Thank you for this update I appreciate all of storm chaser! What if you just moved to a new state don’t know anyone and people that live downstairs won’t let you go and shelter with them? But you are on the second floor? My bathroom is really wide no windows. I have a closet but the wall is on the outside of my apartment. I have a hallway. With one wall being my room, other wall being that closet. What is your best advice ?!
Thank you for this. I'm considering moving to Nashville and they have tornadoes. While I have never experienced one this video made them seem much less scary and it's just a thing people deal with. 👍🏼
So I was in a house in San Antonio, TX when a tornado watch was issued. It touched down in parts of the city but the area of town I was im remained unscathed. In response to your comment about a hallway, we chose the hallway as a shelter since it was the only interior space. All the rooms connected to the hallway had doors (which we closed) and the hallway had a pocket door, so in that case the hallway was a good place to hide.
What about smaller one or 2 story apartments? Are these any safer than a typical house? I understand to go to an interior point of the apartment building but I’m curious if a one or two story apartment is any safer than a one or two story (no basement) house?
I rent a apartment townhouse A 3 bedroom one. A bath and a half. My downstairs bathroom is shared with a washer and a dryer and built in cabinets above washer and dryer with a small window above toilet and the first room from front door with window, not much room in there . If a apartment is full of windows with no crawl space what do you suggest. And driving to a shelter is not a option.
Hi Steph. I apologize for my delay and I hope everything is okay! The best thing to do when injured like that, is to slowly make your way to your tornado safe location. If you don't live alone, be sure to ask for help getting downstairs. With the advance in technology, warnings can be issued far enough out for you to have time to reach your safe location.
You would want to seek shelter somewhere on the main floor my recommendation is if the laundry room is on the main floor and it’s all interiors go there, or try knocking on the doors worst case do what you get told to in school go along the hallway wall on the ground floor and do what you would do in a school setting

Wonder why he never replied to this? Pretty important question. Or is it not "a good look" to communicate with common folk?
Try to get the next downstairs apartment that becomes available.

What about the roof possibly caving in?
But what if your lowest level is a half bath and the only other closet is the laundry room which unfortunately never has secure doors.? Hmmm

Since I live in Oklahoma, what if my neighbors aren’t home? (I live in the 2nd floor) what then?
Kick the door in if it's life or death.
I really thought I would be dead
What do I do if there isn’t a stairway available?

Added bonus to sheltering in the bathroom is you won't have to worry about sh**ting your pants. In all seriousness though, good information.
he didnt go over the stairway
not helpful for most apartments :(
I got 11 more minutes
