I forgot to mention...speaking of Proven Winners...I'm a few miles from the Proven Winners trial gardens! That property would make you drool! Saffron Finch! Yeah!
I only put perennials in the ground. All my annuals are in pots. So you can imagine my surprise last yr. to see volunteers pansies grow everywhere. I live in zone 4B so it was unexpected. Also, a surprise ,volunteer portulacas all over last yr. I hope they come back, so beautiful. I did see 2 pansies already in my garden today. I've started seeds for the 1st time this yr. This wk-end is our areas first flea mkt. I can't wait. I always find farm items I use as flower containers & use to decorate my yard & gardens. We have 80 acres. I just love your gardens, so cottagey!
Estelle how fun!🙂 Hope you find some wonderful treasures at the flea market! 🙂 volunteer flowers are such a surprise! I had some petunias volunteer last year that I enjoyed the extra pop of color!🌸💚
Hi! I'm glad to have come across your video. I'm originally from Chicago and living in zone 5 for all my life I moved to Holland Michigan several years ago where I became a permanent resident, and now gardening in zone 6b because I'm sandwiched between Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa. I have maybe 25 roses right now, my most recent included 1 from High Country and the others are from David Austin and various local nurseries. I actually love the roses from Meinke garden center in Niles Il. Like you I have recently potted some roses . And I'm considering taking one out because it doesn't seem to be leafing out as much as I'd like. So that one may have to go into another pot with better drainage or in the ground... your garden is very beautiful. I'm going to search more of your videos today. Thank you so much for explaining everything as it was very helpful. You know TULIP TIME starts today. Take a day trip and come see the Windmill Island Gardens. Thousands of tulips still in bloom.
I love that area of Michigan!! Going to the PW gardens is on my list! My daughter and I had the privilege of attending the last PW Grand Garden Show in 2022 on Mackinac Island and touring the private home gardens! Stunning!!!😍 Thanks for the tip on shopping in Nile for roses. Same -I have DA roses, big box store , High Country Roses and even a small rose grower on Etsy! Love finding new flowers to add the garden!🌸💚
Hi sweet friend, First I must say I love the antique coffee pot with flowers so lovley! My style is cottage but it took me so time to get.my flower garden the way I always dreamed it to be. I always try to buy my pots and container thrifted too! I love the white roses! Wish I was there to smell them!
I wish I could have roses. I had to remove my knock out rose bushes 😢 due to Japanese beetles. I'm in zone 5 central Iowa. I don't like using insecticides and get the heeby jeebys picking them off.
Hi Michelle 😃I’ve had the same problem with planting only to find that within a day or two a critter has come along and dug it up. My guess is that the critter wanted the organic fertilizer, it’s made of bone meal and blood meal, I suspect that omnivores think there’s something dead to eat😝
Hey Angela, yes I think you are right and the raccoons are also looking for grubs to eat. Yesterday I found they had dug up a bunch of the seedlings I grew over winter! 😩 ugh…
Hi Michelle, A newbie subscriber, Love your videos! Could you please tell me what are the variety of your arborvitae? & are they deer resistant? They are beautiful, thank you Robinn Pa-zone6b
Welcome Robinn!🙂 the arbs are “Emerald Green” ( purchased at Lowe’s) 15 foot x 4 foot. I don’t know of any arbs that are deer resistant. Yes, so glad we added them! FYI…in hindsight I would space them closer to have more of that tighter living wall feel.🌲🌲🌲😉
Yes, I had voles two years ago in another flower bed, they are very destructive they would eat/destroy the entire plant. In this case the plants were fine I think it is the work of raccoons. Either way so frustrating!😩
Hello🙂 What’s your favorite annual to grow in your garden? Obviously I think Supertunias are fabulous for the color impact and performance!😍🌸🌺💖

Hi Paula, understand you wouldn’t want to pick them off by hand! 🙂🌸

Oh no! That is so frustrating! Sometimes I wish I had at least fifty wire cloches to help protect my seedlings and newly planted things

@@angelaengler2387 I hear you… I have several but obviously not enough, I keep moving them around trying to protect the new plants.🌱
