  • After my first video I received so many questions about different things relating to it, I decided to extend the details, and also my 2 additional boards have arrived so I will show them too.
    I have been asked many times if it is possible to use an old laptop screen (LCD Panel salvaged from an old laptop), watch the video and see how its done!

    Hi, I watched this video and the Part 1, and I ordered the board from banggood and I fully expected to come back here and ask a whole bunch of questions, but I got the board and plugged it in and instead of screwing up, everything worked perfectly, so thanks! I have re-used an old laptop screen as well as a 12v wall adapter which is only 1amp but seems to work fine. Excellent video!

    I've been toying with the idea of building a lcd test bench for use at work (amongt other things, we also repair laptops and monitors). With the info you've provided I'll be doing some research this weekend and present it, the possibilities and the costs to my boss on monday morning. your welcome, sorry for the slow response, this was a very popular video for me, I will be doing more, with desktop screens that only have VGA for instance, btw, you cal also buy a pack of assorted LVDS cables that would go a long way to setting up your test station

      A lads panel tester would be a big step. This one tool can connect with any pin any channel any res lcd panels. Once you have tested it to be working then you can go ahead and order the controller boards and do a repair

      @@TheBreadboardca it's long indeed, but very detailed, with important remarks such as not buying the 2018 firmware boards. For having gone through the search process only, I know there's a lot of experience behind. I have skipped parts of the video, which I will look again when I will search for the references of my own panel. The great stuff is that you've gone all the way to the end and setting up in real life situations, it's the first time I see such synthesis.

What would be your thoughts on finding a controller to utilise the original screen mate? Am I wasting my time? The screen spec is 640x240 half VGA(HVGA) 256 colours 8 bit. However HP did an original software patch back in the day so it could display 65,000 colours. Would a controller be available do you think? Thank you so much! 🙏🏻

    Hello! You mentioned at approximately 11:20 all you need to pick the controller board is resolution, number of pins, Channels and bits and voltage supply. So if I found a board with that criteria matching but the title of the board says "Controller board kit for xxxxxx" where xxxxxx is not my display name will it work? ( My display is CLAP070WP03XG which is 40pin 8-bit 1 channel 3.3V)

    Wannbe newbie here. Your video was a lot to take in at one sitting (actually more like four times with lots of rewind and freezeframe), but I feel reasonably certain that I can get old video displays to work. One item of concern (probably not important) is that I can not tell where the temple image came from when you connected to the Raspberry PI. I found myself inferring that the PI connection was required at all times, but that seems questionable. Also, where did menu-1-1-4-7 come from? It is certain that I will be referring to this video again before making any purchases and getting to work. Thanks.

    • @TheBreadboardca
      @TheBreadboardca  4 роки тому +1

      The temple image is just an inbuilt background from the latest Buster distribution for the PI. I used the PI as the HDMI source throughout the video. the code 1147 came from a bit of research online and it is a setup code for that controller, it is built into the controller firmware so it should work no matter what the source of HDMI is

    Good Evening. I have a lcd controller board hooked up to the screen from my old toshiba laptop to my PI400 and it works fine but I have to start up the Pi to a tv screen first and then switch it over to the stand alone laptop screen from my old laptop. The screen stays blank and says no signal until I start it up to the tv and then switch it. What do I have to do to just start it up to my old screen?
