Oh my gosh!! When i first saw this movie, the best part is when the Chicago Police Dispatcher announced that the use of "unnecessary deadly force in the apprehension of the Blues Brothers is authorized"! While not in this video clip, it was intermixed with all the crashing police cars by the way.....love the video!
The final tally : 59 police cars 2 RVs 1 Truck trailer 2 nazi station wagons 1 shopping mall 1 rooming house 1 propane tank 2 wristwatches Then finally, the Bluesmobile.
What was the budget for this movie? Granted things were cheaper and laws/regulations were different, but dear God the amount of smashed things is astounding.
@@FiveKnuckleShufflah Yup it’s the actual lines said by Steve Williams that was the partner Armand Cerami from the Illinois State Police and with John Candy in the backseat. Absolutely hilarious lines said for their dialogue
I must have seen this at Least 6 times in the theaters on the Southside of Chicago; back in 1980. We couldn’t believe than Mayor Byrne let them do this. After 20 plus years of tyranny under old Boss Daley, this WAS AWESOME!!😊
I am further amazed by the construction of drum shells… Didn't look like a single drum was actually broken in the scene. 😂 This will probably be my last activity before dying… I'll make sure the mall is closed at night though!😂
What I had heard, and its a beaut, that the Blues bros bought up all the patrol cars that were being repaired, took every used car repair car that even looked like their model parol cars, fixed up engine, and dash, tires white paint job, and told them to crash them all out 20 cars a crashed oout for the movie a new record! They bought new cars for the Chi police as a thanks you for abusing the city.ONLY the blues bros could do this!
It seems like in every single 80s or 70s movie with a police chase the police get payed more accordingly to how dangerous and reckless they try to catch a bad guy
Yeah, I always thought the Blues Brothers was just Smokey and the Bandit with a higher budget and better writing. The part where the cop car with john candy goes flying into the moving truck is almost shot for shot of the same stunt in Smokey and the Bandit
My favorite part is how calmly John Candy radios in that they are “in a truck.”
And as he laughs about it
@@irt3rdavenueel172 Typical John Candy. May he rest in peace.

The look on the black cop's face floors me.
“So how many vehicles will you use for the movie?”
John Landis: “yes”
It's not very surprising that they far exceeded their original budget XD
“How many child actors will you kill in your movies?”
John Landis: “only two”

I love how every crash some random person has to say that their watch was broken
I just love the sound of that 440 screaming at 120 MPH in city streets
Built for speed, baby!
440 was the Hellcat of its day.
I think they actually close that whole road just for the movie
@@dakotamcaleer6113yep, was closed for two days, for two clean passes, got up at 115 mph is what I read, and it shows, they were booking it!!!!
How about from county line to county line.

If I remember correctly, the mall, Harvey Mall, was deserted at the time. They filled it up just for the movie! Now the Mall is no longer!
How much money was spent on all those props you reckon?
They broke my watch 😂
the best I repeat the best compilation yet!
Love this too

Blues Brothers car destruction budget reminds me of Eric Andre’s desk budget. Obviously much larger scale but same gratuitous destruction.
WAHHHH WOOOO That 4 barrell sound.. Kick down woooo waaaa.. Check out the certified speedo 140 mph
BIAS PLYS SCREETCHH
I love this film
The greatest single car chase in movie history was the Mall sequence
the greatest car chase movie since smokey and the bandit
What do you mean by "single"?
I love the part where the red car jumps the bridge and flies through the sky and falls onto the asphalt.
Best ever! Needed that to survive 😅
“Hi! Wanna hand me the mic? Thanks a lot! Hi this is car um! What number are we? 5 5! Car 55! Um! We’re in a truck! Hahaha! John Candy RIP

The poor cars that were crushed. But hey they went in style to what ever happens to a car after it’s “death”

More money has been spent since then on die-cast Bluesmobiles!
