Squire has some amazing padlocks but they are not available in Canada. I once tried to order them from the UK. The price is very reasonable given the quality but shipping was impossibly high and I gave up the idea. I wish they'd start distributing in other countries.
I like that he usually has something good to say about the company, even though a certain product line falls short. And through these videos, we learn why. That's all I have for you today.
LPL made a mistake guessing the second number, the lock detected that at 2:12 and automatically opened as no one knows what happens when LPL fails his first attempt to open a lock.
I spotted that, but I think it was just a matter of that one wheel being stopped just ever so slightly before the open position; had he been way off, that one wheel does not cooperate as readily.
Having just purchased the Covert Companion, I really appreciate seeing you use it in your videos. Very educational. Thanks for the great tools & content!
Same with British payphones. The cash boxes on the 1930's version (the Buttons A and B type) were just about impregnable - made of heavy steel with a 6 lever barrel key lock (like Bell, each cash box key was different). Then they developed a newer type in the 1960's and as forced entry had never been a significant issue the cash boxes were of weaker construction and there was a spate of break-in's and thefts. They quickly had to beef up the strength of the cash boxes.
@@netking66 Gosh...I haven't seen a pay phone in years. I guess they're still around in some places--maybe gas stations? (but not at the gas stations we fill up at).

I followed this guide but using a cheaper un-notched decoder. It did not work. However, I suspected that the notch is supposed to lift the bar up. So, I tried subtracting 1 off each digit. No luck. Then another 1, and hey presto! It opened. Thanks for the guidance - it got me there.
My local social housing association are still fitting these! I had one put on my house by them about a month or two back. I alerted their maintenance department to this video yesterday (Wednesday May 31st 2023) showing how easy they are to pick, and the lack of security these keysafes provide, and they're passing my comments onto their trade supervisor. Hopefully they'll choose something more secure to install!
This is going to sound really random but thank you for taking a deep breath in at the start of every video. I jus came from a Zoom uni class where the prof's mic was really quiet, and I forgot I had my sound turned up to 50%. That deep breath being so loud gave me a split second to lower my volume so I didn't go deaf. Just to emphasize the difference, lowering my volume to 2% is loud enough to hear you clearly.
I love the way that LPL pronounces Norwich, "Nōr" "Witch" it's pronounced, 2 syllables "NORR" + "itch" and the "NORR" is best said in a pirates voice! 👍🇬🇧😂🤣😂
In all of the US versions of those towns, it is pronounced nor-witch. Like in Massachusetts and Connecticut. But small hills may be easier to defend than big ones...
I like how the lock set itself to the right combination at the end (it was off by 1 at first). It alreay knew it had no chance against LPL so why even bother...
He has just "Diss"ed a lock sent from Norwich in March. (East Anglia location name joke..was trying to see if I could get any others into that but struggled..feels like InGatestone would work in some relevant sentence but I couldn't crowbar that one in.)
The point is he identifies the picks as being available in his store then get on with the rest of the video. The promotion isn't obnoxious and doesn't drag on until you are biting your fingernails in frustration.
one of his more recent videos he's responded to a comment saying that it hasn't arrived yet, I'm assuming the guy making the lock is working on it to make it better before sending it to lpl
Even easier way we had some turd break into ours. Smacked the top with a hammer pry or screwdriver in the gap around the door. Springs that hold the latch are not strong enough to hold latch in place! Lesson learned the hard way!
LPL you should consider testing the Litelok Core motorcycle lock! As I understand, it is a brand new motorcycle lock from the company and is being heavily promoted through sites all over the world. That certainly takes investigation!
You may notice that sometimes he picks a lock without even removing it from the original packaging. This almost always allows him to return the lock for a full refund should he wish to do so. Many locks can be returned even after being opened by telling the seller the lock was unsatisfactory, although after a few repeated returns, the seller may just refuse to sell locks to LPL.
I opened it by just putting it up to my ear and listening for clicks and feel as well, they tend to be a little lose when it hits the right number as well
Its absurd how many businesses are willing to sell out their reputations. I've seen it in almost every industry I can think of. A well earnt reputation decades to centuries in the making destroyed by selling the rights to their name on total trash. Often there is a temporary bump in share price before it collapses, and often this ties in with a group of key execs retiring and selling their interest in the company. Of course regularly this is not the case, and for whatever reason a good company with a future decides to suicide its reputation with seemingly little logic behind it. If Squire intends to keep their reputation, they would do well to sell such trash under a different brand name (or preferably not sell it at all).
Fun fact: If you order anything from Covert Instruments, you'll find that the return address for the package you receive will have a return address for a PO box in Spotsylvania, Virginia, USA. This is because LPL lives in a courthouse; in fact, it's the same courthouse where he was born.
Its funny as my Reliant Robin has car door locks made by Squire and surprisingly my ones are difficult to pick but comparable era Squires could be opened with a spam key or broken off bit of windscreen wiper. I had the local lock chappy overhaul the locks (J Reynolds of Gillingham did a smashing job) and even done me a set of new not worn keys, sadly the boot is a Rover Metro key and the ignition the easily broken off Lucas ignition set but at least I know spam key or wiper bit toting ne'er do wells won't be making off with me Reliant :D In the eighties, it was common for people having missed the last train would find an old Mini or Ford Escort, nip off the windscreen wiper for the necessary bit and jiggle their way to a free ride home leaving the ahem "joyridden" vehicle in an easy to find place once wiping off any fingerprints.
Maybe it is time to up the ante! Can LPL also decode this if it is facing away from him. At least the videos will probably be a bit longer than the blink of an eye..
We appreciate the comments made by LPL and always take them on board, we will investigate them thoroughly.

He picks these kind of locks faster than I can enter the combination...
That's practice for you. I imagine he's done this hundreds of times... if not thousands.
Yeah he seems to have been doing this for more than 5 years now
He picks them faster than I can remember the combination.
“Than” my friend, “than” not “then”

I like the not so subtle “hey, stop making garbage yah nib nobs!”
But quite diplomatic.

A squire is a knight's small companion, so it only makes sense that a lock bearing its name should be opened by a small covert companion.
Yes, indeed.
That's... really clever! :-D
I love how he's always quick and to the point. No long drawn out explanations.
He's concise and unambiguous. Seems almost lawyer-like or something.

When the pick is so quick you get here and people have already seen the video and given their opinion before you can watch it all
How many hours of life have I spent watching LPL scrambling the combination? 😂
More than you've spent watching him decode them, as one data point.
Probably around 2 minutes because he doesn't take that much
Usually takes longer scrambling the combination than watching him decode it takes. That's pretty bad.
@@iamsirpablo 2 minutes x 100 videos like this one would be 200 minutes/over 3 hours.
