When working on the SitarCraft album I actually struggled to find more game music that adapts well to classical Indian music and sitar! I was jamming around on sitar tuned to Db and I noticed that the patterns I learned work well for the Halo Theme since they all play over one particular chord, a characteristic of a lot of Sitar driven music! I realized we have a great opener here and started adding vocalizations, subtle guitar layers, and eventually a fantastic live percussion element from Rahul to tighten the track. I hope this song works well to introduce gamers or metalheads to Indian instruments and vice versa! Also I turn 30 today so thank you for watching me through all my twenties y'all!

We now have the answer to the question: "What if John-117 was taken from Mumbai, Earth rather than from Elysium City, Eridanus II, but still became the Master Chief?"
    Love the creativity and musicianship!

This is wildly underrated, fantastic arrangement. I'm always fascinated hearing other cultures musical influences being brought into other places.

Thanks for noticing! A few things definitely help, using split coil settings on any guitar, let alone the Ernie Ball helps get a bitey twangy sound that's not too far from a sitar! Running that into a compressor pedal and nice bright clean amp like a Fender Twin Reverb (all in my AxeFX) gets it mostly there! Then you just have to do a lot of bends and slides, things that a sitarist would do to get that style through!

I appreciate the descriptor! Part of my inspiration to do this project is to help show how other contexts work well for Indian music, not just cliche things like deserts and psychedelic scenes. Battle scenes sound sick though 🤘
