The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, commonly referred to as 'Evo',[1] is a sports sedan based on the Lancer that was manufactured by Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors from 1992 until 2016. There have been ten official versions to date, and the designation of each model is most commonly a Roman numeral. All use two litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engines and all-wheel drive systems.[2]
The Evolution was originally intended only for Japanese markets, but demand on the "grey import" market led the Evolution series to be offered through Ralliart dealer networks in the United Kingdom and in various European markets from around 1998. Mitsubishi decided to export the eighth generation Evolution to the United States in 2003 after witnessing the success Subaru had in that market with their long-time direct rival, the Subaru Impreza WRX STi.[3]
Japanese-spec[citation needed] versions of all Evos until the release of the Evo IX in 2005 were limited by a gentlemen's agreement to advertise no more than 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp). However, sources say Mitsubishi had already been producing cars with more power but had been underrating the official power outputs in order to be in compliance with the agreement.[4] Therefore, each subsequent version has unofficially evolved above the advertised power figures, with the Japanese-spec Evolution IX reaching an alleged output of around 321 PS (236 kW; 317 hp). Various versions available in other markets, particularly the UK, have official power outputs up to 446 PS (328 kW; 440 hp).
The tenth and final generation of the Lancer Evolution (Evo X) was launched in Japan in 2007, and overseas markets in 2008. The Evo X was produced for almost 10 years until it retired in April 2016.
In 2001, Mitsubishi was forced by the FIA to run in the WRC using WRC rules for building a car instead of the Group A class rules, and thus did not need to follow homologation rules. The Evolution VII was based on the larger Lancer Cedia platform and as a result gained more weight over the Evolution VI, but Mitsubishi made up for this with multiple important chassis tweaks. The biggest change was the addition of an active center differential and a more effective limited-slip differential, while a front helical limited-slip differential was added. Torque was increased again to 385 N⋅m (284 lb⋅ft) with engine tweaks that allowed greater airflow, and horsepower officially remained at 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp).
The introduction of the Evolution VII also marked the first time an automatic drivetrain was included within the model lineup-the GT-A. Nicknamed the 'grand theft auto' version of the visually similar VII GSR and the RS2, the GT-A model was only produced in 2002 and had the following distinguishing interior and exterior specification: GT-A-only diamond cut finish 17-inch (431.8 mm) alloy wheels, clear rear light lenses and all-in-one style front headlights (later used on the Evolution VIII). The GT-A had the option of either no spoiler, the short spoiler (as per the Lancer Cedia; and later used on the Evolution VIII 260) or the thunder spoiler as used on the standard Evolution VII models. The most distinguishing feature was a smooth bonnet with no air-grills on it at all and the revised front bumper. Although offering inferior cooling capabilities, the bonnet was designed to give a cleaner line through the air with less air resistance at motorway speeds.
Interior could be specified with factory options of a deluxe velour interior, full leather or the Recaro sports seats. The GT-A interior was different in that it had chromed door handles, a different instrument panel (to show the gear selection) and chrome edged bezels around the speedo and tach. The GT-A also had additional sound deadening installed from the factory and the engine manifold and downpipe had been engineered to be quieter.

Very good suspension that gets better the faster you drive it.
I’d say it’s the end blades of the spoiler that need swapped From Side to side so the smaller end is at the front and the bigger side at the rear of car?

The Evo X ended in 2015.
It gets a bit of stick for being a bit heavy but the car itself is still very capable.
4B11T can take a lot of power, shame we never saw an Evo XI.
I like precise placement of a car, the normal driving height is great for that especially if the car is centered around a sporty driving experience.

Failing that a Norris designs 2 door converted evo Vlll will do..
Knew it was another Harlow special before I even watched the video. RE gearboxes 6 speeds are weak 5 speeds are fairly strong, it’s the same casing with more gearing so they get toasty

Checker Plate floors were EXTREMELY popular here in Australia during the Auto Salon/Sex Spec Era, which was at the same time as the Max Power Age for you guys.
Lots of similarities between the styles but with their own unique differences
I used to read imported Max Power alongside my Hot 4's and Fast Fours magazines amongst many others.

I had an evo 1 and an evo 2 and they are incredible cars. Super lightweight and real drivers cars. Wish I’d never sold them - worth a fortune now and rare as rocking horse sh1te
Need those cams lol sounds lovely. Do love the earlier Evo's and would have a few if i could afford it lol but i went for an 8 as i literally use it every day. Doing road trips etc the inside is a lot nicer place to be. Plus mine came with the half leather/alcantara Recaro seats which are nice as well.
Evo 5 for me but I'm biased as I have mine parked up in my garage. Evo 5 and 6 have the nostalgic classic rally look especially the 5 with the fogs as has the p1 impreza both icons of the 90s rally scene. The raw feeling you get is unmatched in most cars especially with for like power.
Evo IX is my favorite for sure, it has the best 4g63 iteration, and the best AWD system for a 4g63 chassis. Also, I’m not just saying that because I own an IX lol. But the best looking is the VI IMO

Those cams bring it to live,especially when ripping on it, my favorites would be evo 3, evo 6tme and evo 9,all in red, ah man would like to take a rip on tsukuba one day, it was my favorite testing track on grand turismo, turning 35 in august and i played all of them except for gt sport. Whomever detailed it needs to go back and clean up the little buffer trails down the pillar or quarter panel.
You can't see it but in different sunlight reflections you can spot them.

Evo 6 or 7, mate! They just have the perfect synergy between subtle edgy patterns, combined with soft and futuristic lines, without being sterile! One of the best ninja saloons ever!

Should look into a bigger turbo the hks gt2 7460 kai runs out of steam around the 400hp@wheels mark still responsive for the age of its technology tho An Australian turbo is leading the market atm a Intense turbo 5656r would allow you to Spool just as hard bring up more topend an good for the Stock block 8/9 evos max hp capacity around the 500 to 530hp@wheels mark i personally running the IT5353 in my GTA 9 Wagon just has 3.5" Atrec dump an front pipe an custom 3.5" exhaust rest is stock an she spools up insanely fast 310awhp on pump 98 stock injectors only reason such low power is waiting for my built gearbox to come than aiming for full flex have ID1700cc kelford 262/264 cams , walbro 350lph, 3.5" metal intake speed density setup an a link g4+ with all the minor ads i need hopefully 420awhp (auto)

Just never did it for me to be honest, even the FQ variants. Such a shame Mitsubishi stopped making the Evo. I believe they made a mistake. It is missed for sure ☹️
