I have no left leg and for some reason I have never been able to master this type of crutch. I stick with the underarm design and have taught myself to frequently use one which allows me a free hand.
For me, it's less weight, easier to pack around, and easier to use in uneven terrain. I can navigate steep or sloping terrain much easier with a forearm style crutch.
Greetings also from BC! Thank you so much for this video! I had been wondering about these versus regular crutches and what to do if one has a broken ankle etc... most of the other videos for these seem more for people with balance or arthritis type issues. Out of curiosity, should one be using more muscle strength through the arm/forearm to support the body, or relying on the weight being carried more by the shoulders thru to the wrist? Or both? I'm thinking if one is doing it incorrectly it could create shoulder problems (?)
I think most is forearm strength, but that develops quite quickly. Also, with the ergonomic hand grips, your wrists stay straighter so they are well protected. I've used these a ton and have been tired, but never sore afterwards. Hope you heal up quickly. 😊
You're really good on your crutches.
Watching this makes me have hope I can get to the shop tomorrow.. I just have a broken ankle.. god bless bless this guy for this video
Elegant crutching. You are so brave!

What are the advantages of such crutches over traditional ones? Less weight?
