"Let's play some Mage Knight." I've never heard a more satisfying sentence in my life. So many content creators dredge up the first 1-2 minutes of a video with introductions and recaps, which is fair but gets repetitive over the years. Thank you for respecting our time.
Jorge Miguel López Jiménez countryside tiles can be adjacent to a tile which is itself adjacent to two tiles, keeping within any map restrictions on shape.
Back to Mage Knight... how great. As a matter of fact, you started my love for boardgames with your old MK videos. Although my wallet isn't thankful, I really am, for starting me on that journey. Thanks Ricky.
Your videos are always informative and entertaining. RR you are the reason I purchased MK and learnt the rules so easily. I have to thank you for that. I have enjoyed every game no matter how frustrating it can be at times. Thanks again.
It feels like 2012 again. I am glad to see you take another go at this. Your content is amazing as always. Also, we need to increase our reputation by 1 after we take out the zombie horde. Rampaging faction enemies give reputation the same way as their non-faction counterparts.
Commenting 2020 clip is weird, but cannot help to do it. It's seen in BGG forum that this channel is the most educative one. Really like hearing good players' explanation and that makes watching game play meaningful.
9:00 not blocking the Familiar attacks will be 6 wounds, not 8 (Brutal doubles the attacks, not the wounds) - still knocks you out. brutal start. I probably would have picked Planning and gone for the Mage Tower. when you reveal Familiars, they're killable with the hand of Swiftness x2, Concentration - not sure that you want to wait to assemble that (also needs an extra mana from Mana draw or earlier Crystallize). Or maybe 7 attack 3 block is easier? 23:10 "only Ice block is effective" - no, only Fire Block is effective. 26:14 don't forget Shapeshift is only on Basic cards. Great to see a new Mage Knight playthrough!
Spot on! Yes, I misspoke on Brutal... thank you for spotting that one. Yes, I could have waited to get the right hand; that's not a bad tactic. But I think I did okay at the end of the day pushing onwards... So many choices! Hope you enjoy the rest of the series, R.R.
Well ... That was unexpected. Brings me back to when i discovered your channel and wanted to learn this new and complex games i had just received called Mage knight. Oh my how time goes by. Thank you to bring me back to those happy times.
Ricky Royal and Mage Knight... I am looking forward to this absolutely. I wish you well on your adventure. Thank you for sharing your insight and passion for the game.
Just bought MK Ultimate edition and everywhere I looked people recommended your playthroughs to learn how to play. After watching this I can see why. Awesome content! Subscribed.
Yours was the first board game channel I subscribed to (2012) and Mage Knight was the first game play through I watched. This upload therefore is a very pleasant surprise. Thank you.
Man you are the best!!! I've been trying to find mage knight gameplay for a while. I've learned all the rules, but I still suck at it. So I have tried to just watch someone play, and not explain every little rule. Do more of these pleaseeeee
Hey Ricky, nice to see some MK again! Thanks to you and your videos, I bought and learned both Mage Knight and Robinson Crusoe; two excellent games. I have watched your MK tutorials so many times when learning the game, that I get a warm nice feeling inside when I hear the intro music to those videos. Keep up the good work👍👍
Glad you took the time to go back to it, I’m doing the same since last week with this quarantine thing, what a coincidence cause I had to check your old videos in fact!
oh! how did I miss you posting these?! perfect quarantine viewing material! I'll be catching up and probably playing my own MK right along side ya, M8!
I am so jealous of his mana crystals. They're actually brightly colored and shiny. I bought the original and the latest Ultimate Edition, and the mana crystals are muddy, dull, and look nothing like that!
Hey Ricky, Nice to see a new Mage Knight campaign. Good luck! This week my german channel will start the 4th series of Mage Knight. This time: full cooperative with 2 Mage Knights. It was epic.
I always like taking Planning in the first day because I find I often just use a couple of cards, so having 6 for the next hand, often helps. I never knew you took the benefit token for beating a tezla enemy in a non-Tezla scenario. I need to start doing that because they're definitely a bit tougher.
Boom. Box of Delights. Mage Knight! 2020. I did a double take when this showed up in my feed. Awesome. I love this game and I learnt to play it with your help Ricky! You know it’s a bad first day when you don’t get off the first row! 😂What brought this one back to the table? Not that I’m complaining. 😀
Hooray for MKBG! One thing I've started doing is putting mana tokens on the map whenever I draw mines and glades. It's easy to forget their benefits when you're figure is on top of them, especially after combat with a rampaging enemy on an adjacent hex. I also keep a couple shield tokens next to my deed deck and put them on it before starting a fight. That way if I'm due a combat reward or level up, I know to take them before drawing. But therein lies the challenge to the game, remembering to remember to follow the rules. Ricky, it broke my heart to watch you take those three wounds from the zombie horde. With one more (spell) card, the movement from Improvisation would've reduced its attacks to zero, and you could've killed it with Blood Rage. Since it was your last turn of the round, I think it would be fair to wind it back and say you discarded the spell card with Improvisation, but it may be too late for that. Here's to watching you pull a rabbit out of the hat and conquer those two cities!
@@SoloClub123 The Zombie Horde had cumbersome. You can use movement to reduce their attack, and unlike a regular block you can split up the movement points however you want to do the attack reduction. A move 3 in this case would have completely nullified its attack.
Haha! I fixed my mistake before the start of day 2... maybe i didn’t do so badly after all .. 3 less wounds is a lot better! Thanks for the support ! More coming soon....
hey, really enjoy your MK videos. It would be interesting if you added a little bit more comments on your decisions along the way - for example I was quite surprised that you replaced your illusionist so quickly after hiring them, and I would be interested to see how many wounds you'd be happy to take for the early mage tower etc. Please make more MK videos :)
@@BoxofDelights I think you also forgot the reputation boost from the zombies. Edit: ah, you got it! I didn't see it in any other comments but I see you caught it! Cheers! Love your walk throughs and love Renegade!
Hey man, awesome video :) Would be amazing if you could do a video on a hero tier list. Which are the strongest in order and also rank their skills. Would help new comers a lot I rate :)

Hey Ricky - is this the Ultimate Edition version? Some of the components are different colours to your old skool videos (that got me hooked on this game!). Thank you so much for sharing (and creating) such excitement for this epic board game. I doff my helmet to you, sir.
At 19:10 why did you reveal the zombies? I thought during night time It is neccesary to get to an adjacent hexagon to peek. Just learning the game... Very good video, thanks for sharing
Hi ! Good question; Zombies are rampaging enemies; they are not hidden. It's the enemies in Fortified sites like Mage Towers that are hidden, both Day and Night, and then revealed during the Day [only] when players are adjacent. The ones running around in the countryside are always face-up. NOTE: your reference cards will help you with this, so keep them handy whilst you play and refer to the 'when revealed' text on them when you turn a new tile.
Hey Ricky, been really enjoying solo conquest after playing several First Recons. These map tiles look more vibrant. Are these custom printed? Thanks again, for your content. I'll probably get Hoplo in a few months, since that one is rated very positive on the solo experience. Unfortunately, I can't find your game Renegade, as I came a bit late to the party. Cheers!
