@Katherine Sullivan thanks for the confirmation. One of my problems is that the colour gets very muddy when I mix the brown and the ultramarine. I have tried it two times so far, and the second time it came out better than the first. So, hopefully I will get it in time!
I tried this technique... with some control on the water spray it came out well... Thanks Mr Rossini.. it is very nice how you have created the lights on the medow... loved it
Umberto you are a great teacher! Thank you I keep on trying with my watercolors, but cannot do as great as you. I'll keep trying. Thank you for your video.
Thank you so much, I love you style of painting and will certainly paint this landscape. I have painted some of your landscapes and each time I learn so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I had no idea a sky like this was even possible with watercolor. It has to be one of the most captivating skies in this medium. Just a great tutorial all around. This is one I plan to try, maybe many times. So much to learn here!
I have tried a couple of his tutorials and they turned out so well. He is a great teacher and I enjoy the musical accompaniment. Thank you so much Umberto Rossini.
Excellent. You are missed when you are not broadcasting. You are one of the few qualified watercolours doing demonstrations on UA-cam that really get the instruction part across. Success to you always.
Your work is so alive, so exciting. Thank you sharing your imagination and genius. Anyone who can put this much of himself in a painting must be a fearless genius.
That sky is......WOW!! It's amazing how it looked like you just kinda dropped paint anywhere and everywhere and it ends up looking like that! Multiple layers and tones, I think that's the key. I'll be watching this multiple times and practicing as many times as neccessary to try and get that look thst you've achieved! The very simple form of the man walking the lane really helped me with that aspect of painting in this style of watercolor painting, in that it just needs to give the basic form and you don't need all the details. Thank you for sharing your talent!
You, sir, are a god. I attempted this and although it doesn't compare to yours, it still managed to look pretty decent. I love your work and your videos. I'm a beginner watercolorist and hope to get better over the years using your techniques.
Thank you Umberto. Umberto's watercolour demo's are so generous, he shares everything with us. With watercolour paper and a few resonable quality paints we can all copy this painting, if only to get started. Get the drawing right and follow every step. As or me I am very happy to watch him painting and listen to the lovely music. It's all very relaxing.
I very much appreciate how you approach your watercolors and your instruction. It is very helpful for me. Especially I want to say, I LOVE your treatment of the sky, it is very inspiring the contrast of light and the effect. A simple composition such as this one with it’s strong pure color and easy layering is just right for me when I am in a low place with my own work. Thanks Umberto
You are so talented! I am in awwwe! So thankful that you give us detailed information. The first, second ,third time watching I had chills, your talent is amazing! I cannot thank you enough and am so happy I came upon your videos. They are so peaceful! The first time I watched them I was bedridden due to severe pain and your work, watching you helped me take my mind off my pain. Thank you, thank you.
Thank you Umberto for this super dramatic sky . I tried it and it worked for me . I also love your choice of music , it went so well with this painting .
bonjout umberto, j adore vos peintures , elles sont superbeset tres realismes, je suis contente de vous decouvrir , vous avez du talent , mille bravooo!!!
wonderful demo with use of water spray technique and fundamentals of shadows well demonstrated. Thanks for your video. I am a beginner in water color and loved your tutorial.
You offer the student so much help! I appreciated the sketch, progressive color mix details, the explanations of stokes and rationale of water technique, and especially the close-ups at the end. A great lesson on a dramatic sky -- one on my wish list. Thanks, Umberto w/blessings. P.S. Red coat suited the blue-yellow-green drama perfectly!
Marvelous...….I have to admit, I am ........well....... I am a spy...…..I keep watching your videos over and over again and I enjoy every brush stroke you make. So relaxing so, peaceful, soooooo good. Love it. Never done watercolor before, mostly acrylic and that is why I've been spying on you for quiet some time......heheheheh......Love your work, mate.....love it. Keep doing an awesome job
Awesome, I just did it! Turned out great! When the ultramarine dries is when it really pulls out all the effects. Also I did tilt my paper a bit where gravity pulled the pigment to the right. Blotted around the bright part of the sky and for the first time in my life I have been able to paint a captivating sky. Great tutorial, I did have to stop the video and catch up a few times. Subscribed and I will be practicing some more of your tutorials. This was fun!
That's the basics, yes - but your slow-bleed of faded dark colour into the white paper has created the "glow behind the clouds" look too. It's a nice effect. I don't do watercolour, I paint with ink (I'd like to do watercolour but I am rubbish at deciding which colours to use and then mixing them) - I use that "bleed of ink with water" to create light through clouds and fur. To be honest - thank you! - your picture here and the other one "Tuscany" (with the red poppies bottom right) have inspired me to try watercolours.
Oh superbe démo j'adore !!! Je ne manquerais pas de vous citer si je m'inspire de vous pour un cours ;) Merci pour toutes vos explications et vos zooms, c'est très parlant :)
Ok, so noone is going to comment on how great the song choice for this video was? I am amazed. Really. And the painting + explenation = really good job, man :)
Hi Umberto. I have the highest respect for watercolor artists. I am an illustrator for children and I never ever made an illustration in watercolor. BUT this sky ...I am in love :) Maybe this presentation could change my life... Clouds are my biggest love and your sky came out like "dynamite". Thank you so very much and a big hello from Slovenia :) Josi
I tried this and for once my sky came out! Thank you :😀
Wow, that's wonderfull for me.
Thank you Katherine !
Weiss
It didn't work for me. It came out as a blotchy mess. Any tips? Do you think practicing this type of sky over and over will help?
TYANTOWERS. I do paint it over and over. Every time it gets better. The trick is to be patient and not over work or over think it :)
@Katherine Sullivan thanks for the confirmation. One of my problems is that the colour gets very muddy when I mix the brown and the ultramarine. I have tried it two times so far, and the second time it came out better than the first. So, hopefully I will get it in time!
Brilliant. I am an absolute beginner even though I'm 70 years old. I could watch this a 1000 times. Now I must try and paint it. Thank you Umberto.
Bernard Lillis how did your painting go?
Seeing this I am also tempted to attempt the dancing of the brushes loved to see
I love the way you captioned it instead of talking. I love the sky technique. I’m going to try it! Really appreciate your skill and making video!
This is the first time I see someone paint sky like this. Its beautiful. Next time I paint a sky I will try this technique
I tried this technique... with some control on the water spray it came out well... Thanks Mr Rossini.. it is very nice how you have created the lights on the medow... loved it
Very good landscape..... this will give someone new to watercolor, a gift of accomplishment!
Looks like a stormy sky!

What a beautiful sky!

thank you for this very encouraging feedback
enjoyed watching this come together! VERY inspiring! Thanks for sharing
This was so inspirational thank you I will be watching it over and over before I even think about trying it 😄
I must say - I am impressed with that sun-through-clouds look... you have managed to make it almost glow off the paper!
It's only a problem of contrast. More dark around, will give you high light for the paper
J’aime beaucoup l’orage dans le ciel et votre méthode de peindre.
J’ai beaucoup à apprendre. Je me sens encouragée. Merci bien
Miche D.
