The graphics on this new Truck Simulator are amazing
Lol...it looks really REAL...
lmfao
@Israel Stortz i dont give a fucking damn
@Iva Goslee you is a fucking dumbass. you believed this idiot right here
I just passed ny CDL-A last week and start with Schneider driving PODS yhe week after next. Mountains and bad weather driving make me nervous since iver never done it. I've been driving in bad weather all over the place over my 30+ years but semis... totally new world. I appreciate this video even though the conditions arr good. Helps build confidence (not over confidence).
Good luck, you'll be a pro driver in a month going up and down all roads, new trucks are awesome and safe
I’m getting my CDL on auotomatic , this all new trucking experience for me. I lost my job in this pandemic, and just wanna start a new carrier. I just want to drive safe and easy, that’s why I choose automatic transmission! Thanks for the video , it’s really good for new drivers!
Did you get your cdl?
How did go men did you get your cdl and how’s the driving on an automatic??
@@rmata792 I got mine through central tech it was a good experience when you get your cdl in an automatic you get a restriction I just got mine in a standard it’s really not hard definitely recommend giving manual a shot I never in my life drove a standard got my cdl within 25 days
@@bill6458 damn thanks men definitely will give it a try I’ve driven Manuel before but struggled with took me a while to pick ip
@@rmata792 when do you think you are going to get it!?
iv lived in Colorado for 9 years and currently living in the springs, as someone who drive to Utah every winter, no matter what roads you take you are gunna be shitting your pants no matter what
Amen, crazy roads, especially during Winter...
I’ve been driving trucks for 20 years “locally” and never had to drive in the mountains but now since I change departments. And now I do a little driving in the mountains. So great advice really help me
Colorado mountains are nerve wracking enough in the winter with just a sedan. Nothing looks better than the "Welcome To Utah" sign after that.
Thinking about joining the truck life just nervous I guess but been watching your videos about the automatic transmission. Makes me feel a little better 😅
They are super easy to drive and reliable now in 2024. Shifting all day sucks, you feel way more fresh after driving semi trucks all day...
Hey there, im a fellow truck driver and i love my job, its so much fun, i get payed well and its just amazing and it has its fanbase and there are plenty and plenty of truckers all across the world, especially in america (where i live)
he has a radio voice
You have some really good info. I didn't know that tires were rated for weight😧. I've been driving since 1989 & I'm glad to know I don't know everything about trucking. Thank you...and KEEP ON TRUCKING👍🏻
I'm school now trading to get my cdl love these vids, thanx bro
When I was a kid I drove from fl to Salt lake via 70.
I’ll nwver forget how awesome the views were just west of Denver to about Grand Junction .
I'm new to trucking, and I love this video
Thank you!
I start CDL school in a month, very excited!
New subscriber , nice video, I'm a new driver and will be starting soon , even though I tested in a standard , I knew when I got out in the real world that I wanted an Automatic. Thanks for the video made me a fan.
I just started in flatbed with maverick transportation. I'm in training now whew the mountains is a challenge for me
Nice country Cory, freaking construction everywhere...
Clear and comprehensive talking not like others that sound like they’re sleeping jaja
Do you keep the engine break on while you on the flat
No, you switch it off...
Ok thanks
man dude, you are easy to listen to. You are a great voice to these videos. i would like to speak as clear as you on my channel!!
Great video brother. I was thinking about getting in to trucking.
You sound good and the information you are bringing is very cool
0:44 I love how rebel yell is playing
Thanks for the video. God bless!
So beautiful up there bro
You are always so articulate
Just to add to what you mentioned....on the tandems each pin hole equals 300 lbs towards the weight distribution. So if you want to add or take away you can do the math right there. Just giving a heads up to those who don't know out there. 😎✌️
Oh yeah Billy Idol in the background.
Rebel Yell))) DP have nice version of this song
Thank so much for sharing this great video. I would love the automatic. I definitely will lease one of those when I go to Prime.Awesome video thanks again.
Who else was singing Billy Idol Rebel Yell while watching? lol great vid Cory
Tnxs for your explanation
Hi . nice video. I am a new driver. Thanks for this video it helps a lot.
I have a question about handling big rig in a curve, in what speed is safe for a loaded trailer going to a sharp curve in a 80 speed limit road highway or whenever there is curve. Thank you
If you are a newer driver, just get in the slow lane and follow another semi driver, or if you are clear, I'd slow down to 55mph and see how road looks far down the road. If it's the exact same curve for 1 or 2 miles, just keep your speed the same and relax. Feel the steering wheel and if your truck is leaning. Sometimes wind can really make you nervous, icy roads too. The more you drive, you'll know what speed is safe at all curves you encounter. The weight of your load really determines your speed too. I think month after month, and mile after mile, you''ll learn what speed is best for all curves you encounter. Take it easy and be safe out there...
@@CoryJDraper thanks Cory, thanks for your time. Your Video is a big help to us new driver.
jeez so many trucks passing the freeway. so many . few every second
We do have alot of semi trucks on this freeway during the day going across America
amazing positivity and info sharing. great . god bless you and protect you.
salutes from somalia.
Right on, nice hearing from you...
@@CoryJDraper sure thing. i sent an Email !
looking forward to hear from you Mr. Cory
Love your videos your awesome helps me a lot as a new trucker .
that is such a beautiful scene im a photographer and im trying to get into truck driving I can't wait !!!
hassan thomas
hassan thomas it's never gonna happen running a camera is way different then a tractor trailer
hassan thomas Hey there, im a fellow truck driver and i love my job, its so much fun, i get payed well and its just amazing and it has its fanbase and there are plenty and plenty of truckers all across the world, especially in america (where i live)
Hey Cory, cool video - I love how you make the point of saving the service brakes by using the Jacobs. I've been driving in New Zealand for 40+ years. Not many straight roads here and 11 or 12% grades are common. Funny thing is I still pick up a trick now and then from watching :-)
Right on Jimmy, take it easy over there...
Man, its gorgeous up there. Can't wait to start school.
I just got a 2016 Cascadia with the auto and this helped me out quite a bit. I live in Colorado and can definitely agree with taking 70 instead of 80 into SLC.I was hesitant to switch to automated as I enjoyed shifting but it definitely cuts down on fatigue, I will be interested to see how it holds up over time. Thanks for the video!
Hey man I live in Denver too. New in the business, should I buy an automatic or manual? What year automatic are most reliable? Do they cost a lot to maintain? Thanks
@@Swara96 Buy an automatic. Manual transmissions are now in the minority on highway rigs. They are being phased out because automatics are safer, result in less fatigue, and can be operated by less skilled drivers. Since most truckers are in the fifties, the only way to attract new drivers is by making driving easier. Automatics have come a long way and can shift better than the best trucker. Forgot to mention that automatics get better fuel mileage as well.
I am starting trucking tomorrow and just seeing you so relaxed is amazing 👏 It just means everything is achievable! Thanks for posting!
Oh cool! Have fun trucking and take your time learning everything to be safe. After a few months you'll feel great. Don't let traffic or other truckers upset you, you'll see what I mean. People always hauling ass on the freeway and other truckers always in a rush with crap advice about "The Good Ole Days" . If you are going OTR invest in entertainment like a nice stereo, music, Sirius/XM, and flat screen. So much entertainment to listen and learn to while cruising down the highway...
Thank you Cory. I'll be in a family business. If all goes well, I want to get nice toolboxes underneath and put all my fishing gear and also have a nice way of hauling my carbon bike! Keep up the positive vibe sir.
@@CoryJDraper do you leave the trans in automatic mode on down hill mode or put it manually in a lower gear for down hill
@@joelabandeira9858 I can do both, but I'll keep it in automatic mode. I apply the (engine brake) handle in full position using all the torque from engine to hold truck back going down hill. After you drive a month or two you get really good at using the engine compression to hold truck at a safe speed going down all kinds of steep grades. Take it easy Joe...
Nice. In cdl school now. The grades make me nervous...
Hey Cory thanks for sharing this video, I am a 37 year old rookie truck driver. Share all your new driver tips.
Advice for brand new trucker? I'll be driving Freightliner automatic reefer. Thanks.
Thought you had a radio voice too, and then i saw the "about" section and it had a studio, no surprise. Thanks again. God bless
I use cruise control when going down and depending on my weight on the load. If load is heavy I set cruise control lower (15 under speed limit or more. Lighter loads I set 10 under speed limit. (All depending on the incline) I know that when going down hill at a set speed my engine brakes kick in automatically when my truck speeds up more then 5mph from the set speed. Truck will not go more then 5mph. I also try looking ahead of traffic and lower my cruise control when I need to. I try not to use the service brake and switching so many times with the jake brakes when going down hill. If anyone disagrees or has concerns pls let me know what you think.
Thanks for the videos really helped me out
I gotta learn to use the Jake brake more then my service brakes I dont ride it tap them so would you recommend using Jake brake down steep hills
Hello Mr.Corey I have 20yrs of Driving but have been mountain driving in a long time about to go back on the road can you give me some advice on mountain driving
Trucking is such a unique thing. The incredible beauty and strong memories, Yet the heart-breaking brutal solitude that only food, coffee and cigarettes can tame.
Daniel Thompson I thought I were a truck driver not a cry baby poet
Or some trees 💨
Ever heard of books?
Not a truck driver but would like to learn and hopefully drive one in the future. 🤞 was looking for truck driving tutorials and just stumbled on one of your videos.
I like your attitude !! I got nothing to prove . I want to get into trucking but not interested in Manuel , I’ve always liked automatic .
I hope you not interested in Manuel 😂
I have a few questions, 1) what rpms do u want to go down a mountain? 2) can u use cruise control going up and down? and 3) what's the best way to brake?
1) th same rpm in the same gear you climbed the mountain 2) yes you can use cruise control, if you get too fast the retarder/engine brake slowes you down 3) brake, stop breaking, brake again. so the breaks wont overheat
Rock Crystal going down a mountain, no more then 1500rpm. 1400-1500 is ideal. 2. You can but cruise control will push your truck 3-5 mph faster then you want it to. Why would you want to use it uphill. Most hills slow down ur truck anyway depending on your weight. Cc is not going to keep it at a certain speed going up because of the incline and weight of your truck. Cruise control is mostly good for long stretches of road like backroads and maybe freeways.3 engine brake is the best way. It saves ur brake pads and u have more brake control.
So when you're going down. Basically you never turn off the jake break until it's leveled?
Great Video ✔️
Thank You...be safe
Awesome commentary informative & fun .
Hi there. Thank you for the info! I'm newer. Only 2 years in.
My reasons to become a trucker, being on the road, the scenery, and listening to classic rock🤘
Thanks for the good advice
Good explanation on automatic trans. and engine brake.
Gord,
Vancouver, Canada
Awesome video will be driving in two weeks and it will be an automatic although I dont have restriction on license . I guess I will not be a super trucker.lol .the money doesn't say any difference.
Just one tip cancel the cruise control when going down hill so the engine brake active quickly and keep the speed that you want.
I have this route Denver to Grand Junction helping my PTO guys out again I 70
Love your vids, great positive info
Thanks Nate...
some good ol billy idol in the background 🙌 my biggest dream is to drive through Nevada at night playing some billy idol and alice in chains , my Canadian life is boring lol
Maybe you should listen to more Rush and your Canadian life wouldn't be so boring! 😜
Hi Cory, is it possible to use cruise control during downhill ?🤔
Many automated transmissions let you do this, and the computer will try and slow you down going down hill if you start coasting faster than your pre-set MPH. It's pretty wild...
Awesome video
i agree with you , its just about been matchue
I like that Christmas song
Hey Cory, I’m 20. Any tips ?? I start school march 1st
Are automatic trucks heavier ? On mine i am usually 11,800 on my steers when i am empty lol. I do have a drop axle though so that adds weight.
I need some advice about the automatic transmission tractor... How should I drive it because I'm in truck driving school and I was extremely nervous driving it on the road. I need some advice how to drive it? Thanks in advance!
Hey there, you'll do great in the automatic. You can focus so much more on steering and backing up. Hard to give advice here, just get in the truck without a trailer, and drive around in a big parking lot. You will really like the automated trans, they are so good now in 2023. Good luck, like I said, you'll be awesome!
Great video thanks.
Here the quarry we load at is at the top of a winding road. They (the company and also the quarry has posted a sign) telling us to not use our jakes coming down because residents complain about noise. Personally I care more about my safety, and for the most part have been using the service brake only. The speed limit is 40 and 45 mph. There are spots that are steeper than others and you fly down hill. I drive for a company, the truck is under powered, with 650,000 miles, and the jake hardly works anyway, so mainly I just stab at the brakes but still feel I'm using them too much. I am always at 80,000 lbs going down. Seriously I wonder how these people have the nerve to think truckers would care about their problem with noise.
Residents on a truck route should be required to contribute to a fund to have a sound barrier built, or have their home sound treated, if they don't want the noise.
you mean companies benefiting from the truck route should be required to contribute to said sound barrier?
Maybe you're right. Also smokers should be required to do their smoking inside a container that cleans their contamination out of the air until their breath is cleaned from it. If they want to walk freely, they should be required to wear a reverse gas mask, which contains all of whatever they prefer to smoke. All at their own expense.
Dee Zaster it’s not the truckers complaining about the noise. It’s all of them people who like to mess with their electronic devices while driving mainly complaining. Some parts of Alabama where I live. People are complaining about our air horns because they say it startles them. Alabama state trooper was behind a car next to me. I seen a person in their POV right in front of the state trooper texting on their phone and I hit the air horn. Their window was half way down. I watch that person jump, put both hands on the steering wheel, and lose their phone out the window. That person got up to speed and the state trooper gave me a thumbs up then pulled that person all in a matter of two minutes.
Thanks your videos are great good audio
I’m a new in this business
It helps a lot
Thanks
Right on, be safe out there!
I like your video.
What is the engine brakes? I know where the service brakes are but I'm new into trucking and going to school. Are the engine brakes the same as spring brakes? Can you or one of your subscribers tell me the difference between them and tell me how each one works?
Engine brakes is basically using the compression of the engine to slow you down, especially down hills. It's similar to downshifting your normal car or truck from 4th to 3rd, 5th to 4th, etc. It's a safe way to control your semi while using normal foot brake (service) too...
@@CoryJDraper thank you for replying to my post. I don’t mean to make it sound so complicated…but we’re practicing on both 10speed manual and automatic. The instructors haven’t showed us how to downshift in the automatic yet.
so, in an automatic, is it okay for when I go down a hill, to keep my foot off the gas and service brake, to let my tractor coast or slow down on its own and come to a slow roll?
I know the rule here in PA is, if I go up a hill in say, 6th gear I should go down the hill in 5th. Do I HAVE to down shift in an automatic or does it do the shifting on its own?
Love the billy Idol in the background
At what gear in a automatic at 43,000 lbs dry van should I be going incline altitude
You are almost full weight so probably 9th or 10th gear just below redline. Don't want to over-rev engine of course, but take your time going up in slow lane. People haul ass going up this road in fast lanes...
I have a 2018 freightliner. When I have the cruise control set does it automatically engage the engine brake when going down a grade, even if I have not engaged the jake brake? Or do I have to manually engage the Jake brake?
Thanks of the video. I'm just learning to drive a truck in a school, but having problems with learning to shift gears. It gets really confusing. I wish the school had automatic trucks.
Wayne Jones how are you doing now? I'm in school now, in my 4th week. Shifting was an issue but I'm smooth with it now.
I don't recall you mentioning how you use the engine brake ? Do you leave the EB in neutral, which doesn't sound right, or do you select one,two or three ? What happens if you're rpm goes too high, at that point it's too late isn't it?
Great info thanks !!
Very good info on this video....
Awesome video man I just subscribe to your channel I'm about to start trucking soon o.t.r regional I been had my class A but I been driving class b trucks now I'm getting into simi tractor trailer great video much appreciate be safe out there man
my ears are popping just looking at itlol i'm in the northeast 287 and 87 got hills just like this . I drive 13 speed i feel scared taking automatic on hills because engine breaking is not too strong on my pete 579
I love your videos, wish to see more
I’d like to see how you handle uphill in the automatic.
excited to be a truck driver
I am new at driving and i get scare going downhill on my expedition how do i brake properly cause when i hit the brakes it shakes abit tell please
How would you recommend climbing 8% to 10% grade? Manual mode?
Automatic is the way to go it's just so much easier on the truck and your body itself.
Amazing I hope to get back into it just curious the automatic transmission is it more powerful than the manual transmission???
That music sound good💗
Hello I have 2019 international and the jakes suck. Can't stand truck I constantly have to use brakes on grades even with level 3. They offered me a 2016 frieghtliner instead. What are your thoughts between the 2 on handling grades thanks. Still new driving 3 months
Great video.. I have a 2020 freightliner hauling chemicals(tanker). What gear was you riding in? Trying to get a little comfortable driving up and down mountains..
What grade were you on in this video? How do you handle a 6% downgrade in Colorado? I’m a newbie and will be driving a automatic truck. What rpm is the spot to start stab breaking? I ask because with an automatic you have no control over how fast the truck is gonna go or what gear?
Engine break it has 3 levels
Nice tunes!!
Excellent!
I like driving trucks and this video is good
I might need your cell number to have as a life line when I get on the road by myself. Mountain driving has me on edge!
