- adyashanti.org - In this instructive talk, Adyashanti outlines two fundamental orientations of spiritual practice: goal-oriented and life-oriented. He describes the benefits of each and suggests potential questions you can explore to assist you in becoming profoundly present and awake in your life.

Quotes from this Video:
“To have an orientation is not the same thing as chasing a future goal.”
“Anybody that's really going to achieve much in life is going to generally have an orientation, something that gathers all of their psychic forces and orients them in a given direction.”
“The fundamental limitation of aiming for a goal is that it keeps your attention outside of what's happening now.”
“When you're always oriented towards the future, what is the present going to look like?”
“What could be more valuable to you than your life, than the allotted span of time that you have here on this planet to do whatever you're going to do?”
If there’s a spiritual teacher as down to earth and truly practical, as well as profound, as Adya. I’ve yet to find them. Every statement he makes is such a gem of wisdom.
Michael Taft, Shinzen Young, Rupert Spira
They say "the path is the goal" and this allows you to reconcile both mind made understandings of spiritual practice.
oh snap
It's been a very very very long time since I've heard you speak, Adya.
I was so caught up in the rush of seeking and recreate powerful shifts in my consciousness.
Eventually, I got so sick and tired of spirituality this and Spirituality that. That I started hating everything and was completely turned off from talking to anyone about spirituality and enlightenment.
Honestly, I'm still indifferent about others continuingly seeking and recreating their experience.
Yet, today. I find myself asking "what is this is all for?" and "to what end am I doing anything?"
Especially, asking myself "What am I really doing and am I really spiritually practicing anything?!"
I guess, this is my way of acknowledging this particular video you did today.
It's been quite a few years since I digested or conversed about anything in terms of Spirituality.
My guess, it's almost been a decade or more since I stepped back into any kind of spiritual community or discussion.
Anyways, I hope you have a great day, Adya.
As for me, I will continue doing my own thing and figure out how I will move on and reconcile with this one aspect of myself.
Because, I'm ready to move on. Pls continue on with the good work that you do.
The honest revelation is felt in your comment, which made my heart happy. It is kind of interesting how sincerity can create the feeling of connection and relativity.
Maybe the time of deepening and embodying who you truly are (instead of seeking spirituality somewhere else in time) has now come for you.
Take care and keep looking from the true place. Much blessings to you! :)
I need to call Adya again sometime on one of his live broadcasts. One thing that I keep struggling with is Nostalgia and the longing for other time periods. What should my relationship be with Nostalgia? It’s sort of a bittersweet drug that haunts me often. A longing for the ‘90s for example.
Oh, I so hear you.
I am really disgusted with the digital age. I mean to the point of not wanting to be here. I long so deep for ages past.
@@Mika-El- Completely agree
Yes, I hear you too. I get profound longing for a life I lived in my home country and everything I knew, but that really stops me from living in this moment🙏
I find these verbal teachings to be very future and goal oriented. I would like to suggest a paraphrase of what I read yesterday in your teaching The Doorway of I Am: "The essence of any good spiritual practice is to focus on direct experience rather than on what we think about the experience." I would change one word in this to open up a whole new dimension: change the word practice to teaching: The essence of any good spiritual teaching is to focus on direct experience rather than what we think about the experience. As one who can attest to the power of spiritual transmission in her history I would like to suggest the current crop of teachers are either not able or are afraid to share fully in their direct experience. Words are cheap I'm afraid and I expect this iconoclastic stance will offend many. I don't care anymore. Just want to be truthful!
Since the creative masculine part is with us as Spirit also, I think the "now" also includes true thought and visions of a sort of future, yet not bound by ego-time.
A sort of divine paradox.
Can you please elaborate a bit, it seems I am confused, what does you mean exactly, even if it's going to hurt I wants to hear the truth which you are trying to convey but unfortunately I am unable to understand at this moment.
Thank you. What a gift. I am very grateful for this video. So deep. As always.
The goal should be freedom here and now but that's not where it ends there is always more growth and deepning as long as we exist as physical forms.
Which will always happen here and now.
Your right which is happening here and now in the ever present, not will.
Thank you
Thanks Adya.

i was hanging on that final statement “and now” for a good 7 seconds thinking it was the beginning of another point 😂. got
Coming in loud and clear champ
Thank you for sharing 😘❤🙏
How do I have no goal? The big question.
I want enlightenment / awakening which is funny because I don’t even know what that is outside freedom from suffering.
So I’ve used Ramana’s self inquiry practice.
“Who wants enlightenment?”
“Who wants to be free of suffering?”
Of course no one is there. It’s just thoughts that want freedom, “i” am already free all the time.
My orientation is the practice of 12 steps and the principles embodied in them.
My orientation is turning towards awareness often rather than identifying with the content of the mind, although identifying with the mind happens often.
It’s a real trip. I often wish I’d never heard of non duality and or the word enlightenment.
The ego grabbed it and weaponized the shit out of it and uses it to abuse and has caused incredible trouble.
This is where faith mind comes in I guess.
I have faith all is fundamentally well and Adya has mentioned “no one gets left behind” so that’s comforting. ❤
Hi dear, what incredible trouble does it caused, your answer might help to avoid unnecessary trouble, if possible please share.
@@DilbagSingh-sp2yp I have no trouble friend.
All is well ❤️
@@youarewhatyourelookingfor4496 hey that's good really , love that song by Bob Marley "we don't need no more troubles" Dear, me too has been touched by 12 steps long ago, they are really great, really got in a serious relationship with substances but eventually learned the lessons.
