the thing is that most of the time the main title tracks will be the intense ones with hard choreo, but there is always at least one softer song on each album

I think you’re doing great the way you’re doing! There’s no “right” way to go through the BTS journey. It’s different for everyone. I actually like when reactors do their own thing and get into it organically based on what piques their curiosity. I’m really enjoying your journey so far! I will say that in general, most of their title tracks (main singles, which usually have music videos) are higher energy/more “hype” to try to get listeners’ attention. There are of course exceptions to that! But if it’s not your vibe do check out some of the other tracks (B-sides) on their older albums. They don’t all have MVs but you could look for a lyric vid or live performance. Some suggestions would be Like, Just One Day, Coffee, and Tomorrow. When you get into Dark and Wild era there are some you might really enjoy, too (Rain, Let Me Know, Embarrassed aka Blanket Kick).

There are soft songs on each album. As you’re going by title tracks, they’ll be less likely to pop up as they tend to be tracks without MV’s. But stick with it! They’ll come!
Ya gotta remember that back then they wanted to make an impression. They wanted to stand out. So the slower stuff existed but the hype songs are what grabbed the initial attention. 😄

If you go by title tracks or just music videos the next video is what your talking about BUT every album has a song like that on it. They have well over 300 songs and they aren't going to make videos for all of them but they have an amazing array of diverse tracks throughout their career. 💜

Fun! Their early days are young and hype. They evolve and mature into the chill vibes. You are getting there. I see "Just One Day" is next I think so def one of those. "Save Me" is good too. Plus it is a one-take shot outside which is cool to watch. But again, just watching mv's is just a tiny sliver of their content or versatility. Can't go wrong with any of them unless you don't do subs. Enjoying your journey though.
I love these guys so much! They have been strong as they faced adversity. They have also adapted their approach to their music. I respect them so much. They were criticized on this song for being it seemingly misogynistic, and they were highly receptive and put in place ways to make sure they continue to love and respect everyone.

Be sure to watch BTS's performance at MMA 2019 (Full Live Performance). This is, in my opinion, their best performance at the awards. They performed this song there. And she looks completely different there with the choreography. Well, the guys there are already older.
And also listen and watch songs like: Butterfly and Spring Day. These are their slow compositions from an earlier period. They are very beautiful.💜

If I'm not mistaken, you haven't discovered BTS's dance practices yet. They have a lot of them, not only for songs that have mvs, but also for songs that don't have mvs.
One song from the previous album, Attack on Bangtan, has a dance practice. From that album, you'd probably also like Coffee and We On. Neither seem to have mvs or dance practices. The "Enjoy BTS More" channel has a live performance of We On, but nothing for Coffee, so you may have to listen to an audio clip.
From the album you are currently on, check out Just One Day (mv), Jump (live), and Spine Breaker (live).
Coffee, We On, and Just One Day are probably close to the vibe you are looking for currently. Attack on Bangtan, Jump, and Spine Breaker are more upbeat, but I think you'd enjoy them.

Lat comment. I noticed you asked how much freedom BTS were given in their earlier songs. Bangtan PD wanted them to write about their own life experiences so it shows as they grow up what they were thinking. In the beginning mostly RM and then Suga including other wrote the lyrics, Suga and other would produce the music, they would bring songs to Bang PD and he would either approve them, decline them, or make a suggestion on fixing something that worked for the members personally. Also, in this song Jin really was uncomfortable pushing the girl and pulling her so he apologized every take to her. There will be another song where antis claim they were misogynistic and I don’t see it at all! Many don’t. I will wait to see if you react to it. Ty. Good Morning, Mr. Chris Tucker. I'm so glad you enjoyed this bop. However, this song and "War of Hormones" got them into "big trouble."" The lyrics "I'm going to jump on you" among others were not taken well. And Jin "man handling" that girl was a big No No. I can tell you this.... "Throwing a woman around" never happened again in any of their videos. Jin actually apologized to that girl on set. He didn't want to do that. "War of Hormones" got an even worse review. RM apologized to all of Army and South Korea. He began by consulting Women's studies programs to make sure his lyrics weren't offensive. Eventually, all was forgiven. Mainly because they never performed those songs again! They learned from their mistakes. And for sure...no guys peeing in a urinal were ever filmed again!!! I saw your face. We all had that reaction. Somewhere there is an official list with all the songs listed in the release order. And you are correct. If you don't watch them in a particular order, some may be bothered and let you know. However, I'll say it over and over...there is no right or wrong way to watch these. In fact, I suggest as you are starting from the beginning, you might consider continuing your journey of their solo work. Watch from the beginning and "the end"...their solo work. It's so very good. Plus, you can stay current on new releases. The boys promised us they would continue to provide new content for us as they serve in the military. They promised us they had surprises of new work that they were going to drop on us. For example, JHope dropped his second album, "Hope on the Street" recently. "Neuron", one of his songs made the top of the list of the highest digital sales beating out Taylor Swift and Beyonce. And he dropped his new documentary "Hope on the Street" where he explores his dance career. And he visits famous cities and dances with the famous street dancers from that city. It's excellent! I've watched all 6 episodes of Season 1. Which means there will be a Season 2. That's how JHope started out as a street dancer. His dance group called "Neuron"...Thus, the name of his new song and MV. Again, I really want you to watch Jungkook's " Hate You." The official Visualizer. Anyway, it's an idea from IdeaGirl. Enjoy. I really like chocolate chip cookies with nuts. Pecans or walnuts or both. If you add in other ingredients, you have what's called a Cowboy Cookie in Texas. I’m a late comer to being a bts fan and was definitely taken aback the first time I saw this video BUT learning how they (especially RM) reacted to criticism gave me so much respect for them. I think war of hormone is an adorable song and the reaction to that one was overblown and a product of trying to pull American slang definitions out of translated text. After diving into bts history, I really enjoy them both. They’re catchy songs and they’re a snapshot in time of people who are growing. We were all cringey in high school. We didn’t all end up creating art that the entire world would pick apart when we were learning how to approach our first crush. Plus I absolutely adore the behind the scenes video where Jin bows and apologizes after the locker scene. That man is a gem.

So it's partly a cultural thing. But I myself felt uneasy. And, today you can NOT put your hands on a girl like that. Especially at school. You will be suspended. Yeah, they started off with this type of format for several of their songs, at least the ones that have MV’s but there are many songs they do that have that more mellow vibe as well, they just don’t have MV’s as you can see by the comments. Definitely Just one day is going to be your vibe!

When I first started watching Korean dramas back in 2012/2013, guys grabbing girls roughly by the wrist was still a HUGE trope and supposed to show 'passion' and thus be romantic. But now that has fallen by the wayside. Back when this video was made, though, this would have been peak high school romance behavior (at least fictional-- probably not in real life!)

I was honestly just trying to think of their older stuff that I thought was awesome and didn't think about what you liked but the softer stuff um, Just one day ia definitely more your kind of thing it's a softer romantic love type song. Read the book Beyond the Story for the full gen on their musical journey. It’s really interesting. Published last year but on offer now. It will guide your journey. I loved War of Hormone but can see why it was controversial at the time.

They "did their first one" before this song and album came out.
Their very first album, 2 Cool 4 Skool, in 2013, a year before this song, had the song "Like" on it, which is the vibe you are talking about. They have been diverse from the beginning. By only reacting to MVs you miss the B Sides and it gives you a skewed impression of their overall sound and style.
If you really "gotta hear them all" then you need to listen to whole albums. Albums only have 1-3 singles that get MVs. The other songs, the B Sides, can be found as Lyric videos or live performances. Their musical diversity has always been wide, and just grown wider over the years. BTS also only does concept albums, both as a group and as soliists. Their music and their albums are storytelling and tracks are in a storytelling order. You miss all that when you popcorn around and only watch the releases with MVs.

This song and War of Hormone got them into trouble. Being teenage boys, they didn't realize how misogynistic their lyrics were and how insulting they were. When they started getting negative feedback, RM consulted with some female professors of Women's Studies. Upon hearing the lyrics from another perspective, BTS decided not to perform those songs again. The MVs were already in the cyberverse , so we could see them, but they stopped performing them.

The 1st gives insight to each of the members, the next covers only the hardships and all they endured up to a point, and the last covers the progression of changes with some hardships and how the group endured to become who they are now. I hope you react to 1 or more bc that will help you understand them, their style of individual music, how they worked as a group to last as BTS! I ask bc I know you like V style and V styles really changes over time,as well as JK who rapped more in early days. This song got them into trouble. When BTS debuted the maknae line Jungkook, Jimin and V were still in school. BTS songs write about those stages of life members of the group were going through. Jk went through puberty in BTS. This song talks about the confusion caused by hormones raging honestly. However there was a backlash saying some of it was misogynistic. The company and BTS apologised and RM started studying, and talking to college lecturers on feminism. Personally I like the song. Feelings are feelings and portraying them leads to greater understanding between the sexes.
It was just the antis and industry attacking them as always .
