Slugging and Tunneling is more optimal on her than ever lol idk how they screwed this up. She was so healthy in the PTB. I also hate how they used the term "clever players" when describing good Sadako players lol yea we are guna nerf her because some people are good at playing her.

The TL;DR is that killers knew how to use the Onryo in the PTB and survivors didn't know how to utilize the counterplay provided in same PTB so they nerf the Onryo hard before anyone had time to actually learn a brand new iteration of a killer that has been drastically changed a lot recently.

That needs to be looked at next 💀. There’s been games where I get a head trap, I do nothing but run form box to box and can barely make it to the last one. And that’s if I’m not healed at all once unhooked and if the pod doesn’t happen to chase me or catch me at any of the boxes.

I might be misreading the patch notes today, but it sounds like the condemnation cooldown is actually even worse. If you teleport, you start the 10 second cooldown, and if you teleport again before it's over, you not only don't spread condemnation, you actually reset the cooldown anyways.

This seriously is so frustrating beyond belief. I was really hoping that they would keep Onryo the same from the ptb and then make additional buffs for her. Like more buffs for when she’s demanifested. Firstly to get rid of her lullaby, or to at least decrease the lullaby radius by a lot. Then I would give her longer undetectable after projecting and when demanifesting. She would be much more fluid and fun to play and still be fair for both sides. I just am so disappointed with behavior right now 😢

onepumpwillie, I uninstalled this game after i heard you. I uninstalled the game in the quiz there were no positions saying suvivor is overpowered but several items said killer overpowered.
I mean is anyone really surprised? This happens every patch update. It releases, it buffs killers and survivors. After ptb they say ah you know th killer buffs were too strong so we're needing them even worse than before the patch. Oh but survivor buffs that's completely healthy and balanced and fair. This game is simply about bashing killers heads into walls until they hook every survivor twice a game than go afk. I'm honestly surprised they didn't nerf grim embrace since that's a healthy slow down perk. I was waiting for the oh wow, grim is actually doing well do we're going to decrease the gen block time from 16 seconds to 8 to promote gen completion time since they definitely need it

My problem with dbd is the community and the devs never in my life have a seen a game company so lost o what they want to do. Do you want a casual or a competitive game, and in no healthy way they can balance the game to help both sides killers and survivors.
Very good summary. Factual, on point, expalaining gameplay for both sides. Its quite unfortunate what they did and whats worse is how they came to their conclusions. PTB was and never will be a good indicator for making ballance changes for killers. Perks and addons sure. You can play killer or survivor, use the new perks and determine quite quick how good they are. With killers, both sides have to take part in that. And there is the core of the crysis. Game that is heavilly affected by the caliber of survivors you go against, no MMR included makes it a shitshow. The survivors dont play good at all in PTB, some might but in a team game, you are as hood as your weakest link. I'd be very curious to see the 1st set of changes hit live version. Then you could see if theres need for more, but no, what BHVR does is make killer unviable against even the shittiest players who dont have a clue what to do and say: "oh it must be the killer being OP!" - hit the nail on its head with that Trapper analogy. One thing I would disagree with you though is your perspective on casuals and the argument that they need time to adapt. On one hand it is true, they would have to if BHVR didnt ballance the game for them but for the better players. Instead of actually learning a counterplay, they will just ask for unnecessary changes that most of the time ruin the fun of the killer(Spirit) or acuall viability(loads of killer nerfs). Most ironic will be the result of those nerfs. Somehow they dont seem to get that if you weaken the killer, then that killer is not gonna be playing the same way, will they? As you said with Onryo, why would I hook a survivor? No real incentive, just waste of time rather than reward. Its mind boogling, but what can you do. I really enjoy your Onryo games. I main onryo and it’s hard to win in her current stage where you can break tapes by hitting them because like you said survivors aren’t stupid they take body block hits and they know how to counter it. I have a couple hundred hours on the game, meanwhile I’m getting put in games with only prestige 100s with 20k hours. And I get into games with hackers that try to hold me hostage by nocliping somewhere or something, but behavior looks at all that and thinks, “onryo is already really stressful to play and she’s bad let’s make her worse, oh yeah the nurse and many other killers are way better, let’s still nerf the onryo and the pig” I hate to say it but I think I want to stop playing the game because it’s not fun for me to constantly sweat my balls off when I just want to chill sometimes, they need to add a quick match and ranked play or something, but no they’ll probably just nerf the pig some more. I’m a horror fan and I do not play this game for a living, so I definitely am going to struggle, but the crazy thing that behavior doesn’t seem to understand is that the majority of the players that play that game every day have thousands apon thousands of hours, how are new players supposed to have a good time? Genuinely feels like they saw one potato tweet about losing super early because they refused to interact with the power and panicked, so they just slapped some nerfs onto her. She's legit just Onryo 1.0 but even weaker because now survivors ACTUALLY use tapes because it makes TV's come back slower.
They did the exact same thing with Tricksters rework. People said ONE thing needed to be changed but they gutted his knives when he got to live in addition to that one thing. The fact that Sadako came to live nerfed and Blight was technically buffed is absurd.

I liked original Sadako when she had her no cooldown on Teleport, but I only liked it because of old Iri tape because it was basically a kind of insurance for your TV’s, taking that Add-On away makes infinite teleport as useless as a fish on a bike, Pre PTB Sadako worked because you had to use the TV’s strategically, if your in chase, or giving condemned
But I feel like one thing that needs to stay is limited range on condemn because it puts information in her kit, so you know that someone’s nearby, which helps initiate chase
But seriously BHVR, stop shitting on a character that you just fixed
This is why solo queue needs to die and they need to focus on making everyone a swf. Killers dont need nerfs like these without solo queue players. Give Survivors mics, so they communicate. None of this would have to happen if solo queue wasn't a thing.

Based on the PTB build I was looking forward to putting some time into Onryo to learn her but with these changes, I have no interest in playing her now. I'll just stick to Alien, Artist, Deathslinger, Pinhead and Demo

They don't, really, and sadako is a shitty stealth killer thanks to the friggin lullaby that shouldn't exist and the brain dead visual heartbeat.
What they hate, though, is any killer with a built in quick death system, other than myers fsr. Bhvr already struggles at making logical decisions from the other side of their spreadsheets of out-of-context data- this is exacerbated by condemned and it's pretty clear that they don't factor in survivor activity when balancing around kill/mori rates.
Just wanna restate the above opinion- Sadako doesn't need a lullaby. She's weaker than wraith and HE doesn't have one. It's obvious things like this that drive me crazy while ppl argue over stuff like cool downs.

For real, they make the killers have no terror radius but give them loud ass noises that alert survivors anyway
@@blazeknight4120 my problem isn't with the audio cue, which is SO faint with onryo that I still argue with ppl who think she doesn't have one. It's that it activates the visual heartbeat, which absolutely destroys any non perk stealth in her kit.
There's no reason why she should have either to begin with. She isn't ranged, and her lethality is nil. It boggles the mind.

I think sadako falls into the same mindset/ideology as skull merchant: if the killer is bad and causing issues in the community on release, they will stay that way no matter how many changes they do

They butchered Sadako so much it can't even be classified as a joke. Hell, her Iri Video Tape literally makes it so you CANNOT SPREAD CONDEMNED. BHVR has just turned her into an M1 chase Killer with terrible chase potential. To make matters worse, they did this because players were supposedly tunneling, yet they make it so doing something like using the Ring Drawing add-on, ENCOURAGES you to tunnel anyone carrying a tape around. It's so stupid, and everything they wanted to fix, they just made WORSE. I might as well main The Twins instead of playing Sadako until they fix her.
Just because a gang of Survivors are too stupid or too lazy to pick up a tape to save themselves, doesn't mean Sadako herself had to be nerfed into the ground for it. If YOU'RE ignoring your Condemned meter, and I chase you and kill you for it, is it REALLY my fault that you let yourself die like that?

I'm just gonna say this, as a newer player to the game, bhvr does a really and I mean REALLY piss poor job educating the players (survivors) on what the killers abilites do and such. Not to mention they are constantly changing things. How as we expected to know what to do half the time unless you are a killer main already? Like there are ZERO tool tips in game, even at the menu screen there isn't much info readily available.
Simple answer is they don't even play their own game. For christ sake one of the tips in the loading screen is that you can throw a pallet down when not near a killer to distract them. They literally think giving the killer your resources is a tip LOL
In regards to Sadako this doesn't apply though. Usually yes, but in the PTB they made changes to ensure that survivors have ALL the information they can to know what they should be doing. They made tape interactions a whole second faster, survivors now see the aura of TV's as soon as they're in range, you can see static effects in the air when you're near one so maps like Midwitch and Gideon aren't as bad, and even took away the downsides of intially grabbing a tape. The information is all there, survivors just need time to learn but behavior didn't give the character a chance. They just rushed out nerfs because the casual playerbase screamed that she was the same when any decent player praised them for the changes.
@@SadakoApologistNah not really. The thing is that yes you can see the TVs, but you don't know what they do. In fact, if you're used to original Sadako, you've been conditioned to probably avoid tapes 90% of the time. Couple that with Sadako being a rare killer that people have probably played few matches against, and few will know the counterplay. The devs really need to do a better job of conveying to survivors how her counterplay works. Yeah, it's obvious if you read the patch notes, but most don't. The real difference with Sadako is that unlike someone like Pinhead, everyone has to know Sadako counterplay. Onryo isn't OP and a fun killer, but survivors need some better prompting to get them to grab tapes. Aura reading on the TVs is definitely a good first step. I feel like it could benefit from some kind of enhanced visual effects as condemn gets mid-level and above to give further clues to survivors that something bad is happening that they need to address.
@@taragnor Ever since Sadako's first rework tapes have been the biggest form of counterplay she has. If you go to a TV at the start of the match while facing Sadako 2.0 and grab a tape as soon as the TV's are on you are completely safe from projection spam, and then you're literally just playing against a normal killer with no chase power. Yes, I understand that survivors need time to learn counterplay, but that rework happened back in August and she 100% got played more as a result. It's 2024 and survivors still aren't picking up tapes against Sadako. At some point behavior has to stop coddling the new/bad players because it's demolishing the killer. Her kit has been drastically simplified compared to Sadako 2.0. The entire counter is to pick up a tape. That hasn't changed since August. Sadako 3.0 was pretty good and any player that understood how the killer functions acknowledged that this rework is a nerf but she's HEALTHIER. If you're getting condemned against this rendition of Sadako it is entirely your fault because she has nothing to punish you for grabbing a tape. Catering to new/lazy players that either don't know or care to interact with her power is going to run her into the ground. Skully has a complicated power, why isn't she being dumbed down? What about stealth killers like Wraith, Ghostie, they definitely confuse new players, should they be nerfed too? The logic doesn't make sense.
@@SadakoApologist Yeah, I know that the best counterplay is going over and immediately getting a tape, but that's because I play Sadako. The counterplay isn't hard, it's actually quite good. It just needs to be taught better. Honestly if you didn't read the patch notes or own the killer, it's pretty hard to figure out how Sadako works.
