@@LifeOfPippa that's exactly the takeaway I had from watching your video. ☺️ I showed Hubby, too - we are in that "talk through all of the possibilities" stage. Think he fell in love at first sight when he saw Ruby. 😀
Aww! I share a name with your sweet puppy!😊 2 years ago I got my own dog. When I was little I had a chihuahua because I got seizures, so we needed a dog to be able alert my parents in case of an emergency. I started to really miss her when I got sick. So my parents got me a mini dachshund for my birthday. I named her Maple, because she is the color of a maple donut (and long like one). Like your puppy she comes and lays by me throughout the day and sleeps with me a night. Funny thing is that I’m gluten free and we found out Maple can’t have dog food with gluten in it so she’s perfect for me.😂 Maple also gets really overwhelmed usually around lots of people. I usually just cuddle her and reassure her everything is all right. She is like a baby and loves affection and attention. Puppies are so much work especially with chronic illness. My family cares for Maple because I’m not able. It gets easier as they get a bit older. Its totally worth it because you get a sweet little friend to keep you company.🥰
This was so lovely to read, thank you for sharing! Clearly all the best beings are named Ruby! Maple sounds like such a special dog, she must be adorable 🥹🐶
Gorgeous! 'So sweet. Glad she knows security feels safe and loved. It is so humbling the way dogs can still love and get over being mistreated. I am busy vicariously stealing other peoples' dogs online, as my life goes something like... 1) Sees dog 2) Wants dog 3) Knows would be good dog mum 4) Accepts ME and health means I am not well enough to have a dog. Plus 5) Can't afford a dog (vet bills are crazy and cat is costing me a small fortune ) 6) Knows cat would not tolerate a dog and yet 1) sees Dog (Repeat)
That list was the story of my life for many years, you have my empathy! Feel free to vicariously live through anything you find online here! She wasn't mistreated (it was an unfortunate accident before she came to us) but I'm so glad she's starting to feel less anxious - us ME-folk know all too well the trouble that an overactive immune system can have 🙈🐶
I don't want to share too much about her injuries as they happened before she came home to us and were an unfortunate accident in an otherwise really loving household, but the vet thinks the fur loss near her eyes and nose could be from an underlying skin condition called puppy strangles!
She's so sweet. I'm sure she will continue to bring you and your family extra love, comfort and joy! And I hope she keeps on healing well xxx
Thank you Rebeccah, fingers crossed! 🐶❤
Aw, it's so special to see Ruby in her early days and how you're feeling about things, after all that planning and trouble-shooting. ❤
Thank you so much, really hard work but totally worth it 🥹💜
