As a person who owns a DRZ and uses it for camping, this video is quite misleading when it comes to set up in an attempt to sell products.
Things you definitely do not need is the trail tech dash - you can get offline maps on phones these days, why complicate the bike?
The handguards are as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle... Just put full barkbusters to protect levers.
The giant loop bags make the steg pegs useless as they cover them too much, kriega setup fits better.
As for people mentioning doing the suspension.. unless you're a little fat, the bike handles the weight okay, even with a full tank. Filling the safari tank half way actually makes the bike feel lighter compared stock as it holds the fuel lower.
If you're gonna put LED indicators, it's worth mentioning that it requires an LED relay and diode fix in order to get them to operate correctly. Never been a fan of the click and collect indicators.
Other essential mods are 15/44 gearing, case saver, engine clutch/stator guards, bar risers, USB charger, seat concepts seat and a rear rack.
And as for people saying 'huskies are lighter' no doubt they are a superior bike, but could you do 5000km on them without an oil change? I wouldnt.
I agree with pretty much everything you said, bar using a phone as a nav tool. I’ve done it, but i used a cheap rugged android phone, and my iPhone was separate, used as a communication device. Catch was that the rugged phone was literally to dull in direct sunlight. Now, if I used ONE phone with a bright screen, chances are it would overheat or, if I broke it, or crashed and got separated from my bike, I would not have the ability to phone someone. So at least separating the two is a smart, safe thing to do. Dedicated GPS devices are always bright enough and built for purpose to be used outdoors for long periods - doesn’t have to be a trail tech, but companies like Thork, Garmin etc., can do the job.
Not having wrap around hand guards on a bike like this is fucking wild 😂
Great build
Not bad, needs a LED load resistor though for indicator lights, they are flashing way too fast. Also the std seat will be a killer, need a seat concepts or similar.
Where do I get a led load resistor ?my lights are flashing extremely fast and I’m blowing fuses everything couple months

Gee maybe they might start stocking stuff for these things, seeing as there's quite a few around and all
You definitely need upgrade the handlebars and add some rises -oem’s are like Way too weak-I would also change the gearing to at least 15/47-and as others have said mentioned definitely upgrade the suspension rating to carry the extra weight you’ve included on the bike- other than that looks like a nice job👍👍
Awesome 👏 wouldn’t mind a set up like that 👍🏼👏
Did you add bigger springs to the suspension? You’ve added a fair bit of extra weight, especially with the bigger tank & possibly all the camping gear for a trip away. The standard springs are only optimised for a 70kg rider apparently, the average Aussie rider with all his riding gear, some basic camping gear & that Safari tank full of fuel is going to be a fair bit above 70kgs! Nice build though. My DRZ is very similar these days.
Nice parts add.
You have an issue with the carburator fcr 39 ?
Do they still sell the drz today?
Yes
Is this the E, S or SM version? E’s are allegedly faster, better suspension and ground clearance
This is an E model :)
6:50 they are not barkbusters. Also I'd add suspension work to the list... fill the tank and the forks will bottom out 😂
That seat width though. It would be more comfortable to sit on a garden fence sideways.
Honestly the DR650 is a better platform for adding all that extra weight. That is a lot of weight for the DRZ400 chassis to handle, especially with a 100kg rider.
Shame it's been discontinued.
There’s a few of Aussie YTers that’ll disagree with you. JoshB (I think that’s his name) and Apprentice Adventurer
What's the curb weight ?
What trail tech is that
Did he mention too speed loaded down?
Sono accessori abbastanza belli, ma sembrano molto costosi. DRZ400 grande moto
🔥
need to do a bit of work on the audio management as well
I liked your video but had to swipe away 1/3 of the way through. Your music choice was just painful to listen to.
I thought it was how to make a bike lighter but it was about making it heavier with expensive parts. 😢
My XR650R dual sport weights 30 lbs less than a DRZ and is a HELL of a lot faster.
The removable indicators are a complete wank..."remove them so they don't go missing". Standard ones don't go missing so what's been gained, other than tearing up money on something that adds zero to the build?
Easy on, easy off (when you don't want them to disappear)............and expensive.
Put your indicators in your sack?? Sounds painful...
I wonder how many cry babies will say, fuel injection and or 6th gear in the comments?
That’s one hell of strange accent bud
Like it's kinda Aussie but all over the place at the same time?
Lightweight drz? 😂
I can't hear you do to that awful music
drz is not light weight compared to Huskies, etc, It is a heavy, underpowered turd of a bike. But I do like them!
...........and reliable as a stone axe.
@@graemesydney38 and just as heavy and slow. :) again, kidding, they are fine dual sports!
Any Husqvarna lighter than a DRZ is also has shorter maintenance intervals and shorter overall life overall. I see lots of DRZs with 30K+ km and not many 400cc Huskies seem to accumulates those miles before needing major, expensive overhauls. Compared to a KLR they are lightweight.
The DRZ is a weird beast. Yeah it is a bit heavy, but it does feel light when riding it.
You guys should be looking at a RMX450Z if you want something Enduro. They're ADR complied but pretty rare
LED driving lights........because riding on Australian roads AT NIGHT outside the city limits is just the worst idea ever. First kangaroo hit and your going to have a really nasty crash/collision. Just doesnt make sense. If you have to ride in the dark, you will be going slow and certainly wont benefit from long range LED driving lights, they actually encourage the wrong mentality.
Zed isn't a letter.
In Australia, and the rest of the world, Zed is a letter. “Zee” is made up by Americans😂 - it’s also the only country that butchers the pronunciation of aluminium 😂
@@martyn_g You ever heard of that band from Texas called Zed Zed Top?
