Please continue making more amazing educational videos. I was a practitioner for 20 years and waited a long time for kukkiwon to do these videos. From England 🏴
My girls just learned this form. I do not believe it is enough to do the dance but to try and perfect with practice and understanding. One of their instructors shot the link to this to me. I have to remember to thank him and of course my thanks the folks that took the time to share their knowledge and skill to help hone the skills of the girls and everyone else as well. The details of each move and stress on posture provided are missed by so many, especially if you are in a large class with less one-on-one opportunities with the instructor.
@@ImortalZeus13 Perhaps you do not understand what it means to speak metaphorically. What you commented on is a perfect example as just about everyone knows is is not a dance. If you still do not understand, let me explain. “Do the dance” means to perform in a specific way or do something specific with a set of steps. You can probably Google it for an even better example. You’re welcome for the education on the use of speaking metaphorically.
For the ones who watched Cobra Kai Season 5... It's the only pumsae performed there in Silver's Cobra Kai... Take a look again, it appears many times, different parts of the pumsae, but always Koryo :) An easteregg exclusive for taekwondo practioners hehe Taekwon!
@@absolutdenarius7728 You're welcome. That's all for Taekwondo pumsae there. Besides this, we got three Gojuryu Karate-like katas there (Karate Kid/Cobra Kai franchise), named Hakutsuru-ken (by Miyagi-Sensei), Seiyunchin (by Daniel Larusso) and Kanku Dai (by Samantha and Robby). The last one is well known in many other styles like Shotokan, besides the more traditional Okinawan ones. Of course, it's only choreographical, so we don't expect a good martial performance of the actors. And from all those, there are just parts of them by the movies and series. And that's all I know about pumsae/kata there :)
that would make sense since silver did practice Tang su do which is korean equivalent of karate iirc, so it would make sense that elements of Tae kwon do would show up
I show respect to those great Taekwondoka who 1- practice hard 2 - practice what they teach 3- recognize their system is compact enough for a 10 year old to reach black belt - there are many such great practicioners of the art, masters of kicking and punching. All martial arts are different, different heritages, diferent amounts of Sylabus, some for different purposes, even different styles of same martial arts, should not be compared. because One - we dont live in war states, we dont beat each other up for food or flag, Two - there were all made for different purposes. So chose your purpose, then you'll find your martial art. (I do Okinawa Karate)
I really liked teaching this form it has a little bit of everything in it. :) Good Times back in the day. Stopped at 3rd.D. taught 5yrs after that I really loved teaching, and learning I taught myself the rest of the forms 5th D on up on my own with a little help from the internet and Books: ) Very Cool video with the back display of the form. Awesome stuff. On a side note though I'd really like to see the self defense applications of these moves included at the end of the videos I think it would give the viewers a good idea of how the moves are suppose to be used. Thanks for the video Great editing.
nice vid and good clean production values. I had no idea KuKiWon had a channel. favorited! 40 years later, I'm still proud of my belts. Love Koryo but 3rd degree form Taebek is still my favorite. my only comments are a) that was the most dispassionate knifehand groin strike/grab I've ever seen (we leaned in a bit) and b) we were taught to pause on the I-part a little differently. nice to see how you "officially" interpret it.
Amazing Turtorial Videos .Thanks for uplownding , one thing please change the background of videos any other colour . not white please for better vision
This was explained clearly here than it was when it was taught to us :) It could have been better if there was an english translation of each moves instead of korean term. We were taught of the english term not the korean term although our instructor was korean :)
Hi, very nice video. By the way, what is the difference between Han Sonal AereMakgi and Sonal AereMakgi? Same as Sonal BakkatMAgki and Han Sonal BakkatMagki? Ageumson Kal Jaebi and Ageumson Apchigi? NulloKKeogi and MourupKeogi? Thank you.
Hansonnal means onehanded knifehand. The other Hand rests on the Hip as Ellbowthrust during the Technique. A normal Sonnal Technique uses the other hand as support by placing it in front of the stomach most of the time. Same goes for Sonnal-Bakkat-Makki and Hansonnal-Bakkat Makki. Sonnal has a supporting Hand. I am not fully sure about the Agwison (Ageumson) technique. The Ap-Chigi is definetly a thrust with the side of the lower index Finger, with arc hand as support. Khaljaebi is just a synonym as far as i know and describes the same technique, but khaljaebi definetly always attacks the neck, while Ap-Chigi can be executed to any body part and height. Mureup-Kukki and Nullo-Kukki are probably synonyms as well, because they are executed the same way. It might also be that "nullo" attacks below the knee and "mureup" above.
I forget after each belt I complete (don't feel bad) it's only a matter of time that when I get to 2nd degree black & he asks me to do some of the colors on testing day... (& puts me back as white belt 😒 but eh I guess I wasn't worthy yet)
What are your thoughts on the double sidekick? Low/ non existent knee for first kick then just fly 2nd side kick up? I’m not disrespecting Kukkiwon but seems less traditional?
@@mika._chii I believe and have always been taught after the first kick to bring knee back in for second side kick.. that way you are hitting the target with the force of the kick going forwards, how they demonstrate it the kick is just flying upwards and potentially missing target - just my humble opinion, wondered what others thought
@@BlahBlah-ef9os I've noticed this with a lot of competitive poomsae performers. It almost looks like they just raise the leg with very little chambering of the knee.

I am preparing for my first degree right now. This is a great resource. It's taken me 7 years to prepare for my promotion.
I beg your pardon 7 YEARS?! I have been doing taekwando for like 3 years and i am already red black belt, about to get my apprentice.
