Lol the description makes me feel a bit self conscious, since I'm not well-versed in music theory at all and Scarlet Forest is one of my favourites in the ost. I really like this cover though, it is much more dynamic than the minute-long loop that is the original.
I don't think that it's more intellectual to dislike this song than to like it. I know a lot of music theory, and still liked Scarlet Forest a lot. It's just a matter of opinion, and doesn't reflect on you at all.
I think the music theory qualms The Second Narrator had were mostly to do with arranging the song. I've learned from personal experience that music theory revolves more around playing than appreciating music❤
I can definitely hear the Tchaikovsky influence! Now I'd love to see a ballet piece choreographed to this arrangement (I was definitely imagining one in my head)! I also feel like you've somehow connected this piece more to the original Undertale mood, with its mix of bittersweet and epic elements. Great work!
That was a good call purchasing new libraries for Black Friday. Your orchestration is magnificent here and the fact that you managed to extend this piece is absolutely insane. I'm loving the woodwinds and their passages here. You're very right when you say that the woodwinds add a very unique color to the orchestra. They have such a distinct timbre and it's very much noticeable. Additionally, I love how you've gone above and beyond, even citing Tchaikovsky's the Nutcracker. Also, your ability to characterize certain types of writing for different ensembles to emulate emotions is spectacular. I love what you were doing with the mischievous strings and then that ending. It's sublime. This, to me, is a testament to your growth and expanded knowledge from when you were doing the Link's Awakening re-orchestration. The production value is great and I respect you even more for this one. This was very much well worth the wait. Thank you for this Jeremiah.
"... and wrote a new ending that just makes you want to cry. It's great!" I enjoy reading your descriptions with the intermittent jargon that means absolutely nothing to me because you seem to put a lot of thought into what you write there. And then I see something like the above that just gets a hearty chuckle out of me.
Don't worry about writers block, I recently had an art block, and somehow I overcame it! Amazing track, every instument has it's own place and together they're in nice harmony! Good job!
Every time I see the notification that you’ve uploaded I smile inside. Needless to say my day was miserable, it was arguably one of the worst ones I’ve ever had, but I can’t help but smile inside whenever you upload, these orchestrations never fail to brighten up my day.
I wish I had read the description first. I kept waiting for the explosive resolution and the music kept receding. It felt like waiting ten minutes for a sneeze. It's 2 am, I was about to nod off and now I'm literally not going to be able to fall asleep anymore because of how much you jacked up my dopamine levels with this track.
I think I speak on behalf of us all when I say your struggles were worthy of what you created. This was wonderful! I'm sorry that you went through so many, but we're more than glad to hear this result!
All right then, UA-cam what the actual heck? You are telling me that FOUR years ago someone who hasn't even scratched 50k made a reimagining/remix of Scarlet Forest that is monumentally grander than the original and only _now_ do I find it? This. is. BLASPHEMY. And calling back to the four years ago date, it has only gotten around 140k views. UA-cam's algorithm is a cruel and unruly beast.
Man, you're so underrated. Your descriptions are amazing as always to read. A whole 10 minutes... it's like taking a Deltarune track and making it into classical music. I love this very much!
“So much better than the original” is stretching it a lot, that’s just plain disrespectful to Toby Fox, who probably spent HOURS making the soundtrack to his game. Blatant Brown Nosing.
@@HatKidPeck I think It is much more complex than the original but I do think they're different rather than worse or better and it is a bit rude to say it is much better than the original.
I just tumble myself in here. I don’t regret it at all . This scarlet forest cover to me beats all the rest . Simply beautiful ❤️ you earn yourself a subscriber !
I've been waiting for this ever since I heard the preview on Patreon! Definitely hearing the Nutcracker influence (particularly with the harp parts) and I love that this has a more magical/mystical feeling than the original! It does sound a little crowded at some parts, but I love the divergences as usual in your arrangements, haha. also at 5:00 that transition is just *chefs kiss*
I have to admit, the beginning is not my favourite: the fourth bar with it's reduced tone changes from two to one is not benefiting this melody... But other than that, it sounds amazing. Thank you for doing these great arrangements!
I love Scarlet Forest but I agree with the spam of the main theme, although I like it, it's overused compared to the existing tracks in the game. Don't worry about writers block as it happens to a lot of us plus this sounds really good, dont give give up :)
You have a very good and very deliberate sense of dramatic progression, and your orchestral textures are solid and beautiful. I appreciate that you didn't hide the limitations of the digital samples, and gave the music itself priority notwithstanding. I also like that you gave prominence to the counterpoint (what you called each instrument playing their own melody), which is something often kicked to the background in rearrangements, when in pieces like this should be brought to the forefront because it's the very thing than enriches the music. The fact that you know what instruments to give which lines to in the texture is also praiseworthy. The only note I would have is be careful with overestimating the volume of woodwinds if you write for a live performance, as without doubling they are easily drowned by the swelling strings and horns. I'm almost 5 years late, but I've only just come across this, and I love it. Keep it up!
As always, your remixes are among the best, if not the best. I truly love the original work of Toby Fox, and your orchestration does really do something great to it. I can't put words in English as I hear this masterpiece, so let me tell you that I find it "grandiose" as we say in French. It truly take me to the mood I have when I first played Deltarune, and even beyond because of the beauty of the music. Thank you for your amazing job !
This is my favorite, most beautiful cover of Scarlet Forest ever, no contest. Gosh. I've got goosebumps and I feel the magic you are trying to convey like the description says.
Thank you Sharic for making me read the description. Had no idea how much work goes into this. It feels so effortless just listening to it, but then I suppose it would given how much you've put into it. Absolutely incredible.
Dude, you're by far the best Undertale/deltarune coverer I've ever heard. You are a pro, you know to place all your Instruments in the acoustic room, you know how you should use all the many and different intruments that make your orchester complete. And Last but not least, you how to add details and epicness without destroying the core of the piece. All of your covers are my favorite of all the different covers of the same piece. So I like to say four very challenging words: YOUR BEST NIGHTMARE/FINALE !!!! I hope your creativity will one day say yes to this Idea :) Edit: I completely agree with sullys critic on the Video "the Legend". He totally points that out what I'm not able to tell in English :)
I didn't even see this until now... no idea how that happened but I'm certainly glad I listened to it now. Is there no track that you can't make your own? You're amazing, Jeremiah. You really are. Thanks again.
I was waiting sooo long for this mix. My favorite track in the game. I really appreciate the time and dedication you took into this one. It really shows! Bravo!!!
I think I had Dungeons & Dragons on the brain when I was listening to this, because the first thought that entered my head was that this piece would be *perfect* for Feywild ambiance.
hello fellow d&d enjoyer. wishing your irl journey be blessed, how have you been since making this comment? i just discovered this and also had d&d on my mind ^^' c:
I've been good. Admittedly in the time since my first comment I've had relatively few opportunities to actually play D&D, but in place of that I've found a genuine enjoyment of building fictional settings, coming up with interesting ideas for places and events, and finding creative ways to fit them together. I've been working on one main project in that time, but it's evolved so much over the years that many of the ideas this song originally inspired aren't even a part of the setting anymore.
Hot daym. I was just looking for inspiration for a piece I was writing that sounds very reminiscent of Scarlet Forest, so I went on UA-cam to find inspiration by looking for other similar tracks. I started with juts looking for an orchestrated version of Scarlet Forest and your video was the first result. I gotta say. This is bloody incredible sounding. You improved the original tenfold. Thanks for making this. I'm gonna be honest, I did not expect this to be this good.
Am i the only one who believes that it's one of the best ost ever made, so fantastic beautiful etc... would perfectly fit for an exploring game as long as it's worthy of carrying Toby Fox's music (i"m talking about the original ost, btw great job on the orchestrated version it is incredible)
Beautiful job! Anyone who can extend a short song and make it sound this great gets my vote. I can’t wait to buy this album, and hopefully an Undertale album as well.
I'm surprised you weren't a big fan of Toby's original track, but in hindsight, it makes some sense. Toby writes really good video game music, but Scarlet Forest was clearly written in the style of an orchestral track, so it only figures that someone like you would have a better sense of what makes a good orchestra =)
I am in love with your arrangements and have been listening to them for about a year plus. But after realizing there are only a handful of orchestral arrangements for a certain song that is very important to me I was just wondering if you would like to take a request. The song in question is The Grand Finale/In the Final from Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story. If you aren’t taking recommendations I understand as these things take a lot of work (especially Scarlet Forest).
A beautiful piece, quite a bit more enjoyable than the original. The original felt sort of tone deaf and I believe this version fits the area much better.
