What a sad story of the little boy. I think you were very brave walking up a mountain in the dark. Your life is so much more varied now than in London. Thank for sharing your journey ❤️
I will give you my view of your blog Sean it makes me feel very relaxed watching it only came across it about a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed listening to you so I will have to check back issues well done sir pleasure to watch
An0ther great video and I for one think you do amazing to put out the amount of vlogs every week for our enjoyment. Some people are hard to please, but take no notice as there are so many of us who appreciate what you do. See you soon and bye for now.
Especially appreciate how you interject the historical photos into your videos! And I'm enjoying your humor too!! Will keep my laundry safely private. Blessings, Sean, and congratulations on achieving 50k subscribers!!
That story about poor Willie... bless him, he must have been so horrified. I remember losing my Mum in the grocery store, about the age of 5 and I thought I would lose my mind, I screamed blue murder. Very good video Sean. Thanks.
I saw the Northern Lights from South Devon one night. The colour was very subtle but there was also an amazing dance of patterns of rays of white light going on, which was exquisitely beautiful.
I am so pleased I found your channel Sean, it's a little gem. Re: energy. Prices are going down on 1st April. Since prices have been so high Sean, I have been using a heated throw. Essentially an electric blanket, but in a throw. I have never, ever been so toasty! So much so I bought my granddaughter one for Christmas. She is at uni and couldn't afford the heating on in her shared house. I knew a 20 year old wouldn't buy one for herself. Crazy granny did! So 7 watts an hour. That means for your kilowatt hour (1000 watts) you get 14, just short of 15 hours. For around 50p, check your bill for your price. I use mine in the afternoons. I have the central heating on for 1hour in the morning, and 2 hours at night to prevent the house getting damp. Use it when you are sitting, buy a double, about £35.00 Another point. You began at the worse time. In the summer, your direct debit builds up and that gives you an excess to use in the winter. I have recommended heated throws to countless people, and bar none, they have all been delighted. So is my dog! Your cats will be too.
The service station launderettes are popping up everywhere. As town ones are closing & aren't usually open all hours, where as the service station ones are great for lorry drivers & anyone travelling about, they are also 24/7. Whilst your washing is doing you can get alot of other stuff done, fuel or charge your car / van / lorry, eat drink, shower & wash your car / van. All admin done in one stop :)
Enjoying your walk to get your “wellies” and the history of the area , as you go along. Have to agree with the person ,who advises doing a long walk first - to break them in - do you wear socks under to help ? Im in the USA and not a Wellies expert. You do so well walking, wonder how much you did in London -
The night hike was interesting. Great that you connected with a group that plans a good hike regardless of time or temperature. I truly enjoy your casual narrative - observations, local history and insights.
We will be sing, We going to hang out the washing on the Rhondda line. The train in the next valley goes up to Aberdare from Pontypridd to Abercynon and to Merthyr Tydfil in the other valley. There is talk of reopening the line from Carmarthen to Aberystwyth via Lampeter and from Bangor to Cyenaddno and then we will have a line from End of Wales to the other again
Loved this video, the changes in the village, the night walk and the northern lights. Though such a sad tale of wee Willie it was lovely to see the memorial that is still looked after to this very day. It is that kind of community caring that you don't see in the city.
When I get cold I get up and do some kind of work and get warmed up. Very sad to hear about the little boy. Back in the day my friends and I would walk along Breakneck Ridge in cold Spring, NY in the night of a winter full moon. No flashlights. Boy we were dumb and lucky. Thanks for another lovely video.
It's funny how times have changes over the years for you in your old home town....in the town I was born....my father was born and his father was born...(in Quebec) has not changed much at all....if anything it's gone back in time....
That was another good one, I love the history interspersed with what you are seeing today. that poor lad, very touching people are still remembering him though.
Nice they are doing a train upgrade in your area. I have no trains here. Next town up does but it's a bit of a cost to take a cab or uber. Don't worry too much about winter heating/utility costs. My bills in the winter are often three times those in the summer. So, I budget for it. Year-round budget. Hope to see more progress in your backyard garden. Hello from rainy Oregon, US.
Hi Sean, thank you for your latest video, I like hearing about the history of the place. So sad about that poor little boy but wonderful that there is a memorial with him. Thank you. 😊
This was really interesting to watch and hearing all the stories of yesteryear Sean. The old pictures of the trains and the steam brought back memories of my childhood too. The walk was so lovely and then… well, R.I.P. Young Willie 😢 choked me and hubby up. So sad but thanks to you and your channel we all know of young William now God bless him. Well, hope the tea was enjoyable and your bones warmed Sean. We are all looking forward to being with you as you break in the new wellies. ❤
Thank you for taking us along to show us the areas and the night walk seems fun. by the way one good thing about an air fryer you do save on electric and it cooks very quick although It cannot cook every thing. Thank you Sean.
I love the valleys, my Mum was born in Llandudno and left with her grandparents in Cwmfelinfach in the beautiful Sirhowy Valley with a pretty river and walks. I hate the modern houses and estates, the stone built properties were far more appropriate to the landscape. I was not brought up there but always visiting family and having the best time ever. My heart is always there. I want to do the zip liner, it looks thrilling but my friend exceeds the maximum weight, so he will have to watch and meet me at the other end. So sad about that little boy William, bless him, what a lovely memorial for him. 😢 Take care and thank you, this was interesting, BTW make sure to break your wellies in and do short walks, carry a tube of vaseline and blister plasters just in case. Have fun. 👍 🌹
When they drained the lake - by the zip wire - many years ago to deepen it, they discovered 'celtic offerings' on the bottom of it. The cauldron they found is in Cardiff museum.
That was a nice walk to see the local sights. Maybe wait until the lighter evenings it would be a lovely walk then.thank you for showing us around exspecially about the little boy.
Hello Sean, the northern lights are certainly something special along with the clear view of the stars,it must have been a lovely walk for you,how awful about that poor little boy, very heartwarming that people still place toys and flowers in his memory.i hope your boots didn't give you blisters. I also have one of the weird pop up launderettes near where I live, this one is on a petrol station forecourt of all places 😂 perhaps if you do another night walk you could invest in a torch that you can attach to your hat, then you would have a free hand to carry a flask of tea! 😉💜
What a lovely walk in the dark, I bet the stars were magnificent. Such a sad story about the little boy, it must of been awful wondering where he was then finding him like that. Another lovely video Sean.
I live in Sweden, have a house of 100 square meters and my January bill was 510 Pounds, but now it's over "I have bought a Pellet Boiler" already now I have reduced the heating cost to 1 third, Tip get an induction plate for the kitchen bought my at lidl 20 pounds it saves huge on electricity.
Enjoying your videos. They're very relaxing at the end of a days work. I was following your video with a map of the area as I don't know a lot about it.
Sad story about the little boy. I always seem to hold my breath when you do these walks and this one in the dark! You really looked cold the last part of the vlog. You have to have tough feet to go on a hike like that with regular mud boots. My feet would have been so cramped up. Another wonderful vlog❤
That was such a sad story about the little boy, how on earth did he wander up that mountain alone? Did they ever investigate if he was taken by someone? I am pleased the memorial is so well looked after. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I did wonder about that. I listen to a lot of real life crime podcasts so I have developed a suspicious mind. Then there is the loss of clothing and did Sean say he was found partially buried?
@@seanjamescameron yes it is probably my imagination. I obviously have no idea. I really hope it was innocent. I genuinely do, just the bad thought crossed my mind.
Hope your wellies hold up better than mine, Sean! I've gone through three pairs of Dunlops in the past two years, and none of them lasted more than a few months before leaking like crazy.
I don’t really relish hiking in the dark. So easy to have an accident. Glad you had your new wellies on. You do need time to work them in so that you don’t have blisters. Sad story about the child that died on your hiking trail in 1902. Did not know about that side effect of hypothermia. Thank you for another interesting video Sean.
When I was a little boy, the shed housing the Rhondda Borough Council steamroller was situated where that bridge to the industrial estate now stands. The field on the left and most of that industrial estate was the massive concrete coal washery for the Abergorky colliery. In the 1960s Angel's scrapyard occupied the site. The farm you referred to at Tylecoch, was owned by Lyn Jones who was riding his horse above Treorchy which stumbled into a crack in the dam and its discovery saved the valley from drowning. Tylecoch, I was told by my father, took its name as the place where the last wolf in Wales was killed.
Poor little soul, he must had been so frightened. 😢 I once was invited to bring my horse on a night trail ride. I wasn’t brave enough. Now you need a good ghost story or a big foot sighting on your night walks.
Your videos are lovely, so natural, it’s like catching up with a friend. I really appreciate them, they are so relaxing and peaceful. Thank you, Carol in Australia🇦🇺
I thought about your electrical bill issues, and then this frugal France youtuber said they charge a solar battery during the cheap hours for electricity, and then use the solar battery during the expensive hours. So instead of plugging the toaster, coffee machine, hair dryer, etc into a wall socket during the day, they plug their devices into the solar battery. Only useful if you have cheaper rates during the day/week.
Well Done Sean out getting out on your walks. Very interesting to hear the history, changes and people who lived and worked there. A bright sky day in Wales. Lovely to hear beautiful Welsh accent at 23 mins by your guide. Aww Poor Little Lad, only 5 yrs. Rest in Peace Willie 🙏
Picked up a copy of "I bought a mountain" from a online used book store "Thrift Books' Something to think about house in London was more than likely better insulated and the cost cheaper due to population density Dad then I used to wear leather dress boots called Wellingtons.
The washing machines are for the lorry drivers, people that live in vans & motorhomes & holiday makers. A lot of places have them now & sometimes there's a water tap so they can fill their water supply up as well. They've become more popular with the uncrease of van lifers. On a sad note, I can't imagine how scared & frightened that little boy must have been all on his own up there. He was probably hungry & cold too bless him🥹 What his parents must have gone through too doesn't bear thinking about. His mother probably blamed herself for the rest of her life, poor soul.
The train you saw is the old type of train, we have these in the vale. I haven’t been up to Treherbert since 2019 it already looks different, so many trees gone. In the last video it appeared that you had a smart meter, if so this will give you an idea of which appliances use the most. Also some energy suppliers have schemes where people can apply for cheaper rates if they use energy at certain times of the day mainly when no one else is using it.
I for one (as well as many others) really appreciate the hard work Sean puts into his wonderful videos and would hope he can ignore any negative comments that come his way. We love what you do Sean and will always support your great channel. Don't work too hard though and take time out to enjoy your own private life away from the internet. Be kind to yourself.
It was so sad to hear about the little boy and he was only five years old wandering the mountain bless him 🙏. And I remember the steam engines 🚂 when I was child and going to the beach god old days. And thank you Sean for taking us on a late evening walk ☕
Great vid Sean, but such a sad story about the little boy 😔 I wouldn't mind a go on the zip wire ... well, only in my dreams to be honest 🤣 My other thought was, maybe a good, stout pair of walking boots might be more preferable to wellingtons. I always find wellingtons are cold and don't keep the heat in, and not very comfortable for walking ... but maybe that's just me 🤔
Sad story. Also you wouldn't find me on a mountain, day or night. Don't like heights. Goes back to a school trip to Wales where i got up but froze and couldn't get down lol 😅
You are walking so much now, hope when your new bike arrives you still walk, far better for you, your village is quiet large. Loved the gates, made me chuckle when you called em fat people gates.
Hiking in pitch dark with flashlights looks like fun. It certainly gets you to focus completely on the object and makes it pop. If I’m looking for something in the shed, I turn the lights off and use my headlight, it’s amazing how you can spot stuff in the beam. Cheers from San Diego
Had all my teeth pulled yesterday can't tell you how happy I was this morning to see your vidio ..I don't know why but I love watching your shows thank you for cheering me up ...thank you you probably go through waves of doubt about your move but I can assure you your decision was the right one ...new allotment will be the cherry on the cake ...
Have been enjoying your sharing of personal memories and the beautiful video images of the valley. Was wondering Sean is there an official street divide between Treherbert and Treorchy. When you purchased the wellies you spoke of been in Treorchy and after a short walk you seem to be back in Treherbert looking across to where you lived.
Great that got welles ther look good ones must be different going up mountain in dark new tram way called metro going into Cardiff City centre soon new depot for trams taffy wells very interesting
In the mid 70s the forestry road network on top of the Rhigos across to the Afan side of the Bwlch accommodated Land Rover trips by Rhondda Borough and Mid Glamorgan County Council Planning Departments. These were provided free of charge. Oh for those long ago days of generous councils. Llyn Fawr was a natural lake or tarn before becoming a reservoir. During its construction, various ancient British votive remnants were discovered. A cauldron and shield being the most significant. These are held (but never displayed for some reason) by the National Museum for Wales. A replica of the cauldron occupied pride of place outside the council chamber in the former municipal offices in Pentre. I wonder if it's still there? The road over the Rhigos was constructed during the Depression by out of work miners including the grandfathers of myself and my wife. This was in order to encourage new industry to replace the coal mines (which had struggled to cope with the competition from German output consequential of post WW1 reparations) via the nearby Heads of the Valleys Road to link with the English Midlands.
What a sad story of the little boy. I think you were very brave walking up a mountain in the dark. Your life is so much more varied now than in London. Thank for sharing your journey ❤️
I can not believe how young the boy was poor boy
Sean I think you should carry a emergency button , to alert your emergency services , when you’re out walking especially on your own.
Such a sad story about young Willie. Lots of stories like this in mountainous areas. Another brilliant video, Sean.
I will give you my view of your blog Sean it makes me feel very relaxed watching it only came across it about a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed listening to you so I will have to check back issues well done sir pleasure to watch
It's so nice that you have the old pictures to show how things have changed.
An0ther great video and I for one think you do amazing to put out the amount of vlogs every week for our enjoyment. Some people are hard to please, but take no notice as there are so many of us who appreciate what you do. See you soon and bye for now.
Poor little boy!
What a sad story. We are all learning so much about your home Sean. Thank you! 😊
Your local knowledge and inserted pictures from the past really bring these walks to life.Another gem.
Poor little mite,he must have been terrified.
Especially appreciate how you interject the historical photos into your videos! And I'm enjoying your humor too!! Will keep my laundry safely private. Blessings, Sean, and congratulations on achieving 50k subscribers!!
I think someone was cutting onions near me at 26:59. My little boy is 6, the thought of that boy dying alone on a cold mountain is so sad 😢
I think there were a lot of onions being chopped! I have a 5 and 6 year old so yes, it’s heartbreaking.
That story about poor Willie... bless him, he must have been so horrified. I remember losing my Mum in the grocery store, about the age of 5 and I thought I would lose my mind, I screamed blue murder.
Very good video Sean. Thanks.
Everyone 50 years and over should have free public transport.
*Special mention about the fantastic editing throughout on this video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻*
I saw the Northern Lights from South Devon one night. The colour was very subtle but there was also an amazing dance of patterns of rays of white light going on, which was exquisitely beautiful.
God bless you willie, sleep with the angels little one xxx🙏🙏
What a sad story of the little lad but Thankyou still for sharing 💔
Use it when you are sitting, buy a double, about £35.00
Another point. You began at the worse time. In the summer, your direct debit builds up and that gives you an excess to use in the winter.
I have recommended heated throws to countless people, and bar none, they have all been delighted.
So is my dog! Your cats will be too.
Totally agree with you.
I agree I love my heated throw. I have one on the bed upstairs and one on the sofa downstairs, wouldn’t be without one.
I bought a heated throw at the beginning of winter. I just love it! Gets really cold in my neck of the woods in Michigan!
Wow that’s sad story about the boy 😢 night time walking what an adventure that is ❤
Great video loved it thank you, fly with the angels William , a very sad story 💔

A lovely thing to do Sean!! If only Willie knew then that he would be remembered forever 120 years on!! 🙏💛
Try walking in your wellies first before a long walk, I once walked ten miles in mine and ended up with blisters.xx🐝🐝
Enjoying your walk to get your “wellies” and the history of the area , as you go along. Have to agree with the person ,who advises doing a long walk first - to break them in - do you wear socks under to help ? Im in the USA and not a Wellies expert. You do so well walking, wonder how much you did in London -
That was a lovely evening walk Sean. I feel dreadfully sorry for the little 5 year old boy lost on the mountain. What a sad story.
I would love to do the zip wire even at 72 ,have a go
The night hike was interesting.
We have laundry machines behind our petrol station in Argyll. They are very handy for big items like quilts and bedspreads.

Back in the day my friends and I would walk along Breakneck Ridge in cold Spring, NY in the night of a winter full moon. No flashlights. Boy we were dumb and lucky. Thanks for another lovely video.
You seem much happier now. I lived in London for a while, but was glad to get away - too much built up areas and no green.
It's funny how times have changes over the years for you in your old home town....in the town I was born....my father was born and his father was born...(in Quebec) has not changed much at all....if anything it's gone back in time....
I did have a chuckle about the dirty laundry in public lol x
What a very sad story and another excellent video Sean can’t wait for the next one 👍👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👏👏👏👏
That is such a sad story and I can’t imagine what his poor mother felt waiting those 2 weeks for her young child to be found.
RIP

Lovely vlog, sad too. I do enjoy a night or dawn walk but preferably somewhere I've been in the daylight first! 😊

Awww that poor child 😢 . I love old trains and you walking past that launderette 😅😅
I love the valleys, my Mum was born in Llandudno and left with her grandparents in Cwmfelinfach in the beautiful Sirhowy Valley with a pretty river and walks.

When they drained the lake - by the zip wire - many years ago to deepen it, they discovered 'celtic offerings' on the bottom of it. The cauldron they found is in Cardiff museum.
I’ve touched that cauldron because during the 80s it was in Pentre at the council offices. There was also a sword there.
Another interesting ramble, that sad story at the end, very poignant
Burberry is still very much being manufactured up here in West Yorkshire. They’re a huge employer so thankfully they didn’t move it all to China.
What an experience, Sean.
Very sad story too.
Thank you for taking us along👋
Another great vlog. Thank you for sharing Sean. Sad ending brought the tears down.. poor little soul..
awesome video Sean, and a very sad story RIP Willie.

I can remember my father bringing me over from aberdare to pollycoffs to get me a suit for a wedding in 1970 there was a factory shop there.

Thx for another interesting video. I do not get hiking at night. Unless it is a level piece of land I don't see the attraction. Enjoy, and be careful.

Here in the US we have National Grid (English) and they charge more for “delivery” than for actual usage, so we can’t win

Thank you for a very interesting video with great editing.
Great vid Sean, but such a sad story about the little boy 😔
I wouldn't mind a go on the zip wire ... well, only in my dreams to be honest 🤣
My other thought was, maybe a good, stout pair of walking boots might be more preferable to wellingtons. I always find wellingtons are cold and don't keep the heat in, and not very comfortable for walking ... but maybe that's just me 🤔
Even in the dark you part of Wales is beautiful, you can see the stars and others are out too. Thank you for another lovely video.
Sad story. Also you wouldn't find me on a mountain, day or night. Don't like heights. Goes back to a school trip to Wales where i got up but froze and couldn't get down lol 😅
Fideo da fel arfer. Trio potel poeth i gadw yn dwym.
You are walking so much now, hope when your new bike arrives you still walk, far better for you, your village is quiet large. Loved the gates, made me chuckle when you called em fat people gates.
I wonder if you have Long-eared Owls with all those conifer trees? Poignant video, but very enjoyable.
I can hear owls when I go to bed.
Sad story of the little boy 😢 .how does it feel to see so many changes ? ❤❤
I've covered this in many videos over the past fortnight.
That sounds painful, hope that you feel better soon
Have been enjoying your sharing of personal memories and the beautiful video images of the valley. Was wondering Sean is there an official street divide between Treherbert and Treorchy. When you purchased the wellies you spoke of been in Treorchy and after a short walk you seem to be back in Treherbert looking across to where you lived.
Love watching your blogs sean look forward to them everyday. Wales is such a beautiful place. Best wishes sean.
I also need new Wellies - my toe joints are developing mild osteoarthritis and I want more room in the toebox.
The original items were on display inside the council chambers but are now in Cardiff. Remember seeing it there.
