    Hey, I have a Vaughn wheeled bag! Are you saying I don't have wheels?! Ok, I don't... I've only been skating for a year. But at my age (50), I love the wheeled bags. 😆

  • @michaelcrowers6628
    @michaelcrowers6628 Рік тому +2

    Great video trav I have a question the players make fun of other players for having a wheel bag but they say it is OK for me to get a wheel bag because goalies are different. My bag is a Victoriaville from like 95 and has holes all through it. My gear is sick I am a flyers fan so my gear is orange white and black but my bag is the saddest thing that you have ever seen. My question is if I do get a new bag other goalies will look at me with a sideways look? I until today thought when I get a bag I am gonna get one with wheels but now I am worried that I may get called "wheels" by other goalies.

      @nator55 Рік тому +1

      I was in the same boat as you. I had a bag since peewee and it had so many holes in it I might as well have not zipped it up. I bought a huge CCM wheel bag that fits EVERYTHING. Including my pads. My point is, f*ck the haters. I don't have to kill my back carrying all my gear before a game and everything fits easily into the bag. The only opinion I care about is my own.

    • @trav4oilers
      @trav4oilers  Рік тому

      I think carrying your bag just looks more "professional" cause thats what the pros do. Ultimately up to you man :)

    Good tips, I agree with the skating part. Not always fun to practice over and over again but it pays off. I also use a dehumidifier while airing out my gear after each ice session, definitely helps with the smell ;)

    i always show up with a good attitude also got recognized at the end of the season for my positivity even when we were losing by like 8 goals i just dont find a reason to be negative cant do anything to change what happened before focus on the future and the next puck. Great video trav!

  • @nicksperdakes
    @nicksperdakes Рік тому +1

    Positivity is an easy thing to do that could make all the difference. You could be the greatest goalie in the world but if you’re a piece of shit teammate guys aren’t going to want you around. Some hacks i found that helped me as a guy that started playing nets late is learning how to communicate to your guys on the ice and how to play the puck. Stopping the puck should obviously be the main focus but if you can give the boys an idea of what’s going on around them it’s like they have eyes on the back of their head. If you’re able to wrangle dump ins and help out on the breakout that’s huge. Like having a third D on the ice at all times. The difference it makes to the players is staggering and they definitely notice and appreciate it.

    Trav, great video. Btw I have been using your buttendz technique and love it. One question I have is the goalie stick stencil (Bobs) you use. Where can I get ahold of a stencil like that to use to cut out in my stick?

    I was a goalie, my son is a goalie, and my grandson is a goalie. I really enjoy your videos. We're currently working on the grandson's attitude. Learning to immediately get over the goal scored and accepting the loses as they come. Because if you play, you will get scored on, and you will lose games. All the best, and keep the videos coming.

    not really a hack, but most of goaltending is being mentally sound and making sure you are focused and keeping yourself in the game mentally. I used to be really bad at getting angry if I wasn't getting any help during a game but then I realized my team probably doesn't appreciate my anger since they were trying there best. So I think a tip I have would be to keep yourself in it and belive in your team, goalies can't score all the time

    My tip: don’t train off ice as a goalie, train as an athlete. Workout full body, and don’t train silly exercises. Train basics that will make you stronger. Also stretch and do yoga. Flexibility will help you to make saves when out of position.
