My husband & I got married when we were babies, married for 16 years, were in our late 30s now. We have never owned a pet together. This Fall we started looking for what kind of dog would fit our lifestyle. We wanted a laid back low energy low maintenance loyal loving forever friend.we found a 5 year old German Shepard rescue in TX named Kara. She had been with her foster family since June 2020. She arrived to them a week away from giving birth to 8 pups. They said she was a great mama & loved her pups, her human kids, & all kinds of animals. As soon as we saw her picture & got to know her I was sold! We adopted her in December last year & she’s the light of our lives! She’s such a good girl! She loves all living beings & truly just wants to go to the park, beach, for an evening walk with us & she is such a loyal good girl. The only thing about her that we’re working on is her fussy eating & checking in on us at night. We couldn’t ask for a better forever friend & family member. I agree, researching the breed you want (if looking for a specific one) is incredibly important. Penelope, and most GSPs, are wild and need daily exercise which are all things we knew we were signing up for. And things we wanted! So happy to hear that you guys found the perfect dog for you! Kara sounds so sweet and chill. ❤️ She could probably teach Penelope a thing or two. 😂
GSP's are awesome, your dog reminds me of the one I grew up with. I never seen her tired she could pull off a 15-20 mile run in deep snow chasing us on snowmobiles. She climbed ladders, caught fish, played frisbee, and was a hunting machine. I back packpacked with her year round, she hunted all night and came in at 4:00am and slept on my sleeping bag. She lived to 14 years old and still hunted hard until the end. I now have a 21 month old male, he has brought back the good times. Full of life, and great times. Loved your post, keep posting, It made me smile knowing other GSP owners are out there living large!
Chasing you on snowmobiles!? That’s wild! I could see Penelope loving the chase but she would hate getting cold hahaha. It sounds like you’re giving your GSPs the life they thrive in best - one filled with all kinds of adventure! So awesome to hear!
Cool video. Penelope is very fortunate to have both of you in her life. Our four legged friends give us so much and only need us to spend time with them and love in return. We always find a way to take our four legged friend with us on outings and vacations. Sorry to hear about the loss of your furry friend Murray. Was he a close family member. It's always difficult parting with them.
We don't know what we would do without her in our lives! She's the one who forces us outside every day and we always thank her for it. Yes, Murray was a close doggy family member. It was very sad to hear about his passing.
She was that cutest and wildest puppy ever! 😅 She would wake us up at 6am to play fetch for 10 minutes then would crawl back into our arms for a morning snooze. ❤️
