    It's amazing to think how we have this big country, and every state has to follow federal law but can also make their own laws. I'm glad to see in 2019 we still have some of those states that don't make life too terribly difficult for their constituents.

    Good job explaining yalls laws to folks who are planning a trip to your area. I dont know if its laziness or just folks not understanding the laws but I see folks not paying rhe fees thats required around here, one ticket will pay for all the fees for 10 years haha. Stay safe

      You are right. That money helps to keep the areas open. I think a lot of people don't care because they only plan the ride until it's repossessed.

    Hey AZ, good to see ya again. I will be visiting in the Parker area this winter with my SxS. I have ohv from California will I need to do a temporary permit when visiting

    • @azdesertdog
      @azdesertdog  3 роки тому

      Hi Bell. You will need a visitor permit for your OHV. You can get that through AZ Game and Fish Department. If your camper or tow vehicle is on State Trust Land you will need a State Trust Land Permit for $25 and that will cover all the RVs, truck and other vehicles in your family. Good luck and have fun!

    Great info. I will finish reading the comments and probably learn more. I'm still a little confused about driving my SXS KRX 1000 on the street though. I plan to visit AZ next winter for several months. I'm from Florida and we can't drive UTV's on the street where I live. I understand the AZ sticker for offroad and I will get that. My KRX already has the street legal package on it and I have the title for it. I see youtube videos of people driving their UTV's on the street in Quartzsite so are they residents of AZ?

    • @azdesertdog
      @azdesertdog  2 роки тому +1

      You can ride a UTV on the street in AZ. You will need a registration and insurance in your state or in Arizona to ride on the road here.

    I have a scenario question. I buy a UTV out of state and pay no sales and no additional fees. As and Arizona resident go to a third party DMV place and register my UTV with a street legal license place and OHV decal. Will they attempt to collect sales tax at this point? Or will it just be an OHV registration fee? Thank you

    • @azdesertdog
      @azdesertdog  3 роки тому +1

      I am no tax or legal expert. From personal experience a private sale in state out out is zero tax. A retail/dealership sale in state or out they will collect the tax at the point of registration. It's been a couple years though.

    do you have any experience with the WR450f on highways? I'm looking for a commuter and i have about 5 miles on a highway, with the rest on backroads.

    • @azdesertdog
      @azdesertdog  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching. I have ridden the WR on highways. Not commuting. It can handle 60-65MPH. I wouldn't do it for long stints like 50 or 100 miles. Sounds like your commute would work. I would be concerned about doing it for years. Keep up with oil changes and valve checks. If the valves take a major change tight or loose maybe think about a dedicated dual sport.

    Hey man, i live in Chandler and i’m building an off road buggy from scratch. The dmv told me they would assign me a vin when i finish it and work on issuing the plates, now my doubt is, can i use it to say just drive around the city when all this is set up? Or will i get pulled over and get into trouble assuming the vehicle complies with all the safety requirements. I would also drive it on that road that goes to Maricopa city down south. Thanks!

    • @azdesertdog
      @azdesertdog  3 роки тому

      I don't know much about buggies. I would assume they are just like ATV's and UTV's. If they meet the minimum safety requirements they can be registered for the road. When you go for your plates the DOT will tell you. Where they get people is tires. If you don't have DOT "for highway use" tires someone pulling you over may say it is not safe. Good luck.

      Not sure. That would be a good question for ADOT. I think there is a FAQ section on there website servicearizona dot com

    • @zonacrs
      @zonacrs Рік тому

      Probably not if California does not allow street legal registration of UTV's. If it does, and you are registered/insured in California, all you would need is an Arizona OHV sticker combined with your state of residence street legal registration and insurance. 99% sure California does not allow street legal registrations of OHV/UTV's.
      You would have to have an Arizona title to register it in Arizona. Doable if you have Arizona friends willing to loan their address and commit fraud. Huge liabilities in both directions.
      Not sure if you can register a vehicle, or obtain title with a P.O. box or UPS box address as your address of record or not, but might be worth looking into.
      Probably not worth the effort until Cali allows for OHV street registration for a couple of trips a year. Best option is to plan trips where you don't have to drive your side by side on roads that require street legal registration.

      On the Arizona web site there is a Non-Resident decal that is separate from the resident plate sticker. There is no language the exempts non-residents from having a plate. If you want to verify what is required the program managers name is Mickey Rogers 602-542-6942 or mrogers@azstateparks.gov

      Put Nut in AZ the statute reads ALL vehicles must display a license plate. This includes off road vehicles. If you are only ride the desert then you would get an RV plate an OHV sticker. If you want to ride the road to get to you favorite area you would get a MC plate with a registration tab and your OHV sticker. All off road vehicles must be under 1800 lbs to b able to get the On/Off road registration which is $13.50. Over 1800 lbs must pay full registration tax $55.50 to $500.00. Hope this info helps.
