    This one was a bit hard to understand, but I'm guessing he takes the drawings off the peg board so that he can overlay each head on top of the last to maintain the proportions throughout the animation, and he uses the peg holes to somehow know where on the page he should draw that in-between? I don't quite understand how he figures out that last part if so, but he did say it's easier to see with a lightbox.

      Isn't it called Shift&Trace?

      Animator here - We call it un-pegging in the west. We basically align the peg holes, with the IB page in on top and between the two key-frame holes. Then using a light box we simply draw all the IB lines based on the key-frame lines. However in a turn-around or a head turn an IB artist must take into consideration facial proportions and the perspective angle of the head. One must remember that we're in-betweening the motion of a semi-spherical object with proper volume and not just squiggly lines that morphs from one key drawing to key drawing.
      In the last one he explains that the IB drawing should not be the straight in-between the key drawings but must be placed in an arc to the motion of the char. body and head.

    I've never heard it called Tap Wari. but animators in the U.S do this. at least the ones at my college did. we didn't have a name for it.

      Shift & Trace, isn't it?

      My guess, many animators around the world have been doing that, but they haven't thought of this as a special technique with it's own name.
      I'm Russian, and I'm using this technique too.

      I've always called that "inbetweening off the peg" !
      Learned from a disney/dreaworks animator so that's a legit enough name I guess

    Hiya! These videos are awesome but it would be nice for those who are learning Japanese (as well as animation) if we could have subtitles in the original language ^^. There are usually nuances missed in translation after-all :D Thanks!!

    btw can you make a vid about how to connect the head with the body?

    I still have yet to know what kind of pencil they use XD

    • @Lydomina
      @Lydomina 7 років тому +1

      It's a clutch pencil, some manufacturers call it a lead holder as well. theirs is a 2.0mm clutch pencil, but they also come in 5.6mm.

    原画に中目パチの指示がないのに、瞬きさせちゃダメでしょ。俺が作監、総作監だったら、余計なことしないでってなる。

      今確認のために自分で目線を左右に振ってみたんですが、実際無意識に瞬きしてたのでひのえさんの言ってる事は正しい気がします

      申し訳ないが、そう言う話じゃないんですよ。
      原画の指示にない事を動画がやるのは越権行為なんです。まともな原画マンや作画監督は必要であれば必ず指示を入れます。可能な限り動画マンに創造的余地を残さないようにするのです。
