In order to show my students how things are made in my Manufacturing class, I have started to reverse engineer how simple games are made so that they can make them too.
How does one decide which side of the vacuum-formed product is the side you want to use? I would have thought that the side that contacts the mold is the side you want to use. It seems that's the only side you can guarantee to be the proper dimensions. If I am correct, then you would have needed to make your mold concave, correct? And that means pouring the Alumalite on the other side and thus having a concave mold. But of course that presents its own challenges due to the tall, thin walls between each recess, but that is all part of the challenge, no?
Make the mould out of hydrocal plaster urethane casting resin is not good to vacuum form over its hard to eject the part off and the mould dosent last cheers :)
Hello! I'm loving your videos. I just got a 48 x 48 industrial vacuum former, and I've been CNC routing my blanks out of MDF. I've been looking for a plastic like you used for the mold. Would you mind telling me what it's called? I love how fast it sets. Thanks! :)
late reply, but i imagine that it would be no problem, however you would have to drill out the holes, obviously. for the regular guy's rig you should be able to vac form about anything that doesn't have too much complexity or undercuts in which case you'd want to use a plastic injection machine and that's really only practical for mass-production manufacturing. the jason masks you buy off the shelf will be injection molded. :)
You did a nice job replicating the game part but I'd encourage kids to design their own games rather than reverse engineer (which is often a criminal procedure with Copyright Protected commercial goods) and potentially illegally copy someone else's product. This is a good Demo on how easily you can turn your own design into a Product.
Hi. What kind of liquid plastic did you use to make the mold? Thank you
thank you, I like this project
That is really cool...
Can you make Christmas decorations, similar to the blow molded kind with this? Ones that can have a light put into it?
interesting, thanks!
Have you ever vacuum formed over a concrete mold with an industrial vacuum forming machine?
Do you advise me The best material and low price for making mold vacum forming ?
Very nice. What temp does the epoxy rise to ?
How large are the holes to be drilled through the mold?
use talc on your bucks and in your molds. you can also use air to separate the plastic and original
good idea, Thanks
Does this stuff leave a finish good enough for molding clear acrylic and it still have a nice surface on the inside?
The finish is only going to be as good as the master you form over.
was researching vacuum forming and heard a familiar voice
Whats the thickest you can form?

What is the name of the product you used to make the mold from and where can I purchase it at?

+TheMrByrom Hi. Can you mold 1/10 rc car body shell with this machines using 0.030 or 0.020 lexan sheet? Thanks
+Stephen Lynch Thanks Stephen,, nice video,, I had the same question about material name. Alumilite Thanks
I'm wanting to do recasts of Jason hockey masks, would the same process work?

Hello grate video but what is the name of the liquid that you used to make the mold
does the plastic stick to the mould making it hard to remove the mould?
It is not hard to remove due to plastic sticking, it is hard to remove because it creates a vacuum when removing the part until air can get in.
Totally cool!
What vacum machine u using?
them by romantic
can you send me the name of the company that you got your vacuum forming machine, thank you
iasco-tesco.com
You sorta skipped over the casting agent you were using. Alumalite makes several products...Alumalite-WHAT?
Alumires RC-3 Tan
What is the name of plastic
did you make the vacuum former yourself ?
oop needed to wait to the end to hear ......my bad....
Looks like your vacuum forming machine was made according to the Hobby-vac from build-stuff.com.
Thickness of PetG?
супер! как игра называется?

Vacuum forming sucks
Tell that to ILM, Legacy FX and prop makers everywhere.
@@madcowrebel4216 did you miss the joke?
@@opts9 yeah i think he did bro
You do know it's illegal to copy and sell someone else's "copyright" product... 🤦🏻♂️
Ricky Tang I am just using this as a teaching tool. I have not sold any of these for personal gain.
why dont you just punch a coupld of small holes in the original and use it as your master....
