      I would love to be up there after a rain or during a nice light rain, to see what cleans up or washes out.

      Thank you for those amazing words. All of you who watch my videos help me live my dream. I love showing a multitude of places, both pay and free, easy and difficult to get to,so anyone can get out there and hopefully find some amazing rocks, minerals, and fossils. I may not be the best camera, man, but I do it for all of you.

    Beautiful finds, my friend! I love those colors on the insides of those geodes...and it kind of makes me wonder...which do you like hunting for better, the ones in the St. Louis area or out at Dugway? Both will have their pros/cons I am sure. Which do you think makes a better display piece? I have never gone geode hunting, so I honestly have no idea of what to expect other than what videos I have seen by good folks like yourself.

      Thank you, and that's a good question, and honestly, it's hard to answer. I mean, in the greater scheme of things, Dugway Geodes should actually be called Dugway Thundereggs because it is a rhyolite shell where as here in the midwest, they are limestone.
      For clarity, the Dugways are probably the best and some of the prettiest out there. Sometimes, you will get lucky, and the "geode" will have a chunk of rhyolite missing, and when cut, you can set a light behind it to make it glow or even hold it up so light and have a quartz window.
      The geodes in this area seem to contain more and other mineral growths like calcite and pyrite and the such.
      I would say Dugways are probably my favorite display piece, but that could just be because they are exotic to me in this area. It's kind of like the whole druzy vs. quartz vs. smokey quartz, it's all quartz crystal, but I go gaga in Arkansas because I don't have it here.... Man, the way I avoided that question, I should be a politician 🤣🤣

    Nice to see the recommended tools for a site. What tools would you recommend for Haunted Ridge?

    • @huntingrocks
      @huntingrocks  3 місяці тому +1

      Haunted Ridge I like to use a small shovel, a small garden trowel and prying tools usually plastic but metal works just be careful where you place it.... and of course my secret weapon a garden sprayer, the 3 gallon pump up kind, those work great for any time you are going after minerals, and some times fossils but you have to be careful with the fossils

    Yeah, I would have definitely used that as my thumb nail too, absolute gorgeous piece. Will make a wonderful display piece for sure. I love the colours of these geodes. Looking forward to what else you find

    That Geiger counter is actually what I think is referred to as a survey model, which is designed to pick up extremely high levels of radiation, specifically after an atomic blast. To read the lower levels you might find in rocks, you need the model with the wand.

    • @huntingrocks
      @huntingrocks  2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah, I need to get one this one I borrowed from a buddy of mine. Next year, I hope to hunt for some uranium ore, so I need to pick one out . If you have any recommendations, I am all ears

      @@huntingrocks no problem. I bought one of them last year because I was wondering if some of the petrified wood I was bringing home from the Yellow Cat area in Utah might have been radioactive. Luckily no. 😅

    I have been out there many times try to put some of those geodes under a black light and it will blow your mind neon green, neon blue, under a black light it is the opalite in the agate that make them glow so bright under a black light do that and let me know what you might have glowing.

    • @huntingrocks

    Drive South 13 miles to the Thomas Range Mt. lots of Topaz if you can work for it in the rhyolite.

    Looks like a good trip! The best part besides those Gorgeous Geodes, was
    there was was nobody there to get all
    in your way or ask bunch of nosey
    questions! Iso hate that.
    The ones that you showed were
    so pretty. Beautifully cut, broken or
    even sometimes whole with crystal
    veins Geodes have always been my
    Favorites besides Rainbowed colored
    Chert with Crystal on it!
