All Incarnate Components can be earned by doing the Heather Townsend Burden of the Past Arc in Dark Astoria. The Arc is also available from Ouroboros. The arc can be run in about 10-15 minutes.
you don't have to unlock incarnates at level 50 on HC. they removed that part. once you hit 50 just keep killing stuff to get the incarnates xp to open up slots. you can still do the ARC to open if you want too
Homecoming has done some nice stuff, Independence Port South is a godsend, your toggle debuffs like Darkest Night stays on your target after they die so you don't to worry about killing that person last, which is great for my Dark Miasma Mastermind
Nice summation of the incarnate system. I personally play on the Homecoming servers and find they are well supported by the community and server operators.
Ah, the Incarnate system, now does that ever bring back memories...it just makes me sad that it'll never be completed, that we'll never truly know what all the unreleased powers would do, that we'll never fight what we were earning all of these to fight in the first place All because some suits thought they should shut down a game who's profit was _still growing_
I remember reading that they never finished releasing the Incarnate Powers. It was suppose to end with an Omega Slot. The game actually showed every slot up to Omega when the first wave of Incarnate Powers were released but we never got any more information about what those slots would actually do. Also you forgot to mention that you can increase the effective of Debuffs when you were talking about Defender builds. Not all Defenders are Empaths so Healing or Buffs would be totally useless on something like a Dark/Dark Defender. I got my Defender to level 50 before Incarnate Abilities were even a thing, before City of Villains was even a thing and it is so irritating when people only see me as a healer. Dark Defenders only have two healing abilities and both of require me to attack an enemy to even use. Plus you have to be standing next me to be in range of the healing aura. I was kicked from a lot of teams back in the day because I wouldn't heal or because I attacked an enemy when asked to heal. I can not heal without attacking. I'm not a healer. Dark Defenders primary job is debuffing the enemies accuracy so they can't do damage in the first place. It's really stupid when someone wants me to just heal and tells me not to attack cause Dark Defenders are not built to work that way. It's impossible. Learn how the power sets work people! This didn't happen so much after City of Villains because without an Empath in the game players had to learn other ways to not die with relying so much on Empathy. But damn that first character was a tough four month grind to 50 when I could rarely find a team that knew how Dark Defenders actually worked. I spent a lot of time either soloing or only playing with my dad on that character. Taking out a Boss solo was a slow process but doable. Only Elite Bosses/Arch Villains were impossible to take out by myself. Needed someone who do more damage for that. After getting to 50 the only thing to do in the game were Hamidon Raids and with the Enhancements you get from each successful raid I was even able to solo EBs after a while. It was freaking awesome. Got even more powerful after unlocking Incarnate Powers. And it saddens me that I will never see the full potential of what that character could have been. My name RialVestro actually originated from this game. Lord Imperial was my first level 50 hero and Lord Vestereo my Zombie/Dark Mastermind made to be the evil version of the same character was my first level 50 Villain. Names were later shortened to Rial for the hero because Lord Imperial was too long to type during combat, no one wanted to call me Lord, and I hated being called Imp. Vestro came about because of people mispronouncing Vestereo over team speak. So I ended up combining them and my Global Chat handle in game (this never changes no matter what character you're playing as) ended up being RialVestro. I've been using that name ever since. I did try a healer once and freaking hated it. Especially the running after players because they refuse to stay in range and then some how it's my fault when they die. I got seven people to keep track of and they're scattered all over the freaking map. Stay in one place cause I can't be in seven places at once. Usually I'll just follow the teams Blaster or whoever seems to die the most that way I'm helping the one that needs it most and anyone else I'll heal if in range but if not why the heck should I abandon the glass cannon to heal a Scrapper who thinks he can tank better than our actual Tanker. I will never play a healer ever again... I like characters I can solo if I need to take a break from people. I don't mind playing a support role but healing will never be a primary focus. Support/Defenders are so much more than just Healers. Little secret... While Healing is the primary goal of a low level Empathy Defender, upper level Defenders get buffs that when property slotted totally negate the need for Healing as you'll never take damage in the first place with a well built Defender on your team. So yeah calling any Defender a "Healer" shows a complete lack of understanding of understanding of what Defenders actually do by diminishing their role to something very few Defenders ever actually do.
@@RialVestro woah, okay there, *_Wall-O'-Text_* alert! I'm just going to ignore everything after the first paragraph, since it really isn't relevant to what was being talked about; but yeah, everything you said in the first paragraph is exactly what I was talking about in regards to the Incarnate system
I would have recommended players start off with the goal of obtaining their Tier 3 alpha slot first, as that provides the permanent/always on level shift. Which makes fighting mobs throughout all aspects of the game easier. Destiny and Lore provide level shifts as well, but only during incarnate trails are they actually in effect. Targeting a player with at least a Tier 3 in Alpha, Destiny, and Lore will show them being 50 +3. Although, again 2 of those levels are only applicable during incarnate trials.
I'm considering options for my first Alpha slot. Are all abilities capped at 100%? For example all of my damage powers have three damage enhancements for about 99%. If I select an incarnate path with 20% damage increase am I wasting my incarnate choices?
How did this game flop, and something like Champions Online is still running (barely, but still officially running)? I'm really curious, what happened?
City of Heroes didn't 'flop', it was killed off by game producers NCSoft.. They wanted CoH to die so they could make room for their new mmo Guild Wars 2..
Nerd Slayer did a great video on the demise of CoH here: ua-cam.com/video/YahAati0d2c/v-deo.html Basically: The publisher, NC Soft was disappointed in the game's poor performance in the Asian market so killed it despite it doing well enough outside Asia.
It flopped hard in the Asian markets despite a massive push to Korea and China and Japan. There was also the problem that they wanted WoW profits and player numbers so considered the game to be a failure, despite making somewhere in the region of a million dollars profit a week. It's the Simpsons effect all over again. Futurama was popular but didn't get the viewing figures the Simpsons did, so it was cancelled. The problem with that is you can't compare a product that is a phenomenon with anything else. Any comparisons with WoW or The Simpsons will always end badly. Even now, when both are shadows of their former glory, they still have a massive effect on their individual demographics. Eventually they went down the free to play route which basically killed it. A lot of the people who subscribed but didn't play too often stopped paying and just logged in occasionally free of charge. The profits from the pay to win never materialised and the game lost money hand over fist. A series of poor management decisions and corporate greed meant the game was fundamentally altered and quickly killed off.
Man, I was re-watching the big bang theory this morning and on a scene where the guys were at the comic book store they had a city of heroes and a city of villains promotional cardboard in the background, and now this shows up in my feed. Seems like I'm up for a good day!
you can get everything you need by converting shards, threads and empyrean merits...now it WILL save you a LOT of time if you manage to get a rare or very rare incarnate drop from a trial.....People on Indom usually chain run BAF for this very purpose.
I am having a huge issue getting into homecoming. I get to the log in screen. The username and password is off the screen. only the edge is showing. Is this a known issue?
You craft them useing threads and incarnate salvage, a good tip is to make a few tier 1 and 2 which only requires a loads of threads and then see which you like, you could have all the lore pets at tier 1 or 2 over time without useing emp merits and see what is best for you to invest into tier 3 or 4.
Think about which side of the tree you want before you start not that's it's hard to redo but saves time, save the empiream merits for the more rare shard recipes in the higher level tiers
