    The Kobudo Asayama Ichiden Ryu, of which Seki Sensei is the 22nd headmaster, was one of the most popular Ryuha styles during the Edo period. In our golden age, we had over 7,000 students nationwide. Today, we only have 100 students. Our dream is to revive the golden age of Asayama Ichiden Ryu while Seki Sensei is still the headmaster. We want future generations to remember Seki Sensei as the legendary Sōké who brought back the glory of our Ryuha. Your donations will be used to cover Shogo's travel expenses to visit the main dojo from Kyoto, UA-cam video shooting costs, online lesson operation costs, and training camps in Japan and overseas.

    Everything that Shogo uses for their katana training is bought at this shop… Shogo still uses the first training katana he bought in 2016 and is still in good shape!

    I have been a student of Seki Sensei for a little over 2 months now and I have to say: even though it is online, it is better realized, more authentic and therefore feels better than anything I could find here in Germany :-)

    I love how much you can tell in every video how much Seki-sensei was born to teach, he always looks so happy to be showing something new despite seeming like a serious person.

    The big swings are good for embedding the movement into your mechanical subconscious mode. BUT you must then transfer into doing it as slick-minimalistic and meaningful as possible.
    I am vey honored to be able to see all this material 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻.

    I love this channel so much. So many interesting things to learn for someone like me who adores martial arts, and especially swords.

    I could not help laughing at the expression "helping of seppuku." I love this channel. It is very accessible to me as someone with no real understanding of Japanese and yet it retains a distinct Japanese flavour.
    It goes without saying that I am always impressed with how smoothly Seki Sensei moves. I have started online lessons but I am tempted...
    Keep the videos coming Shogo!

    Juntō (Kaishaku in Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu) is, in a way, an odd kata in the middle of the Omori Ryu set. Whereas in every other kata in this and other sets of iai-gata, one needs to exhibit seme, it is unnecessary in this kata because there is no teki (enemy). For me, it made for an interesting experience in doing the Omoir Ryu set to 'turn off' seme only while doing this kata.

    • @letsasksekisensei
      @letsasksekisensei  Рік тому +9

      Practicing this Kata was necessary because any samurai could be chosen as the “Kaishaku” for someone. Especially if the samurai committing Seppuku was close to you.
