Super wholesome. Same!! Nothing beats my mom's fried chicken but I'm gonna experiment and learn some stuff so she isn't cooking all the time and I can surprise her at times. Good luck and stay in practice, you can only go up
I'm 27 and i never learned how to cook meat. Thank you for this! Today, on a random Sunday night my boyfriend is gonna be surprised with my new skill, hehe
So, I'm 28. And I'm trying to teach myself to cook more instead of always getting delivery. As someone who is super scared of blowing up my own apartment, thank you for making such a simple and easy to follow video. I'm making this tonight.
I was thinking the same. I don't have a meat thermometer. I'm definitely going to cook it the way she did but to speed that part up, where I don't have to stay near the stove so long , in going to par boil the legs in a herb, water and olive oil brine for about an hour. Bring it to a boil for two or three minutes, lower heat to simmer and cover with tight fitting lid. They should be nearly cooked after that so all I'd have to do is put some seasoning, oil pan and brown as she did in the first steps. Maybe do the 9 minute lid cover as well (to be safe). Attempting today during the hurricane from St Pete fla. 🎉
Great question! To ensure your chicken drumsticks are cooked thoroughly and don’t have any blood or red fluid, here are a few tips: Check the Internal Temperature: Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. Chicken should reach 165°F (75°C) at the thickest part (usually the bone). This is the most reliable way to ensure it’s fully cooked. Cook Evenly: Make sure to cook the drumsticks evenly. You can start them on medium heat and then increase to medium-high to get that nice brown color while ensuring the inside cooks through. Let Them Rest: After cooking, let the drumsticks rest for a few minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute and can help reduce any residual pinkness. Cut into One: If you're unsure, you can cut into one of the drumsticks to check. The meat should be opaque and the juices should run clear. When in doubt, just cook them a little longer and check again. You can also cover the pan for quicker cooking. By following these tips, you should be able to enjoy perfectly cooked chicken drumsticks without any blood or red fluid. Happy cooking! 🍗✨
Flour is not needed. It takes about 25-30 minutes to cook them, turn them every few minutes, best to use the instant-read thermometer to make sure the internal temperature is at least 165F.
@MelanieCooksRecipes Thank you for responding to my comment 🤗 I understand it will cook thoroughly without the flour I just need to turn the chicken over every two to 4 minutes. I do not have a instant thermometer but I can buy one. Thank you 😊
You are welcome! You can check if it's done without a thermometer too - just cut the chicken leg and see how it looks, when it's fully cooked it's no longer pink and the juices are clear (not pink or red). Good luck!
@@MelanieCooksRecipes hi gorgeous..the chicken legs turned out great thxs again. Do you have any videos on cooking a brisket in the oven please let me know ❤…you are so pretty 😍…thxs for all you’re videos they help me alot with cooking
It's been around 6 years since my frypan has seen chicken drumsticks. That job has been for the Airfryer / Ninja ever since. Maybe I should checkout the 'old school' method and have a reunion. I've forgotten what a pan fried drumstick tastes like 🤤🤔.... Cheers Melanie
They will cook eventually, you just have to cook them long enough :) To speed up the process, you can cover them with a lid while cooking, it helps cook them quicker
Here’s the printable recipe with times (scroll down to the bottom of the page for recipe card): www.melaniecooks.com/pan-fried-chicken-drumsticks/38886/
Sorry it didn't cook through. The times are approximate and depend on the size of the drumsticks (big ones take longer to cook) and your stove heat settings. Basically if they are raw inside, you just need to cook them longer. I recommend using an instant-read thermometer to make sure the internal temperature in the thickest part of the drumstick is at least 165F.
Yes, whenever something on a pan (no matter which recipe) starts to brown too quickly, always reduce the heat. You can cover the pan with a lid to help it cook quicker, it should really help for bigger pieces of meat.
I have the video for baked ones too: Baked Chicken Drumsticks ua-cam.com/video/_RB8cphhCf4/v-deo.html There are many ways to make them, I also make them in the air fryer, instant pot and on the grill. It’s nice to have options :)
It’s not raw, it’s perfectly cooked - no longer pink in the middle, juices run clear and the instant-read thermometer registers at least 165F. You can always cook it even longer if you prefer.
You gotta keep in mind that a lot of people who know how to cook aren't here. We are a minority group. Plus, some people grew up really rich and their parents just ordered our daily then one day, they went to college and got a reality check.
I've always wanted to know how to cook. I'm 14 and I'm trying to make my mother proud for me..but this really helps me, ty☺️..

Even the thickest ones will cook through eventually, they'll just take a long time :)
@@MelanieCooksRecipes should I use a lower temperature for thicker ones? To avoid burning?
Yes, whenever something on a pan (no matter which recipe) starts to brown too quickly, always reduce the heat. You can cover the pan with a lid to help it cook quicker, it should really help for bigger pieces of meat.
consider buying a screen for the pan so the oil doesn't spray all over the place/

You can use any seasoning you like!
