Welcome to an unboxing of a new release from Diamond Art Club that features their long-anticipated toolkit and packaging upgrades!! There are a ton of changes and I'm so excited to dive into them today with you as we open up "Everyday Witch's Familiar - The Bear" by artist Elisabeth Alba, a recent new release from DAC.
DAC has said that they have further upgrades on the way, including something to replace the "collectible" aspect that came with the cover minders in the old kits. I'm sure the would love to hear your feedback as you work with these new kits and their changes - please be sure to send any feedback you have with DAC. Hi everyone,
We're glad to see that most of you love the upgrades! We've been working on them for a while, and we've made a few changes that you'll start to notice by the end of next month (though not all new changes might be visible at once). Since this is the first unboxing video we see on UA-cam, we wanted to share a bit more!
- We re-added free heart-shaped pink wax so that you can continue to use it with the multiplacers if that's what you prefer. Initially, we removed it because although it works with the refillable pen, it's a little harder to maneuver and putty is better suited for that. But we're going to give you the option for both now.
- We made the putty inside the pens 15% to 20% harder, but kits shipping this month will still have the old formula. Putty hardness varies with the weather, and during our original testing in the winter, it was colder. By the time summer arrived, it became softer than we wanted, so we've already made an update. That said, the current one is still easy to use-just trim any extra putty sticking out of the pen and enjoy, it lasts forever!
- The new pen was inspired by feedback from many customers who were paying $7 for a premium refillable craft pen. We’ve used a similar concept but improved it, making the grip/pen more ergonomic and the plastic tip thinner so you can more easily see the diamonds when placing them. Plus, we’re including it for free!
- In our next update, we're removing the hard divider to reduce waste. However, everything will still be laid out exactly the same.
- By removing the tray, we've managed to shrink the box size to match our old box size, making it more economical to ship and saving space in your closets.
- We'll be offering refillable thin stainless steel tips that you can use with the new pens.
- We've removed tweezers and washi tape to reduce waste. However, we'll be offering affordable angled pink tweezers, along with a 3-pack that includes ceramic tweezers, angled tweezers, and regular ones. While washi tape isn't necessary with our perforated covers, we understand many like to use it for the border. So, we'll be offering an affordable 40-pack of random patterns you can enjoy. These will be of higher quality than the ones we used to include for free.
- The new perforated cover will be thicker than the current cover, which is already thicker than other brands, and will also have visible dotted lines so you can cut your sections clearly. We heard feedback that while the current perforations are great, they sometimes don't tear evenly because the perforations are hard to see, leading to incorrect pulling.
-Last but not least... the collectible aspect. We know some are bummed about not receiving the cover minders, but we PROMISE that the new items we’re including will make you much happier because you’ll actually be able to use them... and maybe... just maybe get free stuff? We're also thinking about offering cover minders packs separately if you really want us to. We'd make them random, similar to the washi tape we discussed above. We removed them from the new kits because we felt they were wasteful and redundant, and we kept receiving complaints about the magnets falling off, so we felt it would probably be better to just get rid of them.
Overall, we're super grateful and happy for the positive reception, especially as we've worked on these upgrades for the past 16 months. There's a lot more to come in terms of additional product upgrades and new products.

Thank you. I am an old stubborn woman. But, I use my tweezers not for Drills, but to remove shedded hair from my Doxie-Beagle Herschel.
I will learn to like the new.
I like the tray. The pen looks kind of interesting, too. The packaging upgrades are nice as well.

Love the new boxes! I will for sure miss the washi and cover minder! I understand not continuing the cover minders but the washi was super useful. I only had the chance to collect like 3-4 of the DAC cover minders though and would’ve loved more:( I do love the new sticker layout and I love how everything fits into the box better! The pen looks interesting but I have a feeling I’ll continue to gravitate towards my nicer pens. I will definitely be trying it out though! Thanks for sharing Katie!! Sending much love ❤️
I think this new tool kit is much more practical. I have so many pairs of tweezers that I will never need or use. I am actually still using the first pair of tweezers that I got years ago. I also never used the cover minders or tray that came with the previous kit. I do use the pick me up type pens so am loving that that type of pen will now be included. I also love the trays with the lids. I never used the old trays because I definitely need a lid! So I am really looking forward to getting the upgraded tool kit in the future!

Thanks so much for the down low on the new packaging. I have been a bit out of the loop this summer of the chatter so missed that change were a foot. I will definitely pop An email to Dac. Overall I think the new boxes are beautiful and functional especially with the new label sheet. I was sorry to see pink wax go and am on the fence on the new pen with refillable putty. I’m super happy they got rid of a lot of the other swag. I personally had way too many rolls of washi I didn’t like , cover minders that were broken half the time or I just didn’t like and had more tweezers than ever before used. Since I’m beyond start up I was happy to see a scaled back tool kit and had even voted to make them optional. I would rather have the cost to to the product and simple packaging and tool kit to keep the prices reasonable. As always thanks for providing information. When I was looking for information I knew your channel would help me out.

I wish they kept both the stickers 😢 i have a page with all the stickers so i have a overview of the diamond paintings i have. Then i have induvidual pages with all the information and dmc codes and i also like to keep the big sticker on that page. The new pen is super intresting tho! 😮

I love the new sticker sheets! I am a little sad about the loss of the smaller sticker for the log book. I like the idea of not including tweezers with every square kit but offering the option for the cost effective tweezer kit on the shop. I will miss the washi tape. I look forward to the other changes they will release in the future. Thank you for sharing the updated kit from DAC!
I was disappointed about the loss of the small sticker initially, but when I actually saw the size on the sticker(s) now included, I actually feel more optimistic! They’re a little bigger than the old logbook sticker but not as big as the old large sticker sheet sticker. I’ll be curious to try it out in my logbook!

DAC did say they will still be including the pink wax. They didn't initially because it doesn't work with the twist-and-pick pen, but they will still include it. And yes, you CAN quote me on that.
OOO....I'm looking forward to the new trays and pens. The tray stopper looks like you can put the drill label on it, so you can stack them with the labels out.

What I'll miss most are the old pens. I have tiny hands and fingers and thick pens are hard for me to hold. I use several at a time because I have single placers on one side and different-sized multi-placers on the other. I won't miss the washi tape (I prefer release sheets) but I do hope they will go back to unperforated cover sheets because the new ones keep tearing where and when I don't want them to do that. Thank you for bringing the changes to our attention.
I’ll be curious to hear what you think of the new pens! They’re thicker than the old ones, but not as thick as your typical hand-turned pen at all. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
If it helps I’ve seen places that sell those really thin pens online, and tbh why are really cheap too. So hopefully you can still get some. I’m the same way I like the thin pens too!
@@dadsinoz Thanks for the suggestion. I hope I can buy a variety of colors because I color-code according to the size of the multiplacers (I use yellow for 2, green for 3, light pink for 4, etc).
@@DiamondsandWashi I still have two kits from my last order, but if my next order contains the new tool-kit, I do expect to at least give the new pens a fair chance.
I'm interested in the interplay between the updated tool kits, packaging, and their potential effect on the final cost for us as the consumers.
I checked with them on whether we’d see a cost increase, and there won’t be one. There will be some new changes to the boxes that will eliminate some of the excess packaging. I’ll keep you guys posted as I see changes with the boxes - it may just take a little time for them to get everything just right!

The changes look great. Love the new trays as they are deeper snd wider with the new cover, thatvis such a great idea. I’m just wondering if the new pen tip is interchangeable with a different tip. Love the changes
Hmm, I’ll have to play around with it more and see, but at first glance, no, I don’t think it’ll be interchangeable at the moment.
I am looking forward to getting the new tray with lid (😃!) and try out the pen with putty. It will be a while till I get one though… 🙄 Only thing I don‘t like is more cardboard packaging….. sure a drawer like thingy is cool but also a bit wastefull… but maybe one can build a dressser or something with these boxes. 😄

Yes, I will miss the washi tape also. I put it around the picture. It helps me get an even placement of the diamonds. I love the tray.
Looks like a very generous tool kit. Not liking that pen though or the fact the tweezers arent included. I like the putty included rather than a cover minder 😊

WOW what an upgrade for new DPers! I have 60 in my stash and have been *away* for a bit since I had twins in 2022 - Diamond Art Club keeps proving that they are the best! I think doing away with tweezers made sense. I mean how many pairs do you need? lol - I did love the washi and the cover minders (even though I didn't use them much). But overall, this is a SOLID upgrade in all the right places. A quality tray and pen is the most important. Thanks so much for this video!

I prefere the older tool kit much more and the principal reason is because I already have my own things. Before the washi tape and cover minder was my excitement when opening the tool kit now i feel that I gonna throw much more plastic!

i use masking tape! a roll isn’t expensive and they come in all different sizes in the hardware section. the rolls last forever and i never have enough washi tape to cover the canvas anyway!
Thank you so much for the unboxing and showing us the new upgrade. I still do not know what to think about it. I think DAC was a firm which stood out for their nice package of tools and I realy enjoyed the surprise what whasi tape and coverminder I was going to receive with every new package.
I don't know if it is only me, but the new pen looks like a upgrade for their convenience only. A way to make you buy the puty they recently launched. It also looks very messy. Putty running out of the pen when you opened it for example or to find out how to reload the pen. I also wonder if it is at all possible to put wax in the tip only. The toolkit now is so very colourless unfortunately. Overall I am a bit disappointed.
Ooooh, I love the new way they have everything packed in the box. I very much like the new tray, but the pen...not too keen on that, but I already have a turned pen that I use so that's okay.

Thank you for sharing! I will miss the washi tape because I use it around the edges of my canvas, also not sure about the putty. It gets stuck to the canvas and strings, and doesn’t come off. I will just have to wait and see how that works out. I do love the new tray! Again, thank you!

Really hope they dont ever get rid of their tried and true wax, it's so universal. I love putty, but I understand it's not for everyone.
I get removing the tweezers and washi tape and selling them separately, but wish they would keep the higher bag count. Many kit up in baggies, and with more colors in kits now, it would be helpful.

DAC hasn’t shared specifics yet publicly, but there are new collectibles planned! I’m really excited and think a lot of people will really like them! ☺️
Hi...i find it so hard to purchase a kit from this company ...i just use my local supplier in South Africa but at most times so dissapointed cos the kits is so small

I like the new boxes! I especially like the new trays. I have a ton of the smaller ones i tend not to use them so thr bigger one with a lid and thicker stopper is a go to. The smaller sheet of eiththr sticker is nice, very compact. I will miss the bigger art piecess for thr sticker and thr small one, but i dont use them i just collect them, sk maybe thats for thr best haha.

Was very hesitant when they announced there would be new changes to the kits. After watching this video though I am super happy to see the image on the box in the way that I currently use the small sticker so I will still be able to easily tell and see which kit is which when they are stored. I love the idea of the larger tray being included and the pen might actually become something I use. Interested to see what the collectable option is going to end up being. I will miss my coverminders and washi though.

I think the pen looks a bit weird with the gap between the cap and the actual pen barrel. They spolied me with their beautiful slick steel single placer. But i am intrigued, and think it will be tweaked over time. The tray looks great, and the new sticker sheet looks good too. I typed this as you were showing the canvas, so laughed when you said you're intrigued too 😅
I really like the new tray idea. I just started using a bigger tray last year and then finally got some of my first 3-D printed trays because those little trays that it comes with are not all that great. I don’t know what to think about the pen, if it’s anything like ones that were used for other crafts, it may not work as well as we think. I didn’t mind the old packaging, but this is very bougie. I am still going to miss the cover minders.
DAC indeed said they'll also include the wax in future kits after they got feedback about it :)

Honestly, I still think there's too much waste - all those plastic baggies when almost everyone ends up with their own storage containers, for one. I'm sad they won't move the toolkits to a separate item you can add to your cart when needed, but at least the kits themselves have been upgraded. The new packaging looks really sharp, though! ♡
The putty is great but what about the Washi tape? I really use it. Oh no.
I hear you! Thankfully, you can get washi tape for really inexpensive price points from a lot of stores. And! DAC is planning to offer a mystery bundle of washi tape on their website for what they've said will be a low price point, if you want to keep an eye out for that in the future too.
I don’t think I will use the pen as I’m not keen on putty plus I like the really thin pens. I will also miss the larger sticker sheets as I store them in folders but I will see if this a small one to fit the little booklet. I’m excited about the new trays as I have been considering buying some that have lids and are stackable so slowly building up a collection is a great idea. I don’t mind losing the washi tape and wax as I can get them elsewhere online but i would love it if they sold them separately on the DAC website site :)
They’re planning to sell a mystery washi bundle on the website soon! I thiiink they said they’re going to start putting the pink wax back in too, but don’t quote me on that. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I personally think the new tool kit is beautiful. But it's not for me,I already have my set up. I am broke and cannot keep changing my set up. It's becoming unaffordable for me. I did not even get a chance to fill up my new tray tower,which I love. I wish they offer a choice between the old and new or atleast make it as a accessory u can purchase

I love the new box the the painting comes in but I don't like the tool kit very much. Theirs only 2 things that I would change The new pen. I have one of those and I never use it because you have to stop and fill it way to often and its a real pain to pull out the plunger and pushing it back in. If you put in to much you have to take some out till the plunger will fit..😡 And the sticker sheet. I like the larger sticker sheet and the small one. The new one wont fit in my 3 ring binder log book. It's a weird size. And the small one goes in my written log book .. Not happy at all with the new sticker sheet...😥 Other then that it all looks good.. Thank you for sharing... ❤
Overall I like the updates they have made. I can’t wait to be able to see it in person but…..it will be a little bit as I am on a no buy. 😢

I not know if I will like these changes. Hey, I threw a fit when computers went from Key punch to typewriter type with TV screen.

I love the new tool kit. But my one concern is whether the will increase the price of the kits to cover the cost. I’m on a limited budget so can only afford to get a DAC kit occasionally as it is.
From what I've seen, they aren't changing their pricing.
Not to sure about this. I will try the putty, but I’ve never used putty at all, I really hope they go back to including the pink wax at least, I use that or micro glue dots. The pen seems on the ugly side to me. I personally like the other sticker sheet better. It doesn’t necessarily bother me the washi tape or cover minder aren’t included. I use different washi tape that sticks better than what they included, and the cover minder, was more of a collectible factor for me, because I thought they were really to small to be very effective. The box… let’s just say, I like things to match, and now my stacking is going to be off. I know, petty.
I totally understand that not all changes are everyones' tastes! They did say they're planning to include the wax after all, but I assume it may take a bit for that to roll out. I also know they're planning to make some adjustments to the boxes as well. Maybe things will end up matching stacking-wise okay in the long run! I get it, I like matching things too. Hope that helps!

I'll try to do one in the next week or two, but I have a lot of kits on the way so it'll depend on what I have time for. I'm pretty darn sure that some of my fellow content creators picked up that kit, and I bet you'll see an unboxing posted in the next few days!
Like the overall changes but that pen seems like a pain and it looks like unnecessary cardboard packaging. Maybe they can offer a choice as to whether to include tweezers in your order… I can see new diamond painters missing out on this necessary tool.

I think that may still be about the same - I don't recall them saying they're making any changes to the glue.
The mat that you’ve got on the desk is really Pixley the pattern not good makes it difficult to look at

I mean unpopular opinion here but i do prefer the tool kits unchanged, the new tray and pen is cool but i already have my own ones, so I wouldn't care less about those and it's gonna end up in my pile anyway. I am gonna miss the coverminders and washi tape because I do use the washi tape to section all my canvases and the coverminders too. If I'm gonna spend $80+ on a canvas I do like the extra add ons aswell. Also the fact they're gonna remove the tweezers and charge money for them. Tbh i feel like they should've lowered the kit prices in exchange for charging the tool kits and add ons as an option

I honestly am not happy about the new stickers because I used the extra blank stickers to kit up with, and it's going to ruin my logbook if I buy any new releases, and my autism loves to have things the same. I like the toolkit and enjoyed the cover minder but never used them, have more than enough tweezers but wish the washi was still included. I like the pen and tray though. There's positives and negatives and I guess it's just the way it is.
I agree between my autism and OCD the new stickers are going to make me crazy. I used both the big sticker and the smaller sticker in my log book so This is going to be hard for me to make work. Thankfully I have extra blank stickers and I save them so hopefully they will last me a while
I hear you! I’m a little worried about the sticker inconsistency too (fellow autistic that I am!), but I figure I can always take a picture of the image and scale it down to print at the same size. Not super ideal, but workable if it really bugs me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I still do not understand why we need a cover for the tray.
it has a lot of uses, some people stop mid painting to go do things so the lid might help especially if they have pets to make sure the drills don’t spill, or some that are beginners who have trouble shaking the tray without spilling.
@@liyadrenI understand if you have pets or little kids, otherwise I just love a deeper tray so if you shake it, the beads do not spill.

I love the new kit. I am wondering what they were planning for AB’s …does the putty works well with ? because in my experience it is not the case usually..
I never really cared for washi tape, kinda useless in my mind and you never know what will stick well. The pen could be prettier maybe they'll add different colors, that one looks really drab. As far as the tweezers go I won't miss them, personally they just scratch up the diamonds I prefer eyebrow tweezers, they have better grip and accuracy. Sorry, just sayin'

Personally I'm not a fan of the new kit, I will miss the cover-minder and washi tape.
I like the new sticker sheets , the packaging in the box, and the toolkits.
