Yep, I'm old school left and I've found a lot of online groups so toxic and into one upmanship as to who is more aware and who cares more or who is more informed of some radical postmodern reading of something. Just the other day I was talking with someone and my sister about books and movies, and Harry Potter was mentioned, then my sister said "it's such a shame that JK Rowling is a hateful transphobic". I said "she isn't actually that bad". Then the other person we were with asked about it, and I told them that the comment that made everyone called her "transphobic" wasn't hateful, she was just saying that we need to protect spaces for biological women, and that it just really blew out. I’m currently re-reading the Harry Potter series rn (almost done with book 5) it’s such a wonderful piece of literature that you can never forget. I appreciate J.K. Rowling for her intelligence and her ability to stand up for women’s rights and safety without backing down. I'll never have the chance to meet this great woman. Harry Potter was my introduction to the world of reading. As an abused child that turned out to be a lifeline for me. However, if I could tell her one thing it would be thank you for being so bold and loud about protecting women. I found this info: Transgender rights Rowling has said that she wants trans women to be safe, but she also believes that the rights of women are being eroded by the current trans rights movement. She has also spoken out against what she views as a misogynistic movement that has gained influence in society. She's not phobic, she's just concerned that those of us born women are being erased by this rhetoric. And I agree with her.

Just the other day I was talking with someone and my sister about books and movies, and Harry Potter was mentioned, then my sister said "it's such a shame that JK Rowling is a hateful transphobic".

Then the other person we were with asked about it, and I told them that the comment that made everyone called her "transphobic" wasn't hateful, she was just saying that we need to protect spaces for biological women, and that it just really blew out.
Then the other person said that it is true that leftists tend to go extreme with people that don't think exactly the same.

I’m currently re-reading the Harry Potter series rn (almost done with book 5) it’s such a wonderful piece of literature that you can never forget. I appreciate J.K. Rowling for her intelligence and her ability to stand up for women’s rights and safety without backing down. She really spoke the incantation LUMOS with her chest when shining a light on the insanity of the current trans movement.

I really like JK. She has been talking about things and has the same stance I've always had. I've had a very dear trans friend. I've been through fully supporting and fighting to bring them into their identifying space. Doing all of that showed me the dark side of all of this. What you don't think about and talk about. It's why they are no longer on this earth. There needs to be a change with how we speak about this. Or more don't because we can't offend anyone by showing people the truth. So we're better informed.
