I saw that you are worried about being stung on the face through your suit. I was taught to put on my cap underneath my head vale so that the peak of my cap at the front pushes the screening away from my face so that if a bee happens to want to sting you through the face vale the peak of your cap is pushing the vale away from your face which should hopefully stop that from happening. So far (touch wood) I haven’t had a sting on the face using the cap. I know an another elderly gentleman who has been just learning in the past 2 months was stung on his cheek through his vale so I told him to put the cap underneath on his head before putting down his vale and he hasn’t been stung again on the face. Hope this helps you. Cheers Theresa - Australia

Would you not want to anchor the hive down incase you get high wind ?

We keep half a paver on it to keep it steady. The hive itself is super heavy so it’s fine. We’ve had really strong winds this week and it hasn’t moved at all.
