I love cooking, but never really knew what to do with these random leftover veggies. Bits of bell pepper, an onion, a handful of mushrooms... they never seemed to fit any recipe and I didn't know what to do with them. This is a game changer. I love it! 😍
When I have leftover peppers and onion, my go to is a vegetable sauce- you cook vegetables on the pan (bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, zucchini, eggplant, whatever you have, even carrots) ass spices, then add canned tomatoes and cook in the tomatoes for 10 more minutes. And you end up with 2 or 3 portions of sauce. Perfect for rice or pasta. You can add canned beans or lentils too.
I’ve worked as a chef in many restaurants. I love this channel because it shows people cooking “good food” is actually very simple. This man is doing Gods work
7:45 THE GUY IN THE BACKGROUND LOL!! Also cannot believe how underrated this guy is- he literally teaches you how to eat healthy, cheaply, and make your food taste good.
As someone who learned this at the age of 12, the video's really good. Although I never bothered experimenting with ingredients, my base is beef/mutton, potatoes, carrots and aromatics. Steamed noodles can replace the rice for a nice Mongolian stir-fried noodles.
@@myswrath6054Shrimp is a little expensive in Mongolia, where I live, since it's imported from far away. I imagine it's good though. Never had it. A thing I've tried is bell peppers. They work pretty well, ngl. Another one is cabbage and beetroot. Or lettuce? Idfk.

I am a housewife and i am cooking from last 25 years i can cook many difficult and different dishes but today i realise i should learn some dishes from you thank you 🙂
Mate, you forgot one of the most important bits for stir frying: add ingredients depending on how much cooking time they need. For example, carrots should go in before bell pepper as bell pepper needs less cooking time. Of course that's not a hard need but another small step to upgrade your stir-fry game.
also you should not put the garlick first as it will burn and you should stir fry the chicken alone, then take it out and do veggies then chicken in again to not overcook the chicken. For me the order is: chicken first until 80% cooked, chicken out. Garlick, green onion and ginger in to infuse oil, then veggies that cook slow like carrot and onion, then veggies that cook fast like bell pepper, chicken in again, soy souce, final touches like topings and aromatic oils (green part of green onion and sesame oil for example) and its done!
@@EFU127 Then what exactly is he offering as a channel if you have to "fresstyle" in order to get it right? Theres certain steps that need to be taken and instead he's just passing off this lazy video as advice.
Good question. You need to give the electric stove a few minutes to get really hot, then place your pan/wok on the element to start cooking. Gas is best because it heats up your pan so quickly to a high temperature
In german. we would call this "Reis mit Scheiß", which means "rice and shit" and it is basically, just throwing any ingredients, that are still laying aroung in your kithen ad fry them up and eat it with rice (or noodles or whatever else can stuff that stomach hole)
Hi! I just wanna say I’m a huge fan of your passion for cooking and your humor. Today my boyfriend surprised me with your cookbook and i was ecstatic to say the least. I cant wait to try allll the recipes!! Love from the Caribbean 🙏❤
Stir fry and fried rice are my go-to easy “leftover” meals! I try to keep kimchi on hand for whatever sounds good at the time. So filling, and it can be way healthier than takeout if you do it right!
Tip: While you don't want to use oil for cooking mushrooms, adding water or anything on a water basis can do wonders for cooking them. I often use a dealcoholized red wine, but a regular red wine should probably work just as well. But honestly, even just using water can make so much of a difference compared to just dry-frying them. It's probably also better for the pan.
another easy dish for students are stews, put everything in a pot: veggies of your choice, spices, garlic, ginger, onions, seasoning, meat of your choice and put into an instant pot or slow cooker, or regular pot bring to a boil then simmer for one hour.
A year ago, my cousin got food poisoning. His doctor told him that eating onion that has been cut an hour or two ago should be avoided as this is a major cause of food poisoning, so now even I avoid eating leftover onions and would suggest you all to avoid it too. Just throw it away, medication will be more expensive than half or a quarter onion.
Yesss !! I’ve been saying this since I was a student , stir fry is one of the best most versatile quick and healthy meals. Alongside pasta salad or wraps
If you are working with ingredients with drastically different cooking time, blanch them first to equalize the cooking time. If you are using authentic Chinese recipes, cut the seasoning by half, that's because Chinese dishes are never meant to be eaten alone, like western takeouts, they are over seasoned to compliment the blandness of rice and noodles.
2:28 you add the oil and it produces a smoke or vapour: either it's a virgin oil (not good for this stuff in my opinion) and that's the water evaporating, or it's a refined oil, in which case it reached the smoke point, and that's bad for taste and health.
no joke, the italian inspired pasta stir fry is the kind of food that is served in the "western" section of my cafeteria back when i was in china. its pretty dang good!
You can actually steam properly using a good wok pan. 1. the sides should be hammered, or grooved, so food will cling to it; 2. move the food up to the sides, add a bit of water at the bottom; 3. close off with lid.
If you have some extra time, you can boil some water in a kettle, put the water in a bowl along with any vegetables, and microwave for 2 minutes, then strain and then stir fry.
When you teach the wok flip you should teach it to flip with your non-dominant hand so when you’re flipping🤪 …you could still use the spatula with your dominant hand to assist the stirring and mixing
Some replacements for soy sauce for people like me who can't eat it! + tarmarind sauce (bit sweet, but still pretty good! just don't overdo it!) + fish sauce (bit more liquid-y, and I believe it does have some trace amounts of soy in it, but it's still really good!) + Bouillon (I use veggie, but it's so, so, so, SO good. Highly reccommed) + Stocks (don't overdo it, but a bit of beef, chicken, veggie, or any other is really good! vary it up based on the meal!)
thank you man, you taught me to overcome my fears of cooking and follow my instincts. I made my first stir fry and steak today and they were delicious ❤
yes but consider cooking first and setting aside. it doesn’t cook long so doesn’t go in first but you don’t want the eggs to just coat everything if you add at the end
Dude, order of events is: oil, chicken, carrot, onion, mushies, then softer veggies like peppers, then garlic. Garlic will burn in 30 seconds if it goes in early on. Otherwise, a really great and creative yet practical clip! Thanks
everything I make are just stir fries tbh lol, I'll just change the ingredients, sometimes I'll add eggs, sometimes chicken, spinach, bok choi and the like. Then I'll just add sauce and find what works
This is actually chop suey, aka throwing random leftovers in the restaurant into a wok and stir frying, using some sauce as a mix. It was popular in the US in the early 1900s as haute cuisine and became a sort of working man's dish over the decades.
Stir fry is such a great way to make use of whatever ingredients. And don't just keep yourself to Asian dishes...like the Italian example, you can make any dish from it. Technically Fajitas are stir fry! I like making Mexican inspired stir fries.
As and indian teen who knows this but instead replaces soy sauce with the combination of the 18 spices i got and who uses cottage cheese(paneer) instead of chicken i can confirm this is weight loss friendly(without the sauces and rice) as long as it is your whole meal. You can serve the whole pan and i guarantee it won't have over 400kcal because you don't have to use all the cottage cheese and also put low amount of oil
stir frying any thing in general really just changes the way the food tastes and feels. pls learn it if u can it becos it is so easy and makes a big difference to saving money for your lunches and meals etc

Tbh when I'm lazy I put everything in an omelette, really fast and goes with everything (pasta, rice, potatoes, whatever carbs you want)

Try to add the soy sauce to the side of the pan directly! It allows for a slight caramelisation and even better taste
adds great flavor👍
This got me through my first time cooking and making a pretty decent stir-fry! Thank you sm!!
i was getting ZERO motivation to cook and you gave me lots of ideas, so thank you!!
Maybe a stupid question but we have electric stove with like the glass ceramic top. Does it work the same? Like do high heat setting and toss?
