Get rid of that dainty little OEM shifter bushing and replace it with a solid FactionFab Rear Shifter Bushing to clean up the sloppiness in the shifter.

This video reminded me that I've had a bushing sitting on a shelf in my garage for... jeez, three years now?! What am I doing with my life.
Yeahhh gotta jack mine up tomorrow because of how many people recommend it.

I did this to my outback with 300k and no car lift. It was a nightmare, but actually worth it
Some guy in the ft86 club forums also said it was a nightmare with just jack stands, but he makes it look so easy in the video. Obviously he has a lift but is it that terrible? I wanna do this mod so bad, along with engine mounts, tranny bushings, and diff bushings.
@@Synthwave89 It was the exhaust pipe and short throw that gave me a problem.
Clearance room gets cut alot and definitely is not as easy as this.

Oem bushing is pretty stiff, but loosens up after 60k. I upgraded to the jdm Sti 6mt. Mine is a 2018 brz. Super crisp shifting still with rear oem shifter bushing. At 30k. If you do this above bushing, you might want to upgrade the shifter linkage bushings too.
I just did this on my s402. 200k. Wasn’t bad. Mainly because I was changing the shifter from a 6mt to jdm Sti short shifter 6mt. So I had a lot of room. Did on jack stands. Did TS linkage bushing too. Only issue was the TS rear bushing was so much taller and the bolts go in at an slight angle, was kind of a “b$&@!” To get them in.
Doing just this TS rear bushing isn’t worth it for just the bushing alone. It helps a little. But if you have slop in your shifter, it’s more of the shifter linkage at issue. That’s the shifter linkage bushings and the spacers. And if you change those, do the rear linkage bushings too.
What this bushing will do? Does it provide a better or tighter shift feeling by only replace this one?
Can someone that has installed this comment on how noticeable the difference is?
Just finished it in conjunction with the Torque Solution short throw and absolutely love it.
Its shorter crisper and the bushings fitting helps buff out those short choppy throws.
Sure it would help make throws on stock shifter alot more buffed out and a bit more dialed in however if your gonna be under there id recommend getting the two in conjunction over bushing alone.
Oh also if already upgraded the exhaust cat back your gonna have less room to work with and may have to juggle around with different tool combinations to get between there or otherwise have to drop the pipes to clear the working area.

What does this improve?
Cleans up the sloppiness in the shifter and makes it feel better "connected" to the transmission.
The throws of the shifter feel stiffer or tighter.
