8 yrs ago my hubby fell from scaffolding just before his 60th birthday . It left him using a wheelchair. It was a huge life changing thing your plans you had when you retire completely gone it took him 2 years to exept a wheelchair . He fine with it now. But it left me with awful anxiety I get days when I can't think straight like brain fog. I get myself out with my dogs I love walking to it helps a lot. Take care slow down a bit have a break from filming. We will be hear for you still ❤
We had a similar occurrence in our lives. We travelled quite a bit, planned on many more expeditions, but at 60 my husband was diagnosed with M.S. He went from a very active man to a very tired man who uses a cane on a regular basis, but a walker on bad days. It was a scary experience because his first attack left him immobile and they told us he had an inoperable tumour on his spine. However the swelling went down and it became clear there were lesions on his spine and brain. We take it day by day and I'm just happy to have him here with me still. Sending hugs to you and @RuthWalker575. Life changes in the blink of an eye, indeed.
I live in a big house that takes a lot to heat. I bought a heated throw rug and used that through the day and evening. When your really tired you feel the cold. I would still be cold even with the heaters on. With the heated throw over me I didn’t need the extra heaters on . My bill went right down. It helped with my aches and pains as well.
I bought one from a large, well known department store with a man's name, (not sure if I'm allowed to say) and it is wonderful. The lovely warmth just spreads right over you without having to wait. We have hardly put the heating on during the week since I bought it.
Yes,heated throws are wonderful. I’m warm and my pain level goes down. I have fibromyalgia. I live in Pennsylvania. Our house is old. We heat with a pellet stove, upstairs tends to be cold.
I would turn your under stairs cupboard into a pantry with shelves. You could keep all your dry goods in there and also store the cooking equipment that you don’t use every day. Hope you feel better soon. x
Hello Sean….. it’s ok just take your time and don’t worry about the brain fog we all get it from time to time….. it doesn’t make your videos any less enjoyable, so good to follow your journey which we are all on and get through the best way we can… enjoy the small things as they are so important. Bye for now xx❤
One of the other traditional Welsh sweets sold by that shop contains paragoric. So I looked up what paragoric is. Apparently it is a class III narcotic containing ethanol and opium powder! Blimey! This might account for the latest video of Sean dancing with his leek in his hand.
Morning Sean, I’ve not been using ‘social media’ for best part of a year. Too be perfectly honest, chiefly because I find it grinds me down and depresses me. However, I have missed your fabulous Welsh lilt, and pleasant and measured observations on life, so I’m back. Some people call it a sounding board, but as in the real world, you enjoy the company of like minded. Keep up the great work 👍🏻🇬🇧
I don't have any diagnosed fatigue but for ages, I have been extremely tired and unable to get things done. My muscles were aching just from walking up the stairs. Then I heard about the importance of good quality Magnesium (don't buy the cheap stuff) and Taurin, so I bought some Magnesium Bisglycinate with Taurin, and boy, does that make a difference. It is a bit expensive but to me, it's well worth the investment as I feel so much more alert and awake!
As someone mentioned before you need a dehumidifier. We bought a small inexpensive o e from Aldi and it has been great. Your washing will dry faster and you will avoid mould issues.
Sean next time your near a charity shop pop in and pick up some long curtains for you back door and front door that may help with keeping it warm it work for us x
Hello Sean I live solo in a busy but lovely part of London .. I feel lonely at times .. but it’s Ok I keep myself busy .. Books Coffee mornings I go to Pilates and Gym it’s good for my well being .. I really enjoy your videos .. a heated Blanket is certainly a good investment Take Care Self care and love from London x
My husband was diagnosed with CFS many years ago. We have found that different things help different people, that's why you find so many different solutions for CFS. What works for my hubby may not work for a dozen other people. Because of his brain fog I became an expert at hubby's CFS. I kept a notebook so I would not forget anything. We were extremely lucky to find a GP who specialised in this. Dr was a trained obstetrician but changed specialties when he himself was diagnosed with CFS. He used both conventional and alternative treatments.
So sorry you aren't feeling too well Sean. I hope you are on the mend a bit now . .I love your little Rusty brooch, such a nice little memento.. What a shame the shops were closed on your trip, that was a pain for you and the weather didn't help. I love seeing all your new additions , people are so kind . .Good luck with renting some land, that would be excellent .
Bora da Sean, With my Fibromyalgia I suffer with episodes of fatigue that suddenly comes on me and I literally will sit down on the sofa and fall asleep for 14 hours straight. My Rheumatologist gave me vitamin B6 and Folic Acid to help me. I also take vitamin B12 which helps. When I get those episodes of extreme fatigue, it’s like hitting a wall with “brain fog”. I seem to have less episodes when taking these vitamins regularly. Maybe they may help you too.
You can have vitamin B12 injections. Ask your doctor about them. My sister in.law is on them. She suffers with the same kind of illness. The tablets have nowhere near as, a good affect as the injections. Dont let the doctors fob you off. Wishing you all the best.
I’m 67 I remember when shops closed Thursday afternoon and most shops on Sundays not anymore everyday the same for retail workers I’m in north London best wishes to you new to the channel enjoying it a lot
If your house is hot and dry from electric heaters I'd make sure to drink a little bit more so you're not dehydrated, especially since you were feeling warm on your walk as well. Brain fog can be a side effect of being a little bit dehydrated (and makes you feel tired too) so chug back a couple of glasses of water just to be on the safe side. Doesn't take much to throw things off balance.
I am on the Gold Coast, just checked my pantry, and still have my tin of Nerada tea, which I bought a couple of years ago, from there, does tea go off?
We tend to have better weather earlier in the Summer, this wet weather sets in around the end of July and except for some cold spells, continues right through. I am more concerned by the lack of quality daylight hours this Winter, February normally sees improvement, but it is grey and waterlogged.
@@LibbySlaughter101 well Libby.....a HobNob (no 'K', just "Nob') are a delightful wee, rather saucy, buttery oat biscuit that comes comes in a few variants. They're perfect for dunking in me Typhoo. Awwww I LOVE the Rusty pin badge, my family on my late Mothers side are all from from Tonypandy, Rhonnda, my Mum and Nan grew up in Tonypandy and moved to Birmingham in the mid 1950's, I hope you feel better soon, Brain fog is a pain and I get it quite a lot too especially when I am stressed or have a lot going on, it makes me feel muddled and confused and hard to focus, thanks so much for sharing with us Sean and sending lots of love from Belfast to Wales XXXX
Sean try putting your camera in a bag of rice for a couple of days as that absorbs any moisture. Rusty looks great on your jumper, he'll always be with you
@@eh6454 Ahhh that's nice. Tell me, where was your Grandad from?. My Grandad was Joseph Bye, 'Joe', he grew up in South East London. His parents were originally from Ireland.
@@frankiebye Thank you for your interesting reply 😊 My grandad was born and raised in Berkshire, as were his parents and grandparents and earlier generations (a family tree was drawn up some decades ago). I have no recollection of a connection to Ireland ever being mentioned, so I suspect our families may not be connected. It is an uncommon surname, though, and I always get a warm feeling of kinship when I come across someone with the name, even though we may not be related 😊 My grandad, your namesake, was awarded the MBE back in the early 1970s 🏅😊
@@eh6454 So sorry for my late response. Wow, your Grandad was awarded an MBE, amazing, thanks to him there's an MBE next to my name that I myself have no chance of ever achieving, I salute your Grandad. Nevermind not being blood related, we'll always be kinship related. Wishing you health, wealth & happiness, from the 'Bye' clan 😊
@@frankiebye Aww, thanks for your lovely response, and no worries about timing. That's really nice that you saluted my grandad - I salute your grandad, Joe, as well. And of course you can have MBE after your name, just as I can - we're Members of the Bye Empire, after all 😄 Wishing you and our clan all the very best for health, wealth and happiness, also 😊
Sorry you are having a flair up. I just got over one of mine and ugg now I'm a week behind. Be good to yourself it will eventually pass. Mine triggers from weather, too much sugar, and stress. But then stress makes me snack on goodies. Wet and cold weather causes my arthritic joints to hurt more. A viscous circle. Been fighting this autoimmune problem for over 40 years now. Started after I had mono when I was 18. I notice my brain fog is worse if I don't keep a sleep schedule and get the good sleep between 11pm and 2am. So bed by 9:30 (I usually naturally get tired by 9) and my eyes pop open around 4-5am. Thank you for being you and posting your normal vlogs even if you are in a fog. There are a lot of us out there! ❤ love the pin!
@chrisrey572 Check out how much damage Gluten does to those with Autoimmune diseases, your Brain fog will dissapear if you can cut the Gluten completely out of your diet. All the best
Hi Sean, I thought you sounded fine. 👍 Just to say you can save more energy on your boiler by turning down the flow temp on your boiler for hot water to between 55c - 60c degrees. We did that and the water is still plenty hot enough and because the water isn't being heated to whatever it is set to now you will save some money. Yes we turned off our pre-heat function it does take slightly longer for hot water to come through but not the end of the world!
I have found the podcasts on youtube from people with Me/CFS, very helpful. They are experiencing in real time but, like us, are always researching and learning. Can find tips on how to manage daily etc, find encouragementand humour. Ive found the Me/CFS association site really useful to. I so understandthe brain fog. I once forgot where I lived. Fortunately someone was with me. Its not dementia. I run my own business at 70….it was like some thick fog came down. Bit scary. Your amazing to have the not sit at home and die attitude. Cosseting is so dangerous. Your activity mindset is amazing and will pay off. Stay active, pace, enjoy quality time and keep smiling….best way to handle the condition and enjoy life. 🙂
Hiya Sean, I just found you by chance, about a week ago I am now hooked, on watching you. I have found you very interesting, I love the way you do your cooking, Pleased you are enjoying being back in Wales all the very best to you, I am from Yorkshire, take care keep doing what you are doing,
Hi Sean. New here, but enjoying your content. I admire your decision of leaving a big city for a peaceful place in country side. That's quality. Greetings from Portugal.
In the valleys Thursday is half day closing for shops as on mid Saturday afternoon about 330 to 4 o clock the shops closed earlier before after 3.pm the small shops are dead so the small shops close.
Thanks for the vlog and another wonderful visit home.I plant my bought leeks and parsnips until I’m ready for them…….they start growing again and keep fresh. Just put them in a planter outside the back door. Ps, currently also joined nestling up close, 1 swede and several spring onions…….also growing happily 😀
Sean, the brain fog is a bummer. I cross the days off on my calendar every day otherwise I don't know if I'm coming or going. I also write as much as I can on said calendar eg which town has half day closing and when. I do hope that this horrible phase of ME goes away soon. BTW you did very well on the video, much better than you maybe thought 🥰😍🤩
Over two years ago I had a lot of the body symptoms you describe. After leaving my day job my stress went way down and I was finally able to focus on my health. The change in my mind and body are incredible. I lost 62 pounds (4.5 stone) and my brain is much sharper. I quit alcohol and sugar. Both of these were inflaming my body and the inflammation was wreaking havoc everywhere inside me. These were not easy things to eliminate from my life but I can tell a huge difference when I sneak in a piece of cake because I feel like crap for several days afterwards. I also quit most ultra processed foods which are full of all manner of chemicals that disrupted my body. I increased my water intake a lot. So much of my problems were from dehydration. I increased my lean protein intake significantly. This is what supports and builds muscle which is what my body needs for longevity. Most people under eat protein and changing this will change everything. All of my carbs now come from whole foods like veg and oatmeal. Occasionally I sneak in a small bit of wholegrain pasta. The regular stuff turns to sugar so quickly in my body. My fat intake comes from nuts, seeds and avocados. These changes along with walking in the woods a few times a week and lifting heavy weights five times a week have changed my life forever. It's much easier to resist that cake now because I know how crummy it will make me feel. And what I want is to feel good and strong for as long as possible. I'm over 50 so I knew it was now or never to get fit so I won't end up dependent on others in an overcrowded and underfunded nursing home in my later years. That's my reason to stay healthy. I hope you're able to find your reason soon Sean and start your own road to better living through good health. I didn't do all this stuff all at once. It was a little at a time and there were plenty of backsliding but overall the needle is moving in the right direction. You can do it too. britishlivertrust.org.uk/sugar-and-the-liver-what-you-need-to-know/
Hi Sean, Just a couple of suggestions for kitchen storage. If you have a laundry or somewhere cool you could put/hang you veggie basket there as it is taking up a lot of room. You can buy over the door hooks so can hang stuff from that. Your steamer is big so just the 3 pot steamer which in diameter is a lot smaller. Would your landlord allow a shelves/shelve to go on the end wall? There are hooks that slide into a top cupboard and the hooks are under the cupboard so can hang items from that as well. Any large cooking items could be stored in a cupboard like I have in my shed. Enjoyable videos.
Taking a multi B complex vitamin tablet will help with the tiredness and brain fog. Mine is caused by cancer treatment and at times I wondered if I had dementia starting, even putting things in the right bin was a challenge. Keep your walks short but regular to avoid flare ups, it's important to pace yourself. Check the temperature on your boiler, it can be set at 55 degrees to save money if it is a combi boiler. If you have a conventional boiler with a hot water cylinder then set that at 65.
Hello Sean, I couldn't believe the price of the bus fare, that is extortionate 😯 i agree with you 100% about going to the shops for buying clothes and shoes, even though i am guilty of a bit of internet shopping,it is causing the death of the high street.I get brain fog as well as i have had diabetes for 24 years,it makes me feel old but I refuse to give in to my invisible illness.we just need to live our best life during the day and rest well at night.love the rusty pin,so cute! Take care and hope you feel better soon 💜
Wouldn't be without my slow cooker makes a lovely beef stew and dumplings it's nice to come home to a hot meal thanks for the videos nice to see the area my dad was born in the valleys and his father was a miner
Now you are back in Wales, another benefit we have are bus passes that start at a lower age than in England! Apply for a Welsh Concessionary Travel Card through Transport for Wales. Also works on some train services! 🚍🚂 toot toot!
Sean those electric heaters will runaway with your money if you have them up high just use them on very low to provide a little background heating same as the gas dont have it too high and put on more layers or even use a blanket while sitting reading etc.
Here in the states, teaching hospital sites, like the Mayo Clinic, Columbia University, NYU Langone, Duke University are all reliable for health information. Also, you might be interested in looking up intermittent fasting. I did lose 40 pounds following that idea.
A couple of pine Shelves in kitchen , on that back wall ? Build in rest time into your week to balance the energy used on outings etc the electric heaters look fab! We only have electric here (near Bala) so they’d be handy if you have a link.
Besides the fact that I like to garden, I enjoy watching your videos because they remind me of my visits to the UK. I live in the States and, for a while, was visiting there nearly every year up until 2019. This video reminded me of why I’m hesitant to plan another trip, as I use public transport to get around, and I know the events of recent years have impacted its reliability. On my last trip I visited south Wales and was able to get a very reasonably priced pass that allowed me to use the trains/buses for 8 days, so it worked out great. I had a couple thoughts about subjects you discussed here. Is there room in your kitchen to add a shelf for additional storage? Also, when I’m not feeling up to par, I often turn to herbal teas. Have you looked into growing herbs to make your own wellness teas?
Thank you Sean for highlighting how brain fog affects you. I have fibromyalgia and there are days where normal function isn't possible. Be kind to yourself. I love watching your every day life. Don't let yourself get too cold, from my experience brain fog is much worse then. Kind regards from Newark on Trent xx
The connection between brain fog and fatty liver has to do with liver function. When the liver gets too impaired ammonia levels in the blood can rise and this can cause 'fog' and worse. However, liver function has to be significantly impaired for this to occur. You can ask your MD to order an ammonia level (or a complete liver function panel - LFT) to get a snapshot of how your liver is doing. You look pretty healthy to me! BTW, I'm a med-surg nurse, not a doctor, but I've cared for a fair number of liver patients over the course of my career. Fatigue can also cause what you are talking about. New to the channel and enjoy the chatty format. PS: I have used oil filled radiator space heaters for years and they work great! The best feature is that there isn't an element that can set the curtains (or anything else nearby) on fire!
Sean you have convector heater and not an oil filled heater. Convector heaters use a lot more electricity than an oil filled radiator. They do cost a bit extra to buy but a lot cheaper to run especially as the convector heater you purchased looks like the 2kw model
I really enjoy watching your chats about this area. Many of my ancestors on both my mom and dads side originate from this area in the UK. My spirit feels a connection for sure.
Hi Sean, have u ever passed your motorcycle test? My 125cc does 140 mpg and has underseat storage and topbox and with a rucksack a fair bit of shopping can be done. Park anywhere as cheap or cheaper than an e bike to buy 2nd hand. I live on my own for last 7 yrs and feel like I have brain fog and wonder if it’s the loneliness. It’s worth asking dr for blood tests as you can be deficient in vitamins or folic acid. Also I think the winter makes you feel drab. Wet and miserable
New to your channel, trying to catch up on your older ones...I've had Chronic Fatigue for many, many years & what has helped me is RX Armodafinil 50 mg {Nuvigil} from my Rheumatologist. I take one a day if I'm staying home, two a day if I leave the house... This works for me. The other thing, if I do too much, I stop & rest, & pace myself. Good luck from NC, USA!
Sean you have been doing and accomplishing so very much ! There IS so much going on WITH And IN your journey right now. It's one of the most stressful things we do to relocate . ie grounding, settling , orientating, social connections, financial stuff, etc. Take ... time ... for ... yourself ... to simply ... potter. You can dance this if you don't put too much pressure on yourself. Much Love and Respect from Australia 🙏💖
Hi Sean, I can totally understand and sympathise with the brain fog ! I have suffered from M.E for the past 20 years and in the severe category to start off with . I think the only thing to do is not to try to push through it and rest your brain! I love your cat badge and I wear animal badges all the time 😺! Have you thought of getting a heated clothes airer to dry your clothes when it is raining, as they are good as heat the house up as well and cheap to run. I live in Cornwall so also get a lot of rain too.☔️When you get your slow cooker you could make leak and potato soup , also cheap to run and if you are not feeling well just throw everything in with some herbs and veg stock ! 🌺
Another way to save money on heating and cooling is curtains. At 8:30am, here in rural South Australia, it was already 34°c, and expecting 40°+ today. We have thick curtains which helps keep the heat out in summer but the heat in during winter.
Hi, I have Lupus (and Fibromyalgia) and have really suffered over the years with brain fog and fatigue but... I have recently found a that eating more Beef (mince, stewing steak, brisket joints, steaks etc.) has cleared it up! I also take vitamins but although they are important, the B vitamins and vitamin D didn't have much affect. Beef is a good all around healer and it is really... weird... that I feel a lot better just by increasing beef. I just wondered if it would be worth a try? I doubled the portion of meat that I used to have and now have a lot more and it is like a miracle, I have more energy, less muscle and joint pain and less brain fog. I am a hypnotherapist and I also have a diploma in Paleo nutrition, but nothing I had learnt in the past helped my Lupus, until I started eating a lot more beef.
Increasing protein helped me too. I have an allergy to beef (Alpha-gal syndrome) contracted from being bitten by a tick so I can't eat beef. I have chicken breast and beans instead.
I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sean, for nearly two decades many decades ago. During our winters, we could have long spells as you're enduring--lots of rain, mist, and damp. I think, as others have said, that you've undergone a tremendous change in climate, activities, people, locale, etc. When we first accomplish any goal, we're on a huge uplift of feeling which naturally subsides to a descending feeling. Life is all about balance. You're not crazy or permanently brain fogged...just coping with life as we all do. Glad to hear about the oil heaters and the warmth in your home now! And, actually, Sean, this video does have storyline! You!!! I think, too, you exerted yourself quite a bit in December and January to move, and if you have chronic fatigue, you might be "paying the piper." But the move required you to expend that energy! Rest and get well, my friend.
Must recommend you try Grisport boots. Son. Brother and ex all had exmoor shoes as they walked or were on their feet all day. I now have a pair of the leather boots too. Actually 2 of the same design. I have had one pair resoled twice and the other once which shows how good the quality is
Well Sean I think I suffer from chronic fatigue sometimes I put mine down to having had long Covid. I find drinking lot of water first thing in the morning helps and having to eat food that are high in protein, next orange juice with a meal helps your body absorb the goodness of your food I was told this by a wonderful Dr I do miss her. Keep on walking but take it easy when you have aches, your body needs to get use to all those mountain walks. The clean air will soon get to you have a good day.
Sean, How about a shelf under the plugs? A little higher than the work tops, & almost half a drawer short of each worktop? and deep enough for a couple of cups, kettle, teapot, tea caddy, compost caddy & toaster, then put a couple of mug / cup hooks underneath for your cups / mugs - so that when the drawers are fully open they do not touch the mugs? You could try this idea out with a plank across the worktops to see if it works? A wall mounted plate rack / or welsh dresser top - style, over the draining board, (really quick to dry up & put away 😊 ), a wall mounted spice & herb rack - or a shelf with a rail in front to stop the items falling forward? Maybe also an under oven drawer and plinth drawers? - The drawers can be from any kitchen, mine were from upcycled ones, just the right width. Screwfix do all the fitting you could ever need :) You could even have a cabinet for spices / sauces / jars etc and have the calender on the front.
Sean, I have chronic fatigue syndrome and have also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia so this might be something that you could look into. Did you buy the Welsh Cottage ? It’s so lovely.
Tip, if I may. Put some kitchen towel or similar in that basket you are using for your veggies, it will stop them sweating. Also if you want to keep lettuce and mushrooms fresh put a piece of kitchen towel in the box (mushrooms) or bag with the lettuce, it will be crisper and fresher longer. Good luck with your kitchen organisation, I am still doing mine!
Sean I sympathise, I have ADHD and suffer from brain fog a lot. I also have iron deficiency anaemia which makes it worse! It’s really challenging at times!
another thing to check, is the temperature your water is heating to - you may be able to reduce the temperature and save on whatever method is used to heat water. Could you put a shelf on that end wall, just on top of the tiles, for the toaster, cake tin etc? That would be close enough to the plugs, and would get them off the counter.
Apart from 'always check with dr', I rely on a morning swim outside, picked up by friend. Fresh air, exercise helps me to settle later and concentration isnt good atm. Cfs i have diagnosis but frustratingly could be hormones, but isnt really delved into beyond a few checks. Ive tried homeopathy, acupuncture (particarly prescribed chinese herbs). Swimming took over. B vitamins speeded me up recently after recovery from fracture. Be wary of un lifeguarded swims, as i did the training! Yes, indoors is too dark and air less good. I sit and work in greenhouse. Working outdoors sitting would give me energy.
People dont realize how CFS and other invisible illnesses include so many more symptoms than just "I'm tired". Spoon theory is great, but some activities take a month's worth of spoons. I told the doctor the affect on my cognitive functioning is the worst bit. I'd rather have that back than be able to walk without my walker! ❤
Hi Sean. Further to my previous comments concerning energy use I'm well pleased to see that you now have the same heater (not oil) as my own. Key to it's use to save energy is to set it on the top knob to setting 3, switch on the fan and then adjust the lower thermostat knob so that it cuts off at say 20C. After settling down it will turn on again at about 18C and continue to cycle between these temperature. Buy a cheap thermometer to confirm these temperatures and locate it near where you sit. The heater will use about 2.4kW but, and this is key, with these settings it will turn on for about 2/3 minutes then off for about 18/19 minutes. The electricity usage will therefore be very minimal. The problem with electric spot heaters is that people run them at full whack and then wonder why they are too hot or have huge bills. Remember to turn it off before you turn in to your warmed bed with electric blanket. Due to the fan it will warm your room as it does my snug very quickly. By the way, Tom Watson is a bit toxic. Give the carnivore diet a try. I lost 6kg in 2 months. Good Luck!
I got some heat mats & those "disco" spectrum grow lights over Winter off the ebay for a bargain, It's the first time I've ever used something like this to start my seeds off & what an eye-opener, The tomato, cucumber & bell pepper seeds have really taken off & germinated very well.
I really like the two videos I've seen on your channel so far. (New sub, first time commenter) Here is something I'd like to share with you. Plastic is not the best for steaming or cooking food in. It releases plastic particles into the food. I invested in a stainless-steel steamer which will outlast me, also because I am a vegetarian and eat lots of veg. Thank you for this channel. I too love cats. Mine is a black cat who is 16 and very sweet. I hope you feel better soon. Best Wishes from Washington state, USA
I have java too , as well as pink fir apple and Red Duke of York to grow this year ... also slow cookers are great. I make amazing stews and lentil hot pots in mine 😋
The setup you have for your seedlings is exactly the same as mine, and with the bottom heat I was amazed at how quickly the seeds germinated - in most cases in 2 or 3 days. The only problem is that once they have germinated they grow very quickly and you then need other freestanding grow lights since you should not keep the cover on after germination. Also, you may want to use the propagator for more seeds. My first lot of seeds - broccoli and beetroot - are now in a cold frame; the second lot - tomatoes and turnips and cucumber are now under the freestanding lights, and the third lot, peppers and basil, went in the propagator yesterday. Fortunately freestanding lights are quite cheap to buy.
Sean i had those oil heaters when we moved to Tasmania, the most expensive heat system i have used, i then purchased some electric panels cheaper but since moving to new home heat pump central heating/cooling most cheapest I’ve ever used.
Since long COVID in 2021 I get the brain fog, in the middle of a task and my mind goes blank. When I was really ill from it I was sure that I had early onset dementia it was that bad. This week I have had a wheezy chest and fatigue so I phoned the Dr and then spent most of yesterday in A&E. Had chest x-ray, ECG and a CT scan. Think the original Dr thought I was having a heart attack. People complain about the NHS but yesterday they were absolutely fabulous.
Are the cupboards under the work top big enough to put all the appliances into? I only get one thing out at a time tne. Or a couple of shev3s uner the stairs to keep electrical things in
I am glad you have reduced your gas consumption. Give it a few more days for the update, It's good that you have a plan to be more aware of the outrageous costs. You appear to be managing it much more effectively - bravo. Love the badge of a ginger cat, looks like a welsh bagpuss.
Hello Sean. Your bill for a small house seems very high. Am I right in thinking that it was for gas and electricity. Using electric heaters such as the fan heater you showed in an earlier vlog will be far more expensive than gas and the whole house isn't being heated. It will be interesting to see whether your electric oil heaters are more efficient. I assume they have thermostats?
I'm afraid to say there's more to it than simply stating that electric heaters are more expensive to use. See my comment above for proper use. Hope it helps as I'm a retired electrical engineer and am measuring real time data on my own energy use.
I really recommend a dehumidifier for drying clothes and keeping damp at bay. They use very little electric as they are not producing heat. I use a Lakeland heated airer with the dehumidifier tucked under the cover.

Did the same. Electric throws and blankets are really cheap to run ;-)
Totally agree with the heated throw. I have 2 electric in case one's in the wash. Also bought a 12V for when I'm out of electricity.
Hi Sean, I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome too. It is very difficult to know how much you can get away with doing without making it worse.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Morning Sean, I’ve not been using ‘social media’ for best part of a year. Too be perfectly honest, chiefly because I find it grinds me down and depresses me. However, I have missed your fabulous Welsh lilt, and pleasant and measured observations on life, so I’m back. Some people call it a sounding board, but as in the real world, you enjoy the company of like minded. Keep up the great work 👍🏻🇬🇧
Social media can be addictive and a nuisance in equal measure. Personally, I try to limit my time in the ether but we all like being sociable.
I am trying to limit and curate my time. I find Sean's channel relaxing. There are some gems mixed in the chaos.
You have a calendar on the kitchen wall. If you cross off the day each nit, you will always know what day it is. Just a thought.
What is taurin? I vitamin?
As someone mentioned before you need a dehumidifier. We bought a small inexpensive o e from Aldi and it has been great. Your washing will dry faster and you will avoid mould issues.
I love the Rusty pin 🧷 🐈
Try some B vitamins for the fatigue Sean, might help a bit. I keep my slow cooker in a cupboard and just bring it out when I need it, also my steamer.
17:33 I wouldn’t use plastic for steaming food.
Extra open shelves on your back wall should work wonders for a bit of extra space
Hope you feel better soon. We’re all cheering you on.
Thank you, Sean. I take B12 for Psoariatic Rheumatoid Arthritis and it has helped a great deal!
You can have vitamin B12 injections. Ask your doctor about them. My sister in.law is on them. She suffers with the same kind of illness. The tablets have nowhere near as, a good affect as the injections. Dont let the doctors fob you off. Wishing you all the best.
Yes rest is best when that fatigue happens
Stay strong ❤
Fasting, OMAD, no sugar or carbs, and all plant based diet. Plus lots of exercise.
Some of that discombobulation could be your Chronic fatigue Syndrome. Stay strong your doing great. I am an RN for 40 years.Great Videos
I’m 67 I remember when shops closed Thursday afternoon and most shops on Sundays not anymore everyday the same for retail workers I’m in north London best wishes to you new to the channel enjoying it a lot
If I’m not mistaken, the last time you had brain fog and your fatigue, you went off sweets and on a low carb diet and you started feeling better
Doesn't take much to throw things off balance.
thank you for mentioning this. I often forget I need to drink more (water, tea, a.a.).
Greetings from tropical Queensland. I watch your videos with wonder at how you manage the rain and the cold. Best wishes for sunny days ahead.
I am on the Gold Coast, just checked my pantry, and still have my tin of Nerada tea, which I bought a couple of years ago, from there, does tea go off?
I love the Nevada chai tea, pink box. So sad to see them go. 😮
We tend to have better weather earlier in the Summer, this wet weather sets in around the end of July and except for some cold spells, continues right through. I am more concerned by the lack of quality daylight hours this Winter, February normally sees improvement, but it is grey and waterlogged.
Nothing better than a mug of hot Typhoo with a HobNob & it's pissing it here in Somerset.
@@LibbySlaughter101 well Libby.....a HobNob (no 'K', just "Nob') are a delightful wee, rather saucy, buttery oat biscuit that comes comes in a few variants. They're perfect for dunking in me Typhoo. Weather in many parts of Oz is rather dire from what I've gathered. Me godmother in Melbourne sent me a video of an horrendous storm that cained it down over her neighbourhood. I was brought up in Melbourne, Australia as a kiddy but relocated back to Yé Oldé Blighty. Please excuse me ignorance but I haven't the foggiest on what a "Popover" is. A northern delicacy, perhaps?!?! Crumpets, obviously. Muffins......Ooo'err Mrs 😜
Rusty looks great on your jumper, he'll always be with you
You have the same name as my late grandfather, Frankie Bye. I wonder whether we're related! 😊
Just to say you can save more energy on your boiler by turning down the flow temp on your boiler for hot water to between 55c - 60c degrees.
Love the little ginger cat on the sweater, a good memory indeed of Rusty. Check if that pocket camera has batteries that are dieing.
Love that rusty badge Sean one of my cats is a big ginger cat ❤
Heated throws are about 2p an hour to run if you are trying to keep your bills down Sean. Same with heated blankets for your bed.
What a great idea!
Genius hack 👍
Sean, the brain fog is a bummer. I cross the days off on my calendar every day otherwise I don't know if I'm coming or going. I also write as much as I can on said calendar eg which town has half day closing and when. I do hope that this horrible phase of ME goes away soon.
BTW you did very well on the video, much better than you maybe thought 🥰😍🤩
Yes, that's like what I do with the calendar too
Over two years ago I had a lot of the body symptoms you describe.

Hi Sean,
Just a couple of suggestions for kitchen storage.
Congratulations on the growth of your channel Sean since you moved to Wales, seems like the move gave your content a real shot in the arm!
I like the idea of renting land but at the allotment you meet people.
Yes that is the dilemma.
Take things easy Sean..because there’s always tomorrow matey! 👍👍
Yes! Setting electric spot heaters correctly is key to cheap operation. See my comment above. Cheers!
Old movie How Green Was .My Valley 1941 on our TV tonight about your valley. Very deep emotions there.
It snowed here yesterday. I'm living vicariously through garden shows...and a off tea and maye a slice of cake.
I see you like Yorkshire tea bags. My favourite too. Great minds think alike. (Miss Marple).
A motorbike would be perfect for you Sean and not too expensive to run.
You could use shelving and put a wall mounted drainer up this would give you more space whilst keeping things to hand
You need a block plug for three to four and six and just a work top in the middle gap between the units
Sarpo mira is the best potato I've ever grown,I found they tasted really good, and show slug resistance too, this year I'm growing kestrel as well.
Sean,
How about a shelf under the plugs?
Screwfix do all the fitting you could ever need :)
You could even have a cabinet for spices / sauces / jars etc and have the calender on the front.
Pretty much the same weather here in Devon, Sean.
Nothing in Bridgend town centre now really. Nowhere good to get a pair of trousers anyway. 😂
Sean, I have chronic fatigue syndrome and have also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia so this might be something that you could look into. Did you buy the Welsh Cottage ? It’s so lovely.
Sometimes I let the washing hang & get a rainwater rinse. It'll just take longer to dry.
I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, "fibro fog" is very common. I do the same as you did in this video.
Morning 👍
another thing to check, is the temperature your water is heating to - you may be able to reduce the temperature and save on whatever method is used to heat water.
I live in a rural area like yours without a car. Im nearing 70 and it no longer works for me. Looking to move next year.
I think the 172 goes from Aberdare to Bridgend via Gelli Galed Road.
I have java too , as well as pink fir apple and Red Duke of York to grow this year ... also slow cookers are great. I make amazing stews and lentil hot pots in mine 😋
Hi Sean, having just downsized to a much smaller kitchen as well, may I suggest installing some floating shelves? Just a thought.😊
We also invested in a dehumidifier recently, and it's fabulous fir when you have to dry washing inside. And you can really feel the difference 👍
Talbot green would be a decent bet (matalan, peacocks, George at Asda, Tesco, tk maxx, next etc) and presumably there's a bus down to there.
i only heat room i am mainly staying in but not whole house, close doors of course
Or a couple of shev3s uner the stairs to keep electrical things in
Looks like you need a couple of extension leads, one on each plug and put them on the wall using those command strips that don’t damage the wall
I might be cursing myself here but the weather in Brum is steadily warming - but always with a suspicion of rain. Look after yourself fella ;)
