Father Mike im 75 yrs old and went to Catholic school and had had Cathechism class but never learned so much about God, the bible etc till i started listening to you. This is not like a class i had to attend, this is what i look forward to everyday because i didnt know that I didn’t know much about our faith in God till you came along and made this a part of my day i look so forward to. It’s a great learning experience and a joy to have YOU as my teacher. I love how you put your all into this so that i can easily see now what life with God is truly about. Thank you for all you do for us. So happy i found you! I pray for you everyday and thank God i found a priest that i love listening to. See you tomorrow 🙏❤️🙏
I am 69. Oh how I wish I had known years ago that the Catechism helped us understand the bible. Thank you father Mike. God bless you. It is so illuminating.
I believe that I was waiting in the dark before I started Catechism & bile in a year. I find every episode that my heart is open and learning so much. I get just as excited as you Father Mike. Your excitement is contagious and I am loving. I found last year that it was a bit over my head but this second time around I am learning so much. especially about sin. Thank you for helping get out of the darkness and into the light of God's Word. I am so grateful to be here and I am so thankful that God sent you, Father Mike to help us and spread your joy to each and everyone of us. God bless you abundantly Father Mike
Thank you so much Father Mike for these past 59 days. You have illuminated and broaden my heart so much, and I truly wish to share this wonderful gift you have given me with everyone on my path. I will be taking a breather right here. P. s I love these nugget dayyyyys!
For me as a cradle Catholic , I am so grateful for this opportunity to really dig deep into my faith. The past two months have been so good. Now when I recite the creed, I feel it from my heart . I find that I look forward to the next episode of the podcast with joy and gratitude. Thank you Fr Mike and Ascension team.
This is the second time around for me. It has become a habit but even more, I'm getting a lot more from all of this. I'm also going through the BIY again and the same thing there. I can't get enough of GOD and his word. And to have someone like Father Mike take the time to explain things is AWESOME and I am so very greatful. Thank you for making this available to everyone and thank you to UA-cam for allowing me to visit everyday.
This is the second time for me also for both CIY and BIY. As a non practicing Catholic who is nearing my 1 year anniversary of rediscovering my faith, Fr Mike has had a great influence on me. I have also found that I love the Holy Rosary of our Blessed Mother. She brings me great peace and relief from my anxiety.
After appreciating the Podcast Bible In A Year, in 2023; I accepted the challenge of the Podcast on the Catechism. As a cradle catholic, I am amazed at what little historical knowledge I had of the doctrines of the catholic church. Thank you for filling my 84 year old head, with inspirational knowledge that I can sneak in conversations with my five almost adult Grand boys. You and Jeff are a gift to this questioning world. I appreciate all that you say and do. God Bless
I am a cradle Catholic with 12 years of Catholic school. I was a lukewarm Catholic and the Holy Spirit has given me the desire to learn all I can about the Trinity. I am doing both the Bible and catechism podcasts at the same time and loving every minute. I am so thankful to technology and you Fr Mike. God is so good!!!
I am loving the journey. I have come to ove my Catholic faith more and more each day. Sure, some points challenge me, but I can read and re-read and reflect. I thank you for broadening my mind and helping me grasp my faith more completely.
I wanted to do this this year, but I didn't realise just how much I would enjoy it. Fr Mike 's enthusiasm helps immensely, and I am learning so much. Thanks and blessings.
I found out last week that my wife of 40 years has stage 4 cancer that has metastasized. At 62, we were just beginning our 4th quarter… my heart empties and breaks everyday and the catechism is the only thing filling it back up. Sometimes I lay and watch her sleep while I listen to Fr. Mike who fills me with understanding and hope. Thank you for this gift and I thank God everyday that he gives me with her. The doctors tell us maybe 6 months but they have no idea of the power of our God to heal. And if that doesn’t come we pray for the grace to accept his will because there is always a plan that I may not understand today but I trust, I believe and everyday brings me one day closer to my Lord…❤
I’m so sorry for what your family is going through 💔😢 God makes all things work together for good, for those that love Him who are called according to His purposes. Romans 8:28🙏❤️ I was a hospice nurse. If it’s available for you in the home I highly recommend it. Hospice can be very helpful in dealing with end of life issues & it doesn’t mean she’s about to pass away soon. If she has a 6 month prognosis then she’s eligible for hospice via most insurance & Medicare. I had patients on my service that lived another 2 years on hospice. Once they started receiving treatment it increased the quality of life for them & their family & actually extended their life. I will be praying for you & your wife & your family🙏❤️God bless you & bring you comfort & peace🙏❤️
A few years ago, I read The Catechism in its entirety with much difficulty and got very little out of it. Sitting here with my laptop, my Catechism, the pause button, a highlighter and a pencil I am absorbing so much more, which as a consequence is causing me to fall deeper in Love with the faith that I was born into. As we submit to the will of God, we pray that He puts us where He needs us in order to do His will. I believe He has done that for me, and I absolutely know that He has done that for you Father Schmitz.
Greetings, Fr. Mike. Thank you most for being a blessing to our Catholic Church and to me. It will soon be 66 years on April 21st. I was baptized and welcome in the arms of our family of God. It's just like that every day when you strive to be the best version of yourself in Jesus Christ. Remember Fr. Mike, you choose to teach us The Catechism In A Year. Why?why? why? Jesus, I Trust In You
This journey through the catechism is helping me and changing my way of seeing things and people and God. It is opening up the Mass for me and opening up scripture for me. It's really life changing. Thank you so so much, Father Mike! You have no idea the impact you are having by doing this!
Father Mike I am very excited about this Catechism in a year. I wait for it every evening. It is a bedtime story for me. Thank you for your teaching insights!! I pray for you daily!
You asked to let us know where we are in this journey so far….my heart and mind have been opened so much and my spirit has been rejoicing. I am a convert to Catholicism. I’ve done the Bible in a Year with you last year. This year, the Catechism is just amazing. So enriching. It explains so much that just gets glossed over (by necessity) in RCIA. I want to do this every year as a reminder, just like I’m doing the Bible podcast again as well. Just so enriching my faith. Thank you and thanks Ascension for the vision. Thank God for the inspiration. Amen
For several weeks, I felt I was in the dark, awaiting illumination. The catechism seemed formal and a little remote. I know I would not have persisted except for Fr. Mike’s podcast. More recently, the explanation of the Creed has been more accessible. I’m open to the leading of the Holy Spirit and grateful for the teaching. Thank you for doing this podcast. I would not have studied the catechism without it. God bless.
I read part of the catechism when it came out, but would probably never finish it without this podcast. Thank you Father Schmitz. It is a journey. Prayers for all of us to come closer and closer to Christ this Lent with joy! Prayers for Fr Schmitz too. God bless you Father!
These first two months have helped me realize how big God is and how much we are loved by our Creator. My belief in God a is bit clearer and deeper with each episode. And I am excited to share this knowledge as I grow in my love for our good God. So grateful to you, Fr. Mike and Ascension for producing this.
I am so grateful that you are taking me on this journey. You are providing me with a deeper understanding of my faith. I look forward to listening each day to your presentation. Thank you Fr. Mike.
This podcast had been a great journey and blessing thus far. Gain in knowledge and understanding, and increased awaking of the heart in the desire to be closer to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
I am 72 years old and really learning so much about the Catholic faith, I have a Catholic for 16 years now, I did attend RICA, this has helped me so much Fr. Mike. I pray for daily and the group. God bless you Fr. Mike. Also went through the Bible in a year with you and are reading it again with you. I love Jesus so much and want be a good disciple.
It's been very revealing, heart warming, somehow related to my every day situation. I feel so blessed to be part of the Church! Plus fr Mike's soothing voice helps to put my baby boy to sleep during feeding time 🥹
As a cradle Catholic and revert to the faith I feel like I have been living in a fog regarding my knowledge of what being Catholic means. I thank God for leading me to BIY last year and now CIY. This year I am listening to both and it is a wonderful blessing. Thank you Father Mike and Ascension for your ministry to us poor sinners. We are truly not alone. God has never abandoned us. WE are the ones who keep pushing him away. I'm praying for the faith of a small child running to her Father for love and reassurance. 🙏 please pray for me. I am praying for you.
You have my prayers, and I hope I have yours, too. Let us continue to pray for everyone on this journey, and for everyone else to humbly discover this journey. God bless you and bless you.
As an official cradle Catholic, my faith is as aged as the rest of me. I am being refreshed, renewed in what I believe. Reading the Bible with Fr Mike provided knowledge I lacked. This study of Catechism is a chance to understand my faith and my love of God and the Catholic Church more deeply and with the joy of refreshing renewal! Thanks to all, praying, praying!
Thank you , dearest God , for Fr. Mike. I am listening to the BIY and CIY daily. I have benefitted SO much from these podcasts. It has increased my trust in God . I have abandoned myself to His loving goodness and His Plan . I have found peace in leaving everything to Him and submitting to His Will. I am a Catholic from birth and apart from Mass and the Rosary , this is the best part of my day, Praying for you , Fr. Mike . and everyone who listens to these illuminating podcasts.
Oh Fr. Mike Schmitz thank you so much for recording this for us. I feel as if I am praying as I listen to you. The Holy Spirit is here with me...He is pleased too. This old lady is one of the many who asked you to record the Catechism, when listening to Bible in a Year. My Goodness God is teaching us through you and I love it. What a blessing you are!
Charlotte I was Protestant too, until I read the Catechism 13 years ago. After that I had to know more & more😄 Until 4 years later I became Catholic! Just sayin’…be prepared for God to take you on a wild journey 😅❤️ God bless you🙏❤️
As a catechist for 20 years now, this has been a very informative and fruitful journey. Informative in that I have learned so much more as the discussions paired with the readings opens up the true beauty of the Catechism. Fruitful in that my belief and faith has grown and I can use what I have learned here in my CCD class and leading my Bible Study group.
It's been a very illuminating first 59 days, especially with the Bible in a year and scripture as a foundation. Thank you for always reminding us to pray for each other and our community!
Father Mike has the voice of a priest - sincere, kind, heart-felt, gentle, mild, friendly, hopeful, uniting, inspiring, and drawing us back every day for more truth and love from God through the Catechism. May Jesus help us continue to grow. Prayers for you, dear Father Mike.
Fr. Mike asked how I feel about The Catechism in a Year. I thought the Catechism was a boring book of rules. It is actually beautiful and faith filled. I have been blessed from the first day. He keeps saying that it goes slow at first. I have found it riveting from the beginning. Thank you and may our Lord be with us.
I am surprised with myself that I look forward to these daily lessons. Some days I miss but find it easy to double up and catch up. Thank you so much Father Mike. You are a gift to us.
Fr Mike this has been such an enlightening process for me. I became a Catholic in 1983, prior to RCIA, and there is so much I just didn’t know! Thank you, and all of your team at Ascension for this amazing work. May God bless you mightily! Jane Dick (NZ)
I look forward to this every day, especially the excellent break down Father Mike give us of each day’s readings. Sixty days in and I am deepening my faith and understanding of our Amazing Lord and our Holy Church and seeing more layers to Gods brilliance I didn’t know existed. Thank you. I am praying for you!
Fr. Mike, when you go home to our Lord, one of the things that we will miss the most already is your iconic "I cannot wait to see you tomorrow" which is filled with much hope in such a hope-deprived world, for whenever I hear you say your signature phrase, it permits me to share in your hope, and beautifully enough, you will be echoing true hope perfected in Heaven to us afterwards!
Is been two months listening to the Catechism and is changing my life. Is hard to explain but lately I’m feeling full of joy and compassion for other even more. Even the way I live my life is like everything could fall apart and I won’t stress about it because I know my Lord Jesus Christ is there for me through everything. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for the Catechism for a Year, Father Mike.
These past weeks have been so much blessings as CIY has been giving me deeper understanding of God's love and friendship. So enriching experience. God bless you more abundantly, Fr. Mike and all who make this program happen.
FR. Mike you are leading me to the truth and understanding of the Catholic faith through the Catechism. You are an awesome teacher and that will bring me closer to God and as His servant, what God wants me to do and be for him and the Heavenly realm against the Satan and all of His demons. God bless you and most of all thank you. Art
This has been a beautiful journey with Father Schmitz as he can comments on our paragraph readings, bringing into clearer focus the beauty of our churches’ teachings. His humility and humor in everything keeps me smiling and waiting for more nuggets of the beauty of our beliefs as Catholics.
You expressed exactly how I feel! I have loved God since I was a little girl. This is a whole new level. And I really want everyone to know and love God.
I completed the bible in the year my heart was opened to the understanding of the relationship between God and humanity . Now, I am growing with Love and purpose of my life with God
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen
Every day I look forward to your Catechism in a Year podcast, Father Mike. It is especially meaningful to be part of a group of believers also on this journey through the Catechism. The Catechism in a Year brings thousands together to listen, learn, and love our faith all the more. What a blessing!
You asked how we felt about doing the Catechism in a year, so here is my comment. There were a few days where it felt a little too much like a classroom lesson but you told us to persist -that it was going to get better. Learning about the Angels and the evil one and the true meaning of original sin has been great! I am a Catechetical leader and everything I learn every day just helps me feel more prepared to pass on the faith to my young students. The CCC is referenced in so many of my Faith Formation materials. I now have a true idea of where to go and what to expect as an explanation. Thank you Father Mike!
I love these . Keep giving us all these sessions of what it means. I look forward to seeing these everyday more and more. My eyes and heart are more open. Doing a meditation today i felt God within my heart.beautiful golden light. It was so much light. God bless you Fr Mike
Cathesim in a year is awesome Fr.Mike, initially it was tough to motivate to press the play every day, now i'm fully into it, please pray for us, as we continue to pray for you Fr.Mike
I left a comment in the FB group I am in but want to put one here, too. I am so grateful I found this podcast at a time when I'm trying to lay the foundations of our Faith with my daughters (ages 3 & 2.) It's giving me a lot of hope and confidence, but also (and more importantly for me personally, I think) helping me heal from those aspects of my "battle" which have caused me particular distress--bereavements, miscarriages, abuse by a former employer, near-homelessness. The fact that I am now in a stable enough situation day to day where I can listen and devote time and attention here is nothing short of a miracle. Thank you!
I love Catechism in a Year!!! Would not be able to read it on my own (bcuz I'm lazy and takes a lot of effort!). Fr Mike is like crutches and helping me along FINALLY taking in the beauty and miraculous wonder of our rich Catholic faith! Thank you, thank you!!!!!!
I've had difficulty motivating myself to watch every day, but I've been watching almost every day. I don't have a lot of constructive habits, but this is one of them and I am very grateful for it. I might not like it all the time, but I'm here and hope I'll see it through, and hope I'll like it more.
It really has been a joy to watch back-to-back podcasts, Bible in a Year and Catechism in a year, each day. Thank you Father Mike. Praying for you and everyone who listen to the podcasts!
There’s so much stuff to meditate on, to take in. At times overwhelming trying to figure out the impact on my own life. That’s when I turn to God, to talk and to listen. I could not do this journey alone, thank you F. Schmitz for bringing this to us. I know that in the future it will be a book that I will reference over and over again. I was unable to do that before. May God bless and keep you safe and everyone else who is journeying. Amen.
I totally agree. Listening to the two podcasts on the same day has been a blessing for me and I’m sure to those around me- because as Fr Mike says, it allows us to know God better in order to love him better, and know that we are never abandoned by him. We are broken but good. God is love. 😊❤️🙏
I feel profound gratitude and a joy unspeakable..light is penetrating my darkness of discouragement with the Catholic faith...for years I have witness the coldness of fellow Catholics and thought And thought...you will know my disciples by the love they have for one another as John states bot all I see are perfunctory Judgemental cradle catholics....until now
I always thought the Catechism itself was a "mystery", and that there was no hope I would ever want to read it or understand it. Well, I'm reading it and I'm understanding it (mostly). It is not the hocus-pocus Catholic Latin mystery I thought it was. It is opening my eyes and growing my love for my Lord. I have been in Bible Study at my parish for 15 years. What a great complementary experience this is. Thank you and bless you, Fr. Mike
I always love to learn about our Lord, but it is hard for me when I read the Catechism because is hard to understand. Now I can learn more about it and understand it very well. Many thanks, Fr. Mike. Regards from Lima, Perú.
Some days my mind is blown, somdays I struggle. I dont get down on myself if I struggle. Its not supposed to be EZ. This really is a journey in community and that inspires me to listen every day. Prayers to all here and to Fr Mike and the crew producing these vids. God Bless!
Wow! I look be you father mike! It's so fulfilling. It's like someone is addicted to drugs. Not that I am. But that's how ifeel.i can't get enough of God .I love the father to death. God bless you and everyone Ron and Mary
I'm 80 years old and still learning about my Lord thanks to you Father Mike. Your enthusiasm and love for God is contagious. Thank you Lord for giving us Father Mike. What a great gift he is.
I follow daily the catechism in a y 14:5914:59 ear with father Mike I maybe lost somewhere in the narrative but the wisdom imparted by Father Mike walk me thru I understand more fully and I pick up spiritual enlightenment as I move along each day Thank you Ascension thank you fr Mike
Here's my experience of the catechism so far: I was a convert as a pre-teen, and hearing the catechism reminds me of when my parents were in RCIA, bringing home God's word to us after their own lessons. It makes me happy, and makes so many other things about our faith make sense and come into context. It makes me feel grateful for my parents and our original parish that embraced us and wanted so dearly to teach us. It makes me so grateful that I live in an age where this teaching is so abundantly available to me. It makes me feel safe and in awe of creation and the Creator. :)
Thank you Father Mike
Jesus is the healer of our Soul

As an official cradle Catholic, my faith is as aged as the rest of me. I am being refreshed, renewed in what I believe. Reading the Bible with Fr Mike provided knowledge I lacked. This study of Catechism is a chance to understand my faith and my love of God and the Catholic Church more deeply and with the joy of refreshing renewal! Thanks to all, praying, praying!
Amen

I'm in the same boat! I'm proud of you. God bless.
It has made me proud of the church and the richness of our beliefs. It has also been a journey about learning about the nature of God.
The love and joy already kicked in Fr. Mike. Keep going we are walking with you!
Second time round and it's so worthwhile. Thank you Fr Mike . Praying for you and everyone here. God bless 🙏🏻 ❤️ 🙏🏻
I'm Protestant and I look forward to the Catechism in a Year and Fr. Mike every day. It's such a blessing.
👍
Charlotte I was Protestant too, until I read the Catechism 13 years ago. After that I had to know more & more😄 Until 4 years later I became Catholic! Just sayin’…be prepared for God to take you on a wild journey 😅❤️
God bless you🙏❤️
As a catechist for 20 years now, this has been a very informative and fruitful journey.
It's been amazing to learn each day!
🙏🙏🙏Indeed, pray to keep the devil away. Avoiding the temptation.
Father Mike is the most joyful priest I have ever known in all of my adult life. God bless you Father. 🙏
@@mannafromheaven0228 Agreed! :)
New knowledge of God, new way to grow up in God🌷 thanks be to God for Fr. Mike and all the members of CIY family🙏
I am surprised with myself that I look forward to these daily lessons. Some days I miss but find it easy to double up and catch up. Thank you so much Father Mike. You are a gift to us.
This is really deepening my faith and understanding of the beauty of my Catholic faith. Thank you for doing the CIY podcasts.
Thank you, Fr. Mike for this CiAY...I couldn't do it on my own. Thank you and God bless you and everyone involved! ❤️🙏
Well said, and Amen.
Yes. I feel the same way! What a gift we have in Jesus!
@@ruthutter1968 Yes we do! Amen
Thank you ♥️
It's been like waking up to know God more and more. I love it and I want the whole world to know this. Am so thankful to God. Fr. Mike, THANK YOU.
You expressed exactly how I feel! I have loved God since I was a little girl. This is a whole new level. And I really want everyone to know and love God.
I completed the bible in the year my heart was opened to the understanding of the relationship between God and humanity .
Now, I am growing with Love and purpose of my life with God
I am learning and am amazed! 🙏🙏
Amen
Amen! 🙏
Amen!!! 🙏🏼🫶

Amen, Amen, Amen.
This is the version I grew up with in the mid 60s
My experience has being life altering. ❤ My am experiencing total transformation (in progress) thank you Father MiKe ❤
Love this podcast! God Bless all! ^_^🙏❤
It has been a gift. I hope those sharing in teaching in the Rites will share with those coming into inquiry.
I've had difficulty motivating myself to watch every day, but I've been watching almost every day. I don't have a lot of constructive habits, but this is one of them and I am very grateful for it. I might not like it all the time, but I'm here and hope I'll see it through, and hope I'll like it more.
Praise be to God ❣️
Thank you so much Fr. Mike and Ascension. My continued prayers for all, God Bless. 🙏🏻
This message is just spot on, explains so much. So many questions were answered . Thank you Fr. Mike. The joy is kicking in🙂
Greetings!
How has it been? Great! Exciting! Can't wait for more!
Learning each episode and loving it❤
It really has been a joy to watch back-to-back podcasts, Bible in a Year and Catechism in a year, each day. Thank you Father Mike. Praying for you and everyone who listen to the podcasts!
An eye opening journey
you are so right on thanks for your comment. Today with the nugget and explanation it really became real about death
Amen.
I agree, so blessed!
I totally agree. Listening to the two podcasts on the same day has been a blessing for me and I’m sure to those around me- because as Fr Mike says, it allows us to know God better in order to love him better, and know that we are never abandoned by him. We are broken but good. God is love. 😊❤️🙏
I feel profound gratitude and a joy unspeakable..light is penetrating my darkness of discouragement with the Catholic faith...for years I have witness the coldness of fellow Catholics and thought
And thought...you will know my disciples by the love they have for one another as John states bot all I see are perfunctory
Judgemental cradle catholics....until now
Learning so much! Thank you!
It's been remarkable. So I press play every day. 2/28/2023
Overwhelming awe & wonder of my God✝️
I'm 80 years old and still learning about my Lord thanks to you Father Mike. Your enthusiasm and love for God is contagious. Thank you Lord for giving us Father Mike. What a great gift he is.
I agree! Father Mike is a very special priest. My prayers are for him and all of us on this journey.
Day59. May God bless us all!
I follow daily the catechism in a y 14:59 14:59 ear with father Mike
I maybe lost somewhere in the narrative but the wisdom imparted by Father Mike walk me thru
I understand more fully
and I pick up spiritual enlightenment as I move along each day
Thank you Ascension thank you fr Mike
Here's my experience of the catechism so far: I was a convert as a pre-teen, and hearing the catechism reminds me of when my parents were in RCIA, bringing home God's word to us after their own lessons. It makes me happy, and makes so many other things about our faith make sense and come into context. It makes me feel grateful for my parents and our original parish that embraced us and wanted so dearly to teach us. It makes me so grateful that I live in an age where this teaching is so abundantly available to me. It makes me feel safe and in awe of creation and the Creator. :)
