- Best viewed in 60 fps. I'm player 1 and Mark is player 2. There are fade-outs on two stages where continues were used. A continue was also used at the start of stage 5. This game slows down quite a bit in 2 player mode.

Played contra 3 in 92....last week got contra anniversary and played it with my kids...what a moment and what a game

Too bad on the canon storyline after this game.. Lance dissapears and you keep going on just to know that the aliens where good and wanted to retrieve their stolen crystal and the goberment told you to destroy them because they wanna destroy the world.... A FKING LIE.
At least until Contra 4, when Black Viper returns!

I like how they tweaked the alien brain's armor phase so it looks like it's actually climbing instead of flailing its arms and flying upward

Fun Fact: the pose that Sully (Player 2) makes in the end, is actually Jimbo's (Player 1) pose in the end of the original SNES of Contra lll.

Its about time someone does a two player mode of this game! I myself actually asked NintendoComplete if he would do a two player longplay of this game because he already did a longplay solo. He told me he didn't have anyone else to do it and that it would be too complicated for him to set up. Here you are to prove him wrong!
I don't think it's too complicated to set up, but he might not have known about mGBA, which I consider a lot easier to use for GBA link, compared to something like Visual Boy Advance. As for not having anyone to play it with, that's very understandable. I believe if you couldn't play the game locally with someone, the program "Parsec" could be used to play this over the internet, but I don't consider that to be the best way to play it.

Yeah it's *notoriously* known for its trash sound. Konami really dropped the ball.on this one.
Using the contra hardcorp stages to replace the overhead ones to compensate was a welcome surprise

@@arronmunroe :( The flamethrower is so broken and overpowered in the original Gameboy version. It literally cuts through every boss in 2 seconds. Except the first.

There are many changes in the GBA version from the SNES/GB version.
1. Stage 2 is not situated in the highway, it was situated on a train instead due to GBA's graphical limitations thus Stage 4 is omitted.
2. Players cannot hold 2 weapons thus you can't use weapons simultaneously due to button limitations of the GBA unlike the SNES version.

I could see the visible slow down on stage 1, in areas where the SNES could handle without slowdown. I thought the GB advance was more advanced than the SNES and it had lower resolution. s the slowdown coming from the GB Advance link data transfer?
It could just be that this isn't a high quality port, so it slows down more easily than it should. I personally don't think the link cable has anything to do with it, but I can't easily test this, because even though I think that both players shooting makes it slow down, the link cable needs to be used to get the second player.
I feel lucky to have played this game on the original console with its cartridge.

You can do it with the emulator mGBA.
When you know the great Contra 3 - The Alien Wars: This game here is a poor version of it - because it's massive cropped and there are no topdown-levels (I like them!) - instead, there are levels from Contra - Hard Corps (Also a great game!)

@@PixyDS the GBA is an even more advanced system than the SNES, a 1:1 port would have been possible.
@@PixyDS they could have done better. A zoomed in perspective instead of new arranged sprites and the deleted weapon select is a sign of lazy porting...

While you're right,as i said the gba doesn't have mode 7 but really,i personally think that the graphics are kind of meh since it looks like the gba is good at making bright graphics,if you look at metroid fusion for the gba and super for the snes you can see a *bright* difference

I haven't played through the entire Sonic Genesis, but from what I remember about it, I would say this game is better. While definitely not nearly as good as the original SNES Contra 3, I still consider the game to be playable enough.
Get them boys! Remind them this is America! Then again it might be Japan?
