I’m right in the middle of it right now and getting the wheel well trim trees to release with pliers was near impossible. Luckily, a 5/16 socket is the perfect size to compress the tree to pop it out. Way easier than pliers. Thanks for the video. I’m sure it’ll go better now that the hardest part is done. 😂
This is a very informative, DIY approach to a task that might seem daunting to some. Mr. Stebbins seems very concise and methodical when it comes to working on his vehicles. I have seen his CTS-V first hand, and I cant imagine someone with a more meticulous attention to detail. If he hasn't already posted it, this should go in the XTS forum! - David, Lead Engineer at Weapon X Motorsports.
If you look at the pin from the side, you can see where you need to pinch with the needle nose pliers to release them. Gently squeeze on the backside and the clip will release
Nice video. What did you do with the trailer lights and can the panel be rigged so it goes back over hiding the hitch when not in use like the factory hitch?
I have a link for a Curt wiring harness for the trailer in my video description that is plug and play (and it's cheap on Amazon). The cover bolts back just like factory and hides the hitch completely when not in use 👍

@@larryjverna I actually just did a radiator on the car yesterday and that trick works for the front wheel well moulding as well 😁
I wish you would have shown the wiring harness and 7-way plug install too. Great install of the hitch though!
I'm using the hitch for hauling bikes so I don't have a need for that. However, you just need to plug it into the chassis harness

That means a lot coming from you. Really appreciate it!
Easier to take wheels off my hands were to big to get the clips off
whatever works!
Very nice video. I'm going to install one on my wife's 2021 XT6.
Thanks I hope it's helpful for you
Great video. Helped me out, a lot. Thanks for sharing. Well done!
Glad to hear it. Appreciate the feedback 👍
Can you install the hitch without removing the rear bumper cover?
No
Thanks a ton for this. You saved me $300.
Glad it was helpful!
I would have liked to see you remove the white pins. I have not unfastened that type... Very good video. Thanks

@@StebbinsGarage Thanks for the reply. I am good at messing up the tree type push pins. :)
Thanks amigo! Saved my bacon
Glad it was helpful!

Nice. And how much can it tow?
I believe it can tow around 4000lbs. We're just using it for our bike rack currently
What about trailer lighting?
There is a factory plug behind the bumper panel and I have a link in the video description for the pigtail to wire to a trailer
I wonder if i could get the twist lock bolts for the cover plate like the factory has on the factory install?
You might be able to...they don't appear to be available separately that I could find
Cadillac must have them, I would think. People must lose them somehow. Thanks again
