- Archy Marshall shaped the sound of a whole generation of indie musicians.
Ever since uploading his first tracks under the Zoo Kid moniker at the age of 15 he's been a favorite of music enthusiasts and US mainstream big names: Frank Ocean Tyler, The Creator and Beyoncé outed themselves as fans, Kanye West was denied a collaboraion.
In 2020, Marshall released his new album "Man Alive!", a record dealing with self-doubt and angst - but also optimistic moments, like on "Alone Omen 3". TRACKS met with King Krule just before his very last show before the lockdown, on March 3, 2020 in Berlin's Columbiahalle.

I saw him when he came to Chicago in April 2018. I was going to see him again in April 2020 but COVID happened and was postponed to December. I hope to see him perform one more time.

Das Konzert in Berlin am 8.03 war wohl das letzte Konzert was dort stattgefunden hat bevor Corona kam und ich bin immer wieder dankbar, dass ich dort hingegangen bin. Das neue Album wurde für mich das Corona Lockdown Album
Ja, es war auch das letzte Krule-Konzert vor dem Lockdown, er hatte nach der Show eine Woche Tourpause für die Family - danach wurde alles abgesagt.
Wir sind auch mega froh, dabeigewesen zu sein!
Wir hatten sooooo viel Glück dass es stattgefunden hat und überhaupt da gewesen zu sein ... es war zumindest für mich definitiv das Beste was dieses Jahr passiert ist :)

Rumour has it one time Oloff was sat next to Jar Jar Binks on a flight. Jar Jar kept kicking the chair in front of him and generally being obnoxious, nobody knew what to do. Eventually one of the flight attendants came over and asked Oloff if he would perform one of his songs to calm Jar Jar down, and when Oloff began rapping the first verse to Doing It Stealthy, Jar Jar immediately relaxed. To this day the two are still close friends.
