I'm pretty sure than I gonna cry. I really saw a dying swan, and not a ballerina. Nina...was...perfect. Her arms...her legs...her pain and sadness expression! Bravo, Nina! Bravo!
Nina IS the Swan....and her spin, you could swear she is spinning on water. Mesmerizing~

You are correct-- NOT only that, 'Crazed fan I am,' I Saw her and she is as Gracious in real-life as her dance would suggest,back in 2006. She let people into her private dressing room- signed my program. So gracious-- her English was broken and she did not speak a lot-- but just as beautiful in person as stage...

The movement of her arms is mesmerizing. They truly become wings. Beautiful, just beautiful. Nina's my favorite ballerina.

The bows are a swan's bow, she's a once in a century ballerina. I watch every time, see new details, the arched, melancholic eyebrows, the lowered, humble shoulders. Like no other.

That woman has at least THREE elbows in EACH arm! I am completely transfixed each time I watch this, time is suspended and I have find an inner tranquility I had forgotten I had.

Her arms are Plisetskayaian. I saw Nina Ananiashvili last night in New Orleans in her capacity as Artistic Director of the Georgia Ballet. I went to the pre-performance talk at the theater. She was wonderful. So humble and a wonderful communicator. She was so funny and engaging. The gentleman with her was wonderful and asked her such interesting questions and her answers were so robust and interesting. The gentleman and Ana spoke of the great influence of Chabucianni and how he had changed male dancers from porteurs to real dancers in their own right. The gentleman also spoke of a film about Georgia they had made. Ananiashvili's company performed a Balanchine evening - Serenade and Concerto Barroco and a terrific Georgian folk-ballet piece choreographed by a Georgian. It was a lovely evening of pure dance. It was very hard not to think of Putin's horrible ongoing invasion of Ukraine. But it was so wonderful to be supporting this beautiful company led by such a great and watching such peace and beauty in contrast to the tragic devastation happening by the evil leader of their country. I felt Balanchine the whole evening in the quiet theater. How distraught he would have been to know what horror was happening. Yet so many years later, Balanchine is still giving the world the simplicity and great beauty of ballet, soothing wounds in the sancity of the theater for two hours, all of us worshiping in a temple of calm and beauty.

I think this is the best version of dying swan I ever saw. This first brought tears into my eyes. Wonderful. She IS a real swan.
iam from Georgia. my name is Salome, when i was little i was waching here ballet iin the georgian ballet castle. i know her. she is verry kind and lovely. i miss nino! but most of her ballets i love the swan lake. please bring it back to Georgia!

Wonderful interpretation. I agree, each ballerina is different, we should not compare, only admire them, when they are great as Nina is. Of course there are other great ones as Plisetskaya, Makarova, etc. but all of them are wonderful, each one with her very personal style, that's precisely what made them great prima ballerinas.

She is just great!!!!and so beautiful, it makes me cry every time i watch it,and I can just add another thing, the death can reach us everyone and in every moment, even when we not expect it and when we feel so strong, so to me to show the death is not show the weakness. How can you think this doesn't portray a swan dying? The whole point is she's trying to fight the death, and she does so with eloquence. The other dying swan dancers have no grace with their use of arms, it's all so mechanic, as if they just came out of rehearsal or something. This woman, however, IS a swan when she enters that stage. She synchronizes with the music, and lets go of all her muscle constraints, like a true prodigy. This is incredible, and it brings a tear to my eyes.
The first time I saw this I am pretty sure my mouth was hanging open ( and I was at the library) and then like thirty seconds it was over i said whoa! and the lady next to me started laughing! She makes everything look so easy!!!!!!!!!! I love love love this!

I watched Ananiashvili dance the "The Dying Swan" live recently, and there were tears streaming down my cheeks halfway through the dance. I consider myself lucky to have watched such an exquisite performance with such an exquisite ballerina. :-)
