Hi Matt I truly enjoy your videos allows me see other parts of the world through your eyes. I know you have talked about request you get regarding the reversing the camera and your thoughts on that. My little input is that yes reversing the camera allows many to see what your experiencing as you travel the beautiful landscapes as you go. Just my input best of luck and I wait for more footage.

This was interesting to me, Matt. You not only showed us what you used but gave great reasons for why you do so.
Nice simple lightweight set up for travel. 👍🏼 I also have a similar tripod/selfie stick from insta360 that i love. So much more portable than a regular tripod. I know you recently got the new G7X III with the ext mic jack which is great. Hows that working out? Did Canon fix the focus issue tho? Thats the only thing keeping me from nabbing one for my travels. Insta360 just released an interesting camera. It’s a modular 360/action cam set up with a 1” sensor module & f 2.0 lens from Leica. It has an ext mic jack & can also use your wireless apple AirPods to record audio. All for less than the Canon G7XIII. It could be a viable replacement and convenient lightweight all in one travel solution. Especially with that 1” sensor. The first action cam to have one. Reviews are coming in now. And if the image & audio quality is as good as they are saying, I may get one instead of waiting for the next Canon G7XIV.

Maybe can add a small clip of local food you eat along the way...
Also can get see through waterproof bags for cameras for wet weather or underwater shockproof housings the audio levels may have to be upped though ?
Matt definitely has lots of hours of R&D into the tricks of his trade. I certainly do hope other UA-camrs who he has helped will give him the credit he deserves.

Brill how bad is the cat with the Velcro re wind noise need flash for underwater photography the fill flash maybe cut around the cat to size have been looking for a mono pod with tripod bottom for a while come across one recently arriving soon just hoping head is sturdy.

Awesome video, not sure how I can incorporate this... but I love your tripod setup. I have only ever used traditional tripods and I completely understand that frustration. Just makes sure you don't ever swing your extension into an incoming car and watch your G7X explode... :O
Anyway, you're by far my favorite vlogger. Love your combination of storytelling, adventure, and informative videos.
Another use i had for such an extending stick is keeping dogs away. Saved my leg from a dog bite when biking to Kaliningrad.

I had been wondering. I think you covered all the bases. I have recorded myself with a cell phone on a cell phone holder mounted above the crank wheel on the light bar of my recumbent trike. Since both it and me are hitting the same bounces at the same times and I have it unwaveringly tight to the frame I've noticed my face remains without shake and the objects behind me have the shake effect reduced by lack of proximity. With balloon tires on low pressure at low speed I get no noticeable shake.

What tripod do you use for your drone?
I has mounted the action cam on my motobike, the vibration will be transfered to the cam. Comparing with the sony x3000r and the gopro hero 6 black, the real optical stabilizer is more better.
Just for a moment I thought you had skinned a "road kill" cat and were using it as a mic sock.....
I hope by this time next year to be doing some traveling. Newer mirrorless cameras. Biggest killer is the lack of the big 3; flip screen, microphone input and changeable lens. Video quality, battery life and lightness is there. I just don't get it. Thanks for sharing.

That battery powered light-up print two videos ago is awesome though.
Instead of using superglue which will do permanent damage, try "Shoe Goop" which is gap filing and removable over time.
Hmmm. Probably not the way I use it. In and out of my bag. In the weather. Constantly moving. I brutalize it.
Hey Matt, I suggest you give this stuff a try in the future. BTW, I believe you'll discover the insects get BIGGER as you travel further south in Taiwan. There are spiders the size of a human face!
What software are you using to do you end screen shots where it plays a video in a small box?

awesome mat! seems like you have spent a lot time and effort on trial, error, and testing on equipment to get all just right. I would think a new tech gimbal should sponsor you! Never give up on a solution to a known problem (others need it too)! especially if it increases followers. I love your city walks but film quality is an issue. I would think many viewers are watching you on big screens (not laptop or camera viewers). What edit tools do you use to avoid a 4 foot "mat head" and a 6 inch view of taiwan on our screens? I know you have mobile considerations that other vloggers do not, but you are JAYOE ! Your drone footage is to die for even when it just briefly showing mundane film objects. Keep on! and never stop when it comes to improve quality. You have a great Idea viewpoint! keep sharing and always improving !
Matt shows ALOT of his travel environment so STOP complaining. Otherwise, travel to the places he's been and experience it for yourself. You're doing great Matt! Jayoe

Guess there’s no way to get a wider angle lens onto that camera. That way you won’t need to extend your tripod so far.
Different strokes for different folks but I click to hear your story. I do appreciate your environmental b-roll and drone work too, just not my main interest
