  • Jeffrey Kottler has worked as a therapist in a variety of settings both within North America and dozens of remote areas around the world, and is the author of over 90 books. In this video, Jeffrey Kottler sits down with three representatives from Oxford University Press to discuss the Fifth Edition of his legendary On Being a Therapist, a text that has inspired generations of mental health professionals for over 30 years. In this candid conversation, the author explains the origins of his interest in therapy - going back as far as childhood - and his steadfast inkling to help people. He proceeds to talk about how being a therapist has the capability of enhancing other aspects of life, such as writing and teaching, in his case.
Throughout the interview, one thing is made perfectly clear: Jeffrey Kottler loves his job, and hopes that others who enter the field can share the same joy and satisfaction that comes with it. As he puts it, “it’s not just about entering a profession, it’s about entering a way of being, a way of living.”
