had a lyric that said “you look so good, I’ll suck on your daddy d**k”. Another fact 😂
Griselda put NY back on the map
Nah
They are from Buffalo
For us old school hip hop fans yup💯💪🏿
New york Hip Hop would be in a better place if it went back to its roots. New york used to be the mecca, the trend setters for hip hop. Now they're just following.
Tony Yayo should be on the New York Mount Rushmore fs and the romania one while we at it
New york 🏙 is better than everyone else in my opinion
Dior been in the hood, pop gave it a 2nd/3rd push though
Tony be watching Frasier while eating Foie gras and drinking Sherry.
U see how vlad ducked that NBC question, but titled this clip “pop smoke” pay attention y’all
White Lines is a Grandmaster Flash song lmfao. Not Run DMC
Romania getting the best promotion from Yayo 😂😂
I would love to see the boop bap sound back i mean its a few ppl that do it like Joey Bada$$ and the Griselda cats
Young dudes in Ny the only care about drill nowadays
BOOM*
@@SharkVshore I know smh
I think Vlad be interrupting Yayo on purpose at this point lol 😂
He's right, New Yorkers were trendsetters. In LA if you saw somebody in the green Puma's in the mid 80's it was a most likely a New Yorker over here. Or the fat laces with the diamond patterns.
As long as Wu-Tang Clan, The LOX, Nas, Kool G Rap, Rakim, Joell Ortiz, Papoose & many others of that breed are dropping music then New York hip hop is good to me.
In Living Colour Blew up FOX channel
Married With Children , The Simpsons, and In Living Color helped Fox blew up

Did Vlad say Norman Lear wrote Good Times? Yo Vlad Good Times is a spinoff of Cooley High. Both Good Times and Cooley High were written by Eric Monte
Yes,Eric Monte and Mike Evans(Lionel of the Jeffersons) created good times.but the sort-of spin-off of Cooley High was What's Happening, not Good Times

Biggie took the Versace style from Tupac. Biggie Just wore it better I must admit.

UhOh Vlad, you forgot to censor "K**led"

Yall put all yall marbles in pop smoke. Theres definitely better rappers in NYC than he is
They don’t have charisma
Dnt forget about Curtis Blow. He started all the commercial ish.
I like when Vlad TV does interview with Tony yayo. He's like the most normal rapper in the world very normal. He can be himself some of those rappers that he Vlad TV get in the show. Either they start pulling out money or they start talking about shooting people. But yeah let Tony yayo bring them back again whenever you get a chance
When I go to Romania 🇷🇴 ima tell them I want the yayo special 🍽️
NY Hip hop died when Max B got locked up. He was our last true NY trend setting star. Max had the entire country dressing like him, talking like him and making music like him. When Max left, so did NY last chance to run the rap game. If it wasn't for Jim Jones stealing Max b whole swag, we all would still be walking around wearing 3X white tees, size 54 jeans.
Pop Smoke definitely had potential but the music itself hasn’t aged well, Too many artists focused on quantity over quality releases nowadays.
which songs do you think haven't aged well?
@@AS-xv7fp I judge based off albums. I was regularly listening to him during his come up and really enjoyed his first posthumous album, but over time I just never returned to the music, maybe Gatti on occasion.
@@SP2Crazy Gotcha. I definitely don't return to his first posthumous album. That one got boring after the Summer. The first 2 mixtapes tho, still fire to me. The production on MTW2 is my fav and showcases Pop's versatility. Shame we lost him.
the last time I watched tv was Good times, Wayans bros, matin. I was ten years old in the 90s. haven't watched TV since
Norman Leer stole the ideas to all those shows from a black man. Facts
Curtis blow was the first rapper to have a mainstream commercial. Facts
Real NY MF's, don't know who the fuck Pop Smoke is. I can't even name ONE song
Dior
u cannot say pop n forget da smoke 💙
If NY had of stuck to the boom bap style rap with that grimey NY feel to it I can only imagine what it would of evolved too. Their flamboyance was a statement dress code that would make you look at them anywhere in the world and know where they’re from. Even the lingo is wack now, you still get that rough but smooth talk from some but they talk like they wanna be from Chicago or Cali ect these days.
Its easy to say how much better things would be if a specific person was still around but nobody really knows imo
We need them; eating duck in Romania shirts asap
Let’s be real, pop smoke brought nothing original other than a sound that was already invented from Chicago to NY- drill music. Nothing he talked about was uplifting, typical black on black violence, and braggadocious style. Sad he passed but he didn’t bring anything we already had
Yayo has a lot of common sense now i see why 50 keeps him around
we eating duck in Romania, WE eat caviar pancakes. that's for T.O.N.Y Y.A.Y.O THE REAL TALK OF NEW YORK
Pop Smoke helped popularize the Amiri brand. But hell no, he didn't popularize Christian Dior.
Dior is what actual rich people buy. Gucci is what street dudes in the US buy. Gucci hasn't sold well in Europe and Asia in years.
Here goes Kermit the frog 🐸 rimming 50 again.
If Yayo never did these I wouldn't know how brilliant he is
If yayo never did these I wouldn't know yayo
I'm from southeast Tennessee, but i currently reside in Louisville, Pop Smoke isn't big here, they got to be talking about just in that region
Basketball was my favorite sport, i like the way they dribble up and down the court. C. BLOW WAS THAT CAT. WITH a jerry curl n... and was the first to get a major commercial. You dnt know man?
