I'm so happy you are revisiting these Q&A's about these past ships and consolidating past information. Almost daily I look for new information on the perseus and Kraken.
The kraken has some major firepower. Probably not crazy shields but it doesn’t have a firepower problem at all. I don’t think it has any guns smaller than s5
has size 5 and 6 and an 8. but they have said more recently that capitall ships would get pds turrets. so in theory the kraken might get more pds turrets on top of what it has. That being said i still am very skeptical about its combat performance or general use with newer damage systems. Those pads could be parts that can be lost in flight if you look at them tthey have very little support.
I'm obsessed with the Kraken. Its such a badass looking ship. And it would be cool to use it as a literal mobile base. Imagine flying it into the deep void of space and leaving it there. Then swap into cutlass black, or corsair and venture out. And also have like prospector or vulture onboard for profit. But at current state of game, its hard to imagine all that coming to fruition. But im hopeful!
There is already a great example of what can fit on the larger flight deck from this years citizencon. It had the corsair and another ship landed on it.
4:23 i distinctly remember seeing an episode where they mentioned the caterpillar could land on it. and i know i have seen imaged where ppl have mapped it out that it fits 15:57 Crew said all cap ships will have medical. 30:10 Crew said in todays IAE episode that they are working on the faterpillar so i would'nt be surprised if we see it mid 25.
Use decoupled mode, it smooths it all out and doesn't counter your throttle so if you are just right you can match the velocity of the moving kraken for landing. Otherwise the missiles are going to be physical. The ballistics ammo I would imagine are probably going to be crates you can load into a specific port on the ship that isn't in the game yet. The kraken has separate fuel stores for ships to take out of and stores for the fuel it uses for itself from what previous documentation stated. It has its own room in the ship for the tanks. The real questions are medbay and escape pods. Initially they did state that they were going to add the two in order to make it in line with other capital ships but reading more into it (As shown in this video) generates a lot of conflicting information. The medbay is kind of important for a mobile base. Initially PDCs were not slated to be included with the ship as well. All of this will be clarified eventually. All of this is speculation of course. But just wanted to add the information I could based on the information we have available. As a Kraken owner myself I have been monitoring all channels for information.
*For the Liberator Q&A, they wrote this:* "They are not explicitly protected. However, the shield projects multiple meters from the ship’s hull, so most ships would likely be partially covered (but not entirely). The same applies to the Kraken and any other ships where vehicles are stored on the exterior."
Yes. They recently decreased some ship quantum fuels. I got a Liberator and will self transport my own medium fighter or repair Vulcan to extend their range. Plus if friends need moving it’s there. Plus if I want to get paid transporting the options there. I think carriers are a good platform for combat, transport, mining, salvage/repair, etc.
I'm almost certain they did say something about the hull wrapping shield recently, I forget exactly where but I think it was in one of the recent IAE videos, or a recent Q&A
Whats up Marcus. FYI Richard Tyrer mentioned it in the capital ship combat discussion. He said that shields will hug the ship see the the IAE Show Episode 2 at 9m:10s
One note on the shields. With the Polaris they talked about capital shields and their physicalizing, they then referenced the Squadron 42 fleet battle. I wouldn't be surprised if they really plan for loosing the ship bubbles. Also I think the Kraken will end up with a lot of bespoke hardware, like a lot of it.
It will come, but not as show on the website. It is to small and lacks the firepower to stand up to other ships that are much newer. Also, to those that want one I say good luck. I have been trying to get one from the website for 3 years and every single time they show up on the website during the event it is sold out before I can even add to the cart. I blame the grey market and people with faster internet.
Are you trying to buy warbond? Or use in store credit? Because on the fiest wave today the kraken warbond version was up there for a decent time. And this was only in wave 1. I tried to use in store credit one and unfortunately couldn't manage to nab it fast enough.
there is a good chance the craken can get a fabrication printer that will likely build things as large as snub ships like dragon fly it has a gian dragonfly bay and with this printer building armors and guns and tractor beams all the way up to a dragon fly size is highly likely!!!! doesnt hurt to ask CIG for this!!! make some noise and they just may do it!!!
i know the cat can land accross the 3 mini pads or the main deck but i hope to see if a ironclad can stick. likely not but im creative so i will find a way if possible. you will never spawn ships in nothing but a base station or space station ships will need the interior space to fit any and all ships you wish to have spawned. just know ships that dont fith in an extra large hanger will persist in space forever while logged off the kraken has giant turrets but even though it could do some damage to a cap with its own guns there is no chance of survival without a healy fleet like if you had 3 or 4 eclipse on deck then the kraken will win any fight!!!! the kraken shields cover any item 10 meters above the deck so if you have a low profile ship it will be protected if its a taller ship it will pierce through the shields the Kraken is modular with only 1 possible option to have a privateer conversion or to remove the privateer conversion for the base kraken. this can change but you buy the module for 500 dollars or in game or buy the privateer and it comes pree installed and you can remove the module if you want a base the cargo question is you can use the cargo elevators or you can more easy lower the cargo elevator at the keel and have the fastest most efficient access to 1 off and on movement where as from deck you need to off ship onto elevator then off the elevator to the cargo belly
There are no 'promises' in ship capability. They are very clear about that, and you have to agree you read and understand a legal disclaimer to that effect before you are **allowed** to pledge.
Great video, this thing will be a beast when it finally comes out. Would be curious how they would answer these questions now, 6 years later. Got a question I would love you opinion on, how many hours/days/months/years do you think it should take a player to earn what it takes in order to get this ship in game?
An Org mobile base , Right now my ideal mix of ships the Kraken could carry would be on the 2 large pads (2x Redeemer) on 4 small pads (4x Gladius) and In the 2 hangers (2x Gladiators or 2x Ares) Redeemer to move players to a disabled Ship or drop to a planet, Gladiators (i believe is getting a rework to make it a better package) and Ares to disabled ships a a distance. anyone else have any different ideas?
Biggest thing on the kraken i see is its a merchant ship turned into a carrier. With damage systems coming in game i could see this ship loosing pads and taking massive damage easilly. Loosing even 1 small pad woulld hurt a lot since there is no support for the pads hardlly on ttop.
@marcuswynn89 No? Its just a ship that takes a lot from retrofitted carriers in the world wars. Cargo ship with makeshift pads on top and big guns. Those sort of ships had a lot of issues in the wars from what I have looked at and in combination with crossfire on deck guns while managing aircraft.
It would be nice if it was possible to obtain this ship without a dedicated program to checkout instantly the moment it's available. Or have a limited CCU for it. I would upgrade my polaris in a heartbeat.
That issue of logging off, seems like a problem if that ship is on a long haul. While capital ships are cool, I don't think they asshole be player owned. They should be guild/corporation owned. It could add an extra element of people needing to defend their terf as well. If your Polaris gets attacked, your corporation could lose it permanently if taken over. 🤷
Love the Kraken but will never own one. I mainly run solo, so this ship even with NPCs is just not practical for me. Love the design and role. For medical I think the privateer has it and nothing said about the base model. But I think CIG will add it to both. Keep in mind the Kraken is an older model so I would expect it to get a refresh before work begins. I also expect it to grow a tad
seeing how the guns on the pol are. im going to tell you unless you have a lot of guns or you are shooting another huge ship the guns are not going to hit anything lol
here i am talking mad shit about people that buy end game ships.... i said i woulld never and no one else should ever! but now i own a kracken with privateer module..... i still feal you should not get end game ships. mostly if you dont have ORG ceo or officer rank because you neve be allowed to pilot any lrge or larger ships in orgs that dont grant you a rank for many good reasons people overlook.... you cant land in motion it creates high speed collisions!!! maybe they can fix this in future but 1 ship should sit still long enough to take on or launch.... odds are they will not get to this fix in a long time
Honestly though, out of all the big cap ships I feel like (not optimal) you can solo the kraken if you're using it primarily as a player hub or mobile base. That's what appeals to me the most about it. Having my few utility ships and exploration ships, flying somewhere near a planet but safely hidden away Landing doing what. Gotta do then flying back to my kraken and moving on. I know I'll eventually join an org, but man, the idea of this thing being a legit mobile base just gets me.
@@DomBogey94 why not a liberator it does the same for 1/3 the price you get more speed and agility and a place to park it where as a kraken is to large for hangers once spawned forever stuck in space for the whims of people. what would you do if me and my 1 friend find you in our polaris and dumb fire our torps at the biggest target. funny thing is until CIG removes the ability to fly caps solo (its a matter of time) its a when not if!!!! they are looking for ways for capitals to be so complex to pilot how to require more than 1 player. i already told them a couple ideas i had to fix this. your disabled kraken will be mine to repair and then i will have the ship placed in my ownership as this is also a future feature even though your LTI will allow you to reclaim it you give me a free ship.... what kind of valuables are hidden in that giant? everyone will want to know they will scan you see your 1 pilot and realize you cant fight back and by the time you get to your decks to fly your defense ship i will cripple that too i think you need to think deeper more rounded on the complexity of solo giant... dont you know most of the kraken is all elevators and trolly you must call and wait for to get to the flight decks. just because right now you can hop in a seat and fly does not mean it can be soloed hop in a gun i will go to the blind side.... there is no scenario you can fly a kraken solo and expect good results... a liberator on the other hand will be faster easier to run your solo base out of
in about 10 years. they have no rush, first they finish RSI ships, then the Misc ones, then some other big ships like banu merchantman.. Drake gonna be last.
just have a bunch of tanks and rocket turret vehicles on the pads for extra fire power and nothing but stealthed furry's bwahahaha= Flotilla from Hell!

Gating certain ships behind a broken tutorial isn’t going to increase skill. Cig needed to spend hundreds of hours in AC like the rest of us to even appreciate what they built but they just simplified everything to a shitty arcade experience for the Bobs.

Every turret on the kraken is size 5 and bigger with a size 8 manned turret on the very front of the ship, really does help to check the stats

the kraken has giant turrets but even though it could do some damage to a cap with its own guns there is no chance of survival without a healy fleet like if you had 3 or 4 eclipse on deck then the kraken will win any fight!!!!
the kraken shields cover any item 10 meters above the deck so if you have a low profile ship it will be protected if its a taller ship it will pierce through the shields
the Kraken is modular with only 1 possible option to have a privateer conversion or to remove the privateer conversion for the base kraken. this can change but you buy the module for 500 dollars or in game or buy the privateer and it comes pree installed and you can remove the module if you want a base
