I purchased mine in about 1988. New mirrors, tires and a blackened out windshield are the only changes. The red and black is sharp. It's a great sounding bike. I was told that it was the fastest production bike when it first came out. The Kawasaki factory video can still be viewed.

I had one of those for years. Put over 100k miles on it in Phoenix, mostly city miles, then sold it to a motorcycle repair school, and it still ran perfect. Wonderful bike. Still have dreams about it. One of the best looking bikes ever made.

The motorcycleshop on my block had a black/red 1984 Yamaha RD500 LC on display (before Covid shut them down) with delivery miles on it, seeing a new 35 + year old bike is so amazing.

Super example, used to have one new, back in the 80's. A couple of things however; please remove the aftermarket "turbo" sign in white and you need to reattach the rubber edge, covering the canopy. It's a security device, in case of a head on, so you won't be cut in half.. And an interesting starter key....

I was able to remove the turbo sticker. It was soft vinyl and there was no sun damage or issues removing it. I did install the factory trim and end caps on the fairing and also installed an OEM clear windshield. The trim was extremely hard to find. Had to get it from Germany.

Just so you know you fill the oil to the low level line. Do not fill to the middle of the sight glass. It’s on a Kawasaki bulletin
