Suggestion - instead of having to manually sync audio with slates, you could use timecode. Then you can automate the process. This of course assumes you have a timecode capable camera. On the audio side, even cheap midrange zoom recorders have timecode that can be referenced to the camera. This would save a huge amount of time.

I think you marked the wrong clap that's why the clip appears off sync, but we get the idea. Thank you for sharing.

Yeah you right :D If we need to find a Mark IN point then that is not AutoSync :D its manual sync

This is a good video. Thank you.
It feels like you are doubling handling your footage a little though. Perhaps you could open the clip, set the in-point and then create the sub-clip by dragging to the bin. Now when you autosync you still chose sync to inpoint but avid says that one or more of your clips have no inpoint set. Dont worry about this and click ok and your new synchronised subclip will appear in the bin.....
Also you would choose the outpoint function if your footage has an endboard instead of the clapper at the start.

Dude come on man you gotta toggle source for the audio to see the waveform so you can quickly see the peak where it CLAPS, then mark it -- WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!! if you are going to do a tutorial..... forget it.

Are you refering to audio if its placed in a sequence? Not sure where else you can preview audio waveforms in MC. Please explain.

I was going to comment that Avid can't be that dumb and be an industry leader at the same time 😀 Come on! Even the most mundane NLE has an audio waveform to help you 'see' the sound. Thanks for pointing that out.

You're basically eyeballing your audio clap point, I don't know how you do it without any waveform or any precise landmarks. And you know what, you don't do it : this clip is not synced at all (funny though)...

I'd guess that you've never cut actual film. Syncing by ear works fine--you roll the mag film back and forth in the sync block and mark the "clap" with a Sharpie. Then, you mark the frame when the sticks hit on the picture roll with an "X" in grease pencil and line up both marks in the sync block. It works fine. It should work equally fine on the Avid.
