- The first in a new series of videos where I go over some of the techniques used to weather a car. This is a longer one as it was a pretty complex weathering job and I learned a lot along the way.
Looks good. One thing that you mentioned a few times but I'm not sure if even you noticed that you were doing it was the storytelling. Weathering is at it's very core storytelling and approaching it from this direction will improve your results.
Great job.
That is true! Every car should tell a story about where it has been, and should carry the "scars" of the job it is tasked to perform! Thanks for the comments.
What a big improvement in your weathering from your first car to the second! Well done and keep up the good work!
Thanks much!
Your weathering on the ex-Op&E car really came out well. It's looks completely authentic. Your technique with the isolated rust splotches is particularly realistic. And those added details - stirrups and brake hoses - really make the car pop! Thanks for sharing this video. Looking forward to your further efforts.
Thanks much!
"I'm not an expert Weather-er" he has showing everyone something he expertly weathered... In all seriousness, you did a great job and I'd say you earn the "Master Weatherer" scout badge now.
Thanks for the kind words
Never heard of your channel, this video just came up in my feed and kinda blew my mind. Not because of the quality of your work (which is top notch), but because I grew up in north Pend Oreille county and kind of assumed nobody else even knew it existed.
Keep up the great work, and for authenticity you should add a scale model of the Metaline Falls concrete silos!
Haha! Small world I guess! Thanks for the kind words.
I use to see these cars here on the CSX CE&D sub back in the 80’s. A few weeks ago I saw two of what looked like wood chip gons of that RR! Wish I could have gotten a photo of them.
Excellent job ..!
I appreciate it!
Spectacular job!
Thank you!
Nice job on the cars. I don't see any mistakes, they look believable. I have a City of Prineville car I need to weather. Thanks for sharing. I also saved a copy of the Ops Buddy spreadsheet that I am customizing for my railroad. It's been fun so far.
Awesome! Glad you are liking it.
You’re killing it man. Keep doing them.
Thanks so much!
That car looks awesome! In my experience the wash splattering could be due to too low of an air pressure or holding the airbrush too far away from the car. I have found it very hard to perfect a wash on a car. Keep up the great work!
I appreciate the thoughts. I'll try more pressure with the next car I weather and see how that works out.
Awesome. IMO, it's "Dan Quality." 😁
aww. I wouldn't go that far... 😃
