I want to add to #3 “I wish I had the courage to express my feelings” - We need to reflect on the kindness we received that we hadn’t thank the givers, and the wrongs we’ve done to ppl whom we hadn’t apologized to. Then, seek out these ppl to thank them or apologize to them. Moreover, don’t be shy about telling your loved ones u love them!!
I've had so many co-workers who died soon after they retire. As soon as I retired I realized how I have more time taking care of myself than before and by start cooking my own food consistently than eating outside during work time. Even having the time to brush my teeth after morning coffee to eliminate the stains and stop depending on dentist cleaning which save costs, tooth enamel, and stain resistance. I also learned why we tend to lose our teeth as we get older, going to dental cleaning twice a year or so is the worst thing you can do to your teeth, just learn to how to clean your teeth (watch Dr. Ellie) and you can save your gum n teeth before too late. Your gum n teeth directly impact your health and organs if you don't know how to take care. I know I sound off subject here but it's all about health. Eating right and taking care your teeth and gum will save you so many things at later years when you retire. What's the point of retiring and going to doctors every month for medication check up... Health is wealth.
As a psychiatrist, I wish all of my older patients could hear this video, because people express to me their fears related to retirement and they usually focus on money, and not life.
The winner at life is one who dies with the fewest regrets!
This is why I told my husband I wanted him to retire sooner rather than later. My mother passed in November and he's the only family I have beyond our grown children. We can swing the financial part so now he can do lots of things he wants to do.
I am proud to say I have lived my life following all five points. It is a very difficult thing to do as all the forces around us are trying to pull us into their negativity.

I don’t want to live like a pauper in retirement. I want to go to a restaurant with my wife and not worry about eating around 4 so we can get a free appetizer to split with our split meal.

Hi James, I am an avid listener of your podcast/videos and have learnt so much. I have a question that I do not think has been addressed anywhere. In my brokerage account, I have an option of selecting my COST BASIS method. I can elect for one of 5 or more methods listed and I have no idea what would be the best! How would I determine the best method? What method do you use for your clients?

I certainly have 11 minutes to pay attention to anything James has to say. If he put out a 40 hr video I'd watch every minute. Your equation may be different than mine as an 11 minute recipe for a better next 45 years is definitely a good trade. Rest assured if I had 11 minutes left to live I wouldn't spend it scrolling UA-cam!

He is referring to Matthew 7. Of course Jesus knows and unconditionally loves all peoples. But not all people love God, not all people are followers of Jesus Christ. Knowing Jesus is not enough, you have to declare Him Lord, believe His resurrection/ascension and put His Word into practice. Christians are saved not by good works, but by FAITH and good works.

I'm so tired of hearing you tell people not to work hard, focus on their feelings, and happiness blah blah blah....i watch and like your videos to recharge my motivation to do mostly the exact opposite of what you coach people to do taking the easy path for most financial decisions....
