If you have a learning disability, and need to review lectures with excellent audio quality, you will be very happy about this pen. It has made my school life much easier
I don't go to class without this pen! I truly believe it has helped maintain my 3.5 GPA. I have a difficult time retaining everything said in class and when I review my notes at home I'm unable to recall what was said to what I've written. It's the best tool I have towards my eduction.
This is *definitely* one of the issues with this pen, which Donald Bell mentioned in the review. If you lose it, that's $100 down the drain. But, if you can be as protective about the pen as you are of your phone, I think you'd be OK.

i didn't expect it to be free but i wished it to be like 50 $. and i can do all this with my phone. just take pic of the note, and use evernote to record as note. i except this pan is way cool. nice review
Sharon can you make a vid on syncing iCloud with all your devices ? how to setup the iOS devices. I have probs getting my notes to sync on all my devices. thanks
omg we have this pen and it's just stuck on the paper box for more than a year and the notebook of it i just scribbled and scribbled on what ever stuffs.. i feel so dumb ryt now my mom didnt even tell me. i wonder where can i buy a new notebook now over the counter... my jaw keeps falllibg realizing what it can do by this video..
What happens when you run out of the paper or ink in the pen? Why won't they support the product when its out of warranty? can you purchase an extended warranty?
This is illegal at many schools, recording lectures personally is NOT okay where I live, sadly. I believe it's in part because at my university you must pay to have access to recorded lectures, so they'd be losing profit.
Your university is full of dumbasses. How is it illogal to record a lecture? Some time lectures are really long ans sometimes you need to record the teachers example to understand or remind yourself what you wrote ince you get home. Most importantly how the heck would they be loosing profit? They can listen to the lexture for free all they won't, however if you don't register and pay for the class it doesnt count towards your career regardless. I dont see how they can loose moneu for a class that is required for one's major anyways.

Be WARNED if your pen breaks down after it's out of WARRANTY live scribe will NOT support the products they sell. both of mine have fading displays live scribe said sorry we don't do repairs. Once they have your money we couldn't careless about the customer we have NO service department they just want you to buy another pen.
One should also note, the battery is NOT REPLACEABLE. When the pen is out of warranty YOU ARE SCREWED. Livescribe is a good idea, but their uncaring attitude is a deal killer. Unfortunately, some people don't understand the importance of taking care of the customer. The recent updates seem to be yet another step backward. Personally, I think that Livescribe will go the way of the 8 tracks. People can now write on their phones, record voice messages, voice to text, text to voice, etc. Livescribe has really blown it.
not worth it anyways. The idea is awesome but the pen itself sucks. The point where the ink comes out slides in and out and its really loose when writing so you hear that in the recording and you hear scratches as your writing.

Try the Pen Tablet App for the pen. That smart pen actually has apps you can download to enhance its functionality.

You can purchase a refurbished 4 gb Echo from Livescribe for $79.99. Same warranty as a new one. Works just fine!!

You can! You can print livescribe paper and then put it back through and print other things on it and record notes on those printouts!!
I think any standard refile can be used as there must be a scanner doing all the job
It would be nice if they put a physical button for record & stop ,so u can use any sort of paper sheets

Actually, there's an audio jack! I didn't show it off, but it's at the top of the pen, near the USB port. :)
I think it should have a feature to turn written notes to typed text.

how would this pen work for science majors where professors post up PDF slides? unless you can somehow print the slides with dot paper.
